Term 14 History of Magic Exam Empty Term 14 History of Magic Exam

Post by Professor Fortier Wed Sep 24, 2014 6:04 pm

Professor Fortier looked out into his crowded classroom. He watched as all of the students as they dipped their quills into their inkpots. He was looking for cheaters already.

"Welcome to your History of Magic Exam Session," Professor Fortier said. "I trust that all of you have studied and are well-prepared for this, and all of your exams. The other professors and I have strict no-cheating policy. If I catch you cheating on this exam, you will receive a failing grade, and most likely fail my class."

"Give this exam your best effort. If you aren't sure of an answer, make an guess anyway. Good luck, everyone!"

Ooc: This is a chance to win some house points. In this thread, you will roleplay how your character takes an exam. Do they cheat, or are they honest (maybe include who they cheated off of)? Did your student study? Are they guessing on every question?  After you are finished with your post, a Minister will tell you you your grade (Oustanding, Satisfactory, Unsatisfactory) and whether or not they got caught cheating. The grades influence how many points your house gets. No points will be awarded for an Unsatisfactory. A Satisfactory will receive one point, and an Outstanding will receive three points.

The posts must be at least 100 words long (like all posts on this site) and they must clearly say if your student cheated and whether or not they studied. Just because they cheat, doesn't mean they'll get caught. And your student could fail if they studied, or pass if they didn't study. Have fun!

Term 14 History of Magic Exam Empty Re: Term 14 History of Magic Exam

Post by Autumn Krischstein Wed Sep 24, 2014 7:38 pm

Autumn Armstrong
First Year
Studied
Didn't Cheat

Autumn looked at her booklet nervously. Of course, she'd taken exams before, but this looked daunting to her. Even though she had studied, she didn't feel ready. She sighed, Here goes nothing, she said under her breath.

She pressed her quill down to her paper too hard as she thought. Autumn tapped the feather part of her quill on her face.  Then she crossed her legs. She was having trouble concentrating. Her mind drifted off and she went into daydream mode.

Professor Fortier randomly clearing his throat broke her out of her daze. She rushed, hoping she'd finish in time.

Aleta Luis
First Year
Tried to Study
Did her best
Didn't Cheat

Once it was announced that they would be taking an exam, Aleta spent most of her time studying. She was nervous that she wasn't going to understand a thing on the test because of her limited French. But good thing that her friend, Autumn, was helping her with her French. The day of the exam, she looked around nervously at the other students before focusing on the test in front of her.

She carefully read each question and wrote down what she thought was the best answer. She was glad that there were some questions that she remembered but there were some that she didn't quite know. She knew she didn't get every question right but she was sure that she did well anyways.

She set her quill down once she was down and closed her booklet. She moved her test towards the top of her desk the put her head down as she waited for the rest of the class to finish and for the professor to collect the test.

Term 14 History of Magic Exam Empty Re: Term 14 History of Magic Exam

Riley Ainsworth
Second Year
Studied A Lot
He Would Never Cheat

Riley sat in the middle of the classroom, not too close the the professor but not too far. He believed he was in the perfect spot and he was ready for his test. He was almost certain he would do great on this exam because he always did great. He spent most of his time doing homework and studying, he didn't have much of a social life but he didn't mind all too much. He needed to do well in school because he wanted to prove himself. He wasn't nervous because he had stayed up past midnight just studying for this exam.

He didn't look around before the exam, if he did then he would just lose focus on what was really important. He dipped his quill into his ink and began the test as soon as he was told he could start. He grinned to himself as he marked what he believed were the right answers. He knew these answers from all the studying he had done. Soon, his test was complete and closed he set his quill down and folded his hands over his test as he waited for everyone else to finish. Usually he would have looked around to see if he was the first one down but this time he didn't.

Term 14 History of Magic Exam Empty Re: Term 14 History of Magic Exam

Lucie Banken
Second Year
Studied Hard
Didn't cheat

Exams were something which always caused Lucie's stomach to squirm.  And it was getting worse the older she got.  Things mattered more.  Performance was more important when you got older.  Despite the ill feeling though she always managed to pull through with a decent grade.  And something she'd learnt after one year at this school was that so long as there wasn't a lot of spell casting involved she usually did fairly well.  That was what made History one of her stronger subjects.  No wands.  Just her brains and lots of reading and memorisation.

Thinking of the studying she did though didn't make the squirmy stomach disappear.  She swallowed and stared straight ahead waiting for the moment when she was told she could begin.  Her leg was beginning to jiggle, a sure sign of nerves and Lucie slipped a hand under her desk in an effort to keep it still.

Finally they could begin and Lucie's eyes were now down at her paper, reading through the questions picking out the easiest ones to answer first.  The hardest two closer to guesses than straight out knowing.  She wasn't completely sure if she had the dates correct or not but she was sure they were close enough.  The second year sighed as she put down her quill and shook her now aching hand.  Another exam over and the nerves long gone as always.  They would return when the results were out.  Very predictable were her nerves.

Term 14 History of Magic Exam Empty Re: Term 14 History of Magic Exam

Beauregard St. Holmes
Second year
studied a little
did his best
didn't cheat

Academics weren't Beauregard's thing. Neither were standardized tests. He tried to study, knowing that though he attended all his History of Magic classes, he still failed to retain all the information necessary to past the test, but found it hard to stay focused. He managed to go over most of his notes though by the time the day of testing had come around and showed up to the exam with butterflies in his stomach.

Once the test was in front of him, Bo got to work. He wished he was more confident on a greater amount of questions than what he was. but truth be told, there were only a handful he didn't guess on or couldn't remember the exact answer, so he did his best by putting something that he hoped was close enough.

By the time the exam was over, Bo was exhausted and he had a headache. He rose from his seat and handed in the exam with hesitant confidence. He hoped that he had at least passed.

Christine Henrau
Sixth Year
Studied
Didn't cheat

History of magic was the subject Christine loved the most.  She found it interesting and found the memorising of dates easy.  That didn't mean she had no need to study.  Of course she did. Especially in these final years before she would graduate.  Thus when she entered the classroom for her test there were no nerves.  What need had she for nerves when she knew the sixth year work backwards?

She sat at her desk with her fingers close to her quill ready to pick it up and turn over the paper the moment Professor Fortier gave her leave.  When the moment had arrived her eyes quickly scanned the exam questions.  Yes.  She knew the answers. Soon enough in her neat script she wrote down the answers as clearly and thoroughly as she knew how.  No short cuts or sloppy writing for Miss Christine Henrau.  Finally the exam was complete and she put her quill down before time was up.

Term 14 History of Magic Exam Empty Re: Term 14 History of Magic Exam

Harley Fenwick
Sixth Year
Studied Religiously
Didn't Cheat

Two weeks. That was how long Harley had gone with barely any social interaction. One more week of nonstop studying and she might had gone insane. She had canceled and turned down dates, get togethers, and even small outings just to walk around. Most of the time, Ryan just brought food up to keep her healthy, but he would occasionally forget and she would have to go down and get herself food. Needless to say, she was prepared for the exams, especially history. History was just facts, dates and name, and required little thought or understanding. She could skim through and remember everything without having to go in depth into it like she did in Muggle Studies.

Still, she chewed on the end of her feathered quill absentmindedly until the quiz landed on her desk with a smack. Quickly, she torn into the packet, answering the questions at the perfect pace, allowing her to finish before the timer yet understand the questions thoroughly. The only thing she disliked were the questions you had to answer in paragraph (or worse, essay) format. One thing she learned from most test was to work until the timer, even if you finished before it went off, and she did. As soon as time was up, she set down her quill and smiled. Yes, this was good.
