Sixth Time Lucky

The first place Linette really wanted to visit was the bookshop but with her eagerness for books she knew she really should go to the wand shop first. She could forget or run out of money for anything else and her father would buy it for her later. Her wand though would require her presence. There was no way she could leave out that very important piece of equipment.

Linette stepped inside and faced the wizard who would help her choose the right wand for her. She didn't have much luck with the first five wands he handed her. None of them worked at all and Linette begun to despair. What if the letter was a complete mistake. What if she was really a squib and those bouts of accidental magic weren't that at all? It would be just her luck. She thought the wizard was thinking that way too as he reluctantly handed her the next wand.

From the moment she held it in her hand she could feel a warm tingling feeling. The tip glowed and she looked up at the wizard. He nodded approvingly and she reluctantly placed it back in the box he held out for her. The money exchanged and she was now the proud new owner of a 13½ inch made of acacia wood with a dragon heartstring core. Now for the book shop.
