Furry Friends

With it being Jamie and Jack's first year, they had decided they were going to get pets to commemorate their experiences. Jamie had thought long and hard about his pet and had decided long ago. He wanted a furry little bundle of adorable kitten, with little white paws. He truly hoped that his little friend would be inside the pet shop. Glancing at his sister, he took a deep breath and entered. He was surrounded by barks, meows, chirps. All the sounds you could imagine from small animals. He glanced around and looked for his perfect little kitten, but it was nowhere to be seen. He turned to Jack to see if he could help her find her pet. "Any ideas, sis?" He asked with a smile.

Jack had been conflicted about what sort of pet to get since the moment their mother agreed to allowing them to get a pet. Their dear older brother, Fane, had been neglected of such a privilege due to the fact that he lacked responsibility. Jamie and her were different. She had confided that if she were allowed a pet she would treat it like her greatest treasure. Jack wasn't lying. The only problem was, which one to pick?

Jamie knew exactly what he wanted. He only told her every time the topic came up. She hoped for his sake that a kitten of his particular desire would be there in the shop. Walking in, she discovered that there were more than enough pets there that she didn't doubt it. Sudden worry came over her as she had to wonder if she would be able to find the perfect companion for herself.

She followed Jamie to look at the cats. There was an assortment of adult cats and many tiny kittens swarming mother cats. Jack smiled pleasantly, but was not inclined towards getting one. "See your special friend?" Jack asked. She'd worry about herself after her brother was settled.

Jamie was getting a little upset at the fact that he couldn't find his pet yet. Biting his lip when his sister asked if he saw his kitty yet, he shook his head. He was starting to give up on hope on finding anything that closely resembled his imagined animal. Just when he was about to give up he looked at a litter of baby kittens playing with each other. They were all cute and adorable, but the one that stuck out was the very one he was looking for. Small, little black kitten with little white fur around its paws. Jamie's smile widened as he picked up the fragile creature. "Hey Boots! Aren't you a cutie!" He cooed over the kitten.

Jack watched as frustration and disappointment filled Jamie's face. The boy was so particular about exactly what he wanted that she worried that he wouldn't be able to find the exact cat he wanted. Herself, on the other hand, had nothing in particular in mind, and therefore she couldn't find anything that suited her taste. She supposed that when she saw it, she'd know, but things didn't seem to be going that way.

She beamed as her brother finally found what he wanted and picked up the kitten and affectionately held it. "I think he's marvelous!" Jack chimed. She couldn't believe he already named it and here she was, standing in front of the owls, not sure whether or not she wanted an owl and if so, which breed?

Suddenly she felt a tug at her braid and turned with ire to see who was touching her. Much to her surprise, it wasn't a person at all, but an owl. She tugged the white hair from the birds beak and huffed as she turned back around. How rude! No sooner did she feel the tug again. "Jamie! Make this owl leave me alone!" She bossed.

Jamie cradled his new friend. The little kitten was perfect and he couldn't ask for more, and he was very pleased when he heard the approval from his sister. Now that he had his pet, it was his turn to help her. He knew that she didn't have any clear concept what she wanted necessarily which made hers a little more difficult since they didn't know where to start.

He was busy playing with, Boot's paws when he heard his sister call out. Looking up quickly to the see the culprit of his sisters exclamation. He laughed a little bit when he realized that it was none other than an owl who was tugging on her platinum braids. He would never wish for his sister to be hurt, but this owl was merely just annoying her, which gave him more reason to tease her. "But he likes you Jack!" He laughed. "I think he wants to go home with you! What do you think Boots?" Jamie asked the little kitten who in return just mew'd.
