The idea of a pet was too exciting to resist and since Agatha wasn't there to tell her no, she most certainly was going to get one anyway. The list specified that dogs were not allowed, which meant her dog Bogey Man wouldn't be allowed to come with her, even if he was only a small dog. That was no matter, though. She'd buy a new companion today to bring with her and love both pets all the same. But what was to be her new pet?

Cats were always interesting. She enjoyed coaxing the stray cats on the street with scraps of food and then petting them to hear them purr. But it seemed to her that cats were a popular pick and surely someone at school would have one and let her play with it occasionally. So then maybe an owl? She had a few beautiful owls in her taxidermy collection already. Her favorite was the barn owl, but she couldn't seem to find any of that breed in the shop that day. Her lips tugging at a frown at the corners, Marcy was lost as to what to pick. Then she saw it. The perfect odd pet for her.

Tugging gently at the sleeve of someone she was sure who would know the answer, Marcy pointed to the small furry creature once she got the person's attention. "Excuse me, but do you know if bats are allowed to be brought to school?" She asked. She desperately wanted to bring the small furry winged creature with her, but wouldn't buy it if she couldn't.

It was a new year so there were many students getting their school supplies and anything else they needed for the school year. Gus was happy to be back for another year, he had missed the school and the people in it. His summer had been uneventful and boring so he hoped his school year would be a bit more interesting.than his summer had been.

His ferret was in need of some more food and some treats, he even brought him with him. His ferret was a little troublemaker and was always sneaking around when he wasn't keeping an eye on him. August kept his ferret on his shoulder so he wouldn't get away as he looked for some treats for the sneaky little thing.

When he felt a tugging at his sleeve he turned towards the source. A girl was the tugger and she had a question to ask. He nodded his head. "Bats are allowed," he said with a smile. His sneaky ferret made his way down his arm and put his face close to the girl. "Sorry about him, he's nosy. His name is Troublemaker."

Marceline grinned as the boy answered that bats were allowed. In her opinion, bats were best sort of pet to have. She wanted to get acquainted with her new bat friend as soon as possible, but instead she was distracted by a small weasel like creature that popped out from the boy's shirt.

"A ferret, eh?" She pointed out. She never saw a live one before, though heard that some girls at her school owned one as a pet. No the only ferret that Marcy had ever seen and pet was a stuffed one she called Bandit. She was one of the first taxidermy animals she had put in her collection and had always liked her because of her mask. "Y'know you're asking for trouble by naming him that. Ferrets like to steal things," She informed. So did she, but that was besides the point. "Can I touch him?" She asked, wanting to feel the fur of a breathing ferret. She'd gt back to her bat later.

"The reason I named him that is because when I first saw him, he was trying to get out of his cage." He giggled at the memory, he knew the ferret had to be his once he saw it. He was sneaky and was always doing something that made the boy laugh. He was a very entertaining creature and always cured Gus of his boredom. "Of course, it looks like he wants you to pet him."

The ferret sniffed the girl then started to purr. "He's friendly and he likes you." He liked everyone that he met, anyone who would give him attention. He loved attention and always did something to earn the attention. "He's a little attention seeker," he said with a grin.
