Long time, no see Empty Long time, no see

Cameron was usually the brave soul who ventured into dark places, looking for trouble, but Kayla was curious about the pub. She'd gone to La Petit Dragon multiple times and decided it was time to visit its darker counterpart. She was cold and thirsty, and wondered if the Weird Sister's Brew had better butterbeer than La Petit Dragon. Kayla kept only a loose grip on her wand as she strolled down Whisper Alley, not very comfortable but also not completely repulsed. She was tempted by several odd shops along the way but kept on her path into the pub. Inside wasn't so bad. Dark and weird smelling, but full of laughter. She wished she'd come with Cameron or Greg or one of her friends.

Approaching the bar to order a butterbeer, she noticed a familiar figure slumped on the counter. "Mabel?" Kayla tapped her shoulder, hoping she wasn't drunk. "Are you alright?" She hadn't seen her cousin in a long time and was slightly wary of her. She'd never really gotten to know her, though.

Work was tough, but someone had to do it. The adultnhad to stay in shape and that meant stayinhg away from sweets. It wasn't hard, but there were times where Mabel cheated. It was one chip, then another. Until half of the bag was gone. But she didn't have a problem, she could stop herself. The job of being a dancer was a hard one, you always had to be in shape and do everything they wanted you to do. But there were days were she were stressed out and she needed a drink. When Fane worked, she always had a good time. She loved talking to him and knew that she made his work time more enjoyable.

But sadly, he wasn't working that day. But she wasn't going to leave because he wasn't there. "Who wants to buy me a drink?" She grinned towards a small group of guys. Most of the boys turned to call over someone so they could order her a drink and some of the others just stared at her. Her body was in great shape from all her work outs and she knew that she was hot. "Thanks," she smiled sweetly when her drink arrived. She sat at the bar and began to sip on her drink.

The man beside her, he had to be about her age, began felling to her and whispering into her ear. She laughed at his jokes and promised to meet him for dinner later that night. He soon had to go so Mabel was by herself again so she rested her head on the bar counter. She looked up to see her young cousin. "What are you doing here?" She patted the seat beside her and grinned. She hadn't gotten to know her cousin.

As dumb as it was, Kayla was initially taken aback by Mabel's friendliness. She'd always been aloof and mean, from what Kayla saw. She recovered quickly. "I was hungry and I've never been here before," she grinned slyly. She was slightly disturbed by all the guys around Mabel, but she ignored them and focused her attention on her cousin. She had to stretch to reach the seat, which was not meant for twelve year olds. "How do you like your work?" she asked Mabel. She'd hung out around adults lately and discovered many of them had interesting work. She didn't know what Mabel did and hadn't wondered before.

The bartender came around, refilling drinks. Kayla waved her hand, but he didn't notice her. "Excuse me," she shouted. "One non-alcoholic butterbeer!" She would have to yell to be heard, which wasn't something she was used to. With her relaxed, yet formal demeanor, most people took her seriously.

Honestly Mabel wasn't very close to any of her family members and she was closest to Caleb because he made it that way. Honestly if she weren't a Miller, she would never talk to any of the people she called her family. She didn't get along with a lot of them and was tend to be judged by them, especially her sisters. She wasn't like either of them and she was the subject of most negative conversations. She knew that she wasn't like, but that didn't bother her much. The arguments were getting boring and childish, she was ready for it all to go away and be in the past. Yet the sisters didn't get along still. And she found not talking to them was the best for all of them. They were adults now and they was no need and no time for the childish fighting.

"You came to the right place," she grinned. She knew a few workers but was only friends with one. She had been friends with Fane since she met him and she liked to think they were very close, that they loved each other. Maybe in different ways, but it had to be love. "Ready for a new year at school?" She hadn't been a fan of school and was glad when she had graduated. She still had nothing figured out but at least she was free to do whatever she pleased. She was like the odd one out in the Miller clan and she knew that a lot of her actions were ones that weren't approved by her family.
