Lunch Time Empty Lunch Time

Jude was one to love food. Like, a lot. He really loved food. So, what better way to spend the day than have a picnic. He couldn't go alone since it would be too boring by himself. He thought about asking McKenna and when he asked, she agreed. He knew that she also loved food. Because of that, and the fact that they were best friends, the first person to come to mind was McKenna. Today was a beautiful day and he wasn't going to be seen in his uniform on their off day. Since he was too young to go to the Village, he had to stay at Beauxbatons for the weekends. This weekend, McKenna had agreed to stay with him. He felt so honored that she'd give up going to that place.

She deserved the best, so she would get the best. Thensecondnyear made his way to the kitchen and asked the workers politely if he could have some food for anpicnic. He explained the situation to them and they all thought he was going on a date. So, they helped me. They packed sanwiches, desserts, sodas, and other delicious treats. He denied it being a date but they didn't believe him. At least they were helping him out.

Finally, hewas ready to set up. He made his flway out of the castle and to the grounds. He set up a blanket under a shady tree. He placed the basket in the middle of the blanket then sat down. All he had to do was wait now.

Well duh McKenna agreed to the picnic. It was food and spending time with her best friend (who wasn’t one of her sisters). She was all excited for it too and Jude insisted on getting everything together.

Her sisters teased her when she told them that she was staying at the castle for the weekend as opposed to going into Cheval. She just turned bright red and told them to bugger off. McKenna was told by Jude what time she was to meet him for the picnic and go figure she was running late.

McKenna was pulling on a light sweater as she hurried out to the grounds. Cori hadn’t woken her up since she wasn’t going into the village and she woke up on her own late. She was going to have to apologize a tenfold to Jude. McKenna scanned the grounds and found him. “JUDE!” She shouted with a grin and a wave, then hurried to him.

Jude began to watch clouds as he waited, McKenna was running late. He hoped that she was still coming and hadn't decided to go to Cheval instead. Of course she would never do that to him, but the thought still came to his mind. He dismissed it though because he trusted his best friend. He spotted a clown in the clouds while waiting. He soon got bored with that so he sat back up.

Soon enough, McKenna came running towards him. He grinned and waved. "Hey," he said once she was close enough to listen. "Welcome to my little restuarant. Its name is Jude's Picnic." He grinned at his lame attempted at a joke.

“Hey.” She grinned brightly at him. Jude was so adorable with the picnic all set up. It was precious. McKenna giggled softly (she thought his joke was adorable), “Well, it’s quite the restaurant you got there, mister.” All the food looked amazing.

McKenna excitedly plopped down beside him and grinned. “I’m so glad you asked me to go on a picnic with you. This will be so much fun.” She played with some of the grass. “Next year, we’ll go into Cheval together. It’ll be so much fun.” She looked at all of the foods excitedly. “So, what shall we eat first?”

Jude found himself pretty entertaining and he was glad that McKenna did too. A small smirk formed on his lips as she played along. "Only the best for you," he said trying to do his best French accent but failed horribly. His Irish accent was always getting in the way of trying other accents. He blushed ever so slightly at his comment. He brushed it off though like he hadn't said it at all. It was true that he had done his best for her.

"Who doesn't love picnics," he agreed. "There's food, fresh air, and a beautiful sight. McKenna, I'm going to have to ask you to cover your face because your beauty is blinding." He grinned and covered his eyes. "I knew I should have brought sunglasses," he joked. He uncovered his eyes and grabbed carefully wrapped cups of pudding. "Chocolate or vanilla?" He held out both to her.

McKenna felt the blush form on her cheeks. The best for her? And the adorably horrible French accent. Honestly, she much preferred his Irish accent. “Th-thank you, I’m glad you think I’m worthy of the best.” She smiled shyly. “I’m so lucky to have a friend like you.”

Her mouth fell slightly open at Jude’s new compliment. Her beauty? McKenna didn’t think of herself as all that beautiful. “Don’t forget to pack them next time.” She winked and giggled, taking the chocolate pudding from his hand. “Do we have spoons?” She wasn’t too keen on eating pudding with her hands. “Or are we drinking our pudding?” McKenna teased with a grin.

He grinned when he saw the blush spread across her face. She really was pretty and her smile was the best. "I'm lucky to be me," he joked. Part of him was serious but the other part was just trying to get a laugh. "I'm glad we're friends." And he meant it too. He loved being her friend.

"Itl be the first thing I pack," he promised. He grinned and reached into the basket for spoons. "Here you are," he grinned as he handed over the spoon. "I rather use spoons than drinking the puddin." He laughed. He opened up his pudding and stuck his spoon into it. "So," he started before shoving the pudding into his mouth. "Am I doing well? Have I swept you off your feet with my mad skills?"

She burst into giggles at his joke. Really his jokes were sometimes quite bad, but McKenna found him to be quite amusing and, again, adorable. She grinned at his comment. “I’m really glad too.” McKenna knew he meant it and she meant it too.

Another wide grin on her part and she took the spoon from him. “Thank you, yes, I would have to agree with you on that.” She chuckled and followed suit, practically ripping open the pudding. Scooping up some on her spoon and sighing contently as she ate. Pudding was easily the quickest way to her heart. She pulled the spoon from her lips and giggled. “Oh, yes, I’m swooning, Jude Ross. Might have to tone it down or all the girls will flock to you.” McKenna giggled, teasing him again.

He grinned. She was truly his best friend. He felt as if he could tell her things and she'd listen. He didn't have much to say but it was nice for her to listen to him. The things that came out of his mouth were mostly bad jokes and cheesy pick up lines. But there were times where he was serious and she knew when to be serious with him and vice versa.

"The only girls around me are my mum, you, and Melody." He didn't know much about Melody but he thought them to be friends. She was nice and he liked her red hair. "Melody is ncool," he said before scopping a spoon of pudding into his mouth. "She's like a ninja, she needs a collar with a bell on it so I know when she's coming." She had snuck up on him as he was singing, it was rather embarassing.

McKenna hummed happily eating her pudding. She licked her spoon and let it sit between her lips. Melody? She tilted her head. Who was this Melody girl? She must’ve been someone in Jude’s year because the name was not familiar at all. McKenna pulled the spoon out of her mouth. “Who’s this Melody girl?” She asked with a curious tilt to her head. She hoped Jude wasn’t replacing. McKenna wasn’t sure what she would do if her best friend replaced her with someone else.

She happily finished off her pudding and looked over at Jude shyly. “So, what’s next in our food line up?” McKenna didn’t want to come across as a pig or anything and she knew Jude wouldn’t think of her as such.
