Dorm #7: Apologies Are Never Easy Empty Dorm #7: Apologies Are Never Easy

Heather had admittedly done a really crappy job of being Daniel's best friend. It just wasn't easy being so popular. Okay, maybe that sounded really superficial, but it was kind of true. Between quidditch, hanging out with one of her billions of shallow friends that she was forced to hangout with, and being asked to go to all of these stupid social functions, it was like the world was trying to tear her away from her friends, mainly from Daniel.

Heather had finally built up the courage to say that she was sorry. She hadn't completely stopped being friends with Daniel. But it was close enough to it for him she supposed. So, that's how she found herself camped outside Daniel's dorm. She'd knocked, no one answered. Just to do it she tried the handle, which had opened, but Heather closed the door right away. She wasn't going to go into his room without anyone there. Though, she would definitely have to complain about him leaving his dorm unlocked. Anyone would be able to get into his room that way.

Heather wasn't always on purpose, but she was a shallow girl. It wasn't even until someone called her out on it that she even thought about it, and what made her the most shallow? The way she treated her best friend in the whole world, Daniel. She hummed quietly to herself. One of her friends invited her to hang out and for once, Heather turned the girl down. She needed to hangout with Daniel.

Finally, she heard Daniel's footsteps. She brushed off her dress and stood up. She walked a little bit of a ways down the hall and waited to hear his door open. When she did she nonchalantly made her way down the hall back to his room. She made a couple knocks on his door and waited for a second. She smiled when the door opened. Heather wrapped Daniel in a hug. "Hey there!"

Daniel didn’t blame Heather for being busy at all. He understood why. She had quidditch practice and needed to hang out with the popular kids because that’s who she was. A popular kid. The social butterfly who befriended everyone, granted she usually did that to bring herself higher up on the food chain. But that’s where she belonged. With people who held her similar interests and personalities.

She didn’t need to be seen with him. Daniel wasn’t the least popular kid, but he certainly wasn’t a king as Heather put it. He was much quieter and kept to himself, reading and studying mostly. That stuff bored Heather and he hated to bother her with that. After growing up with her, he was used to this. But, eventually his best friend in the whole world came back to find him and everything was okay in the world again.

Daniel was humming quietly as he made his way back to his dorm. He had a bad habit of not locking his door. He needed to walk around with a post-it note or something to remind him or to put the reminder right on the door frame as he was leaving. Generally he was in a hurry when he left (he was horrible at being on time) or he knew he wasn’t going to gone long. This time, it was just because he completely forgot.

He turned the doorknob and headed into his room, tossing his bag onto the bed. Daniel was about to flop onto his bed when someone knocked on his door. He wandered who it could be. Most likely Melody? Jude wouldn’t knock to enter his own room. He hopped up and answered the door. Heather? He wasn’t expecting her, but seeing her there filled him with happiness. “Hey yourself.” Daniel laughed and hugged her tightly.
