Dresden, Germany: Poor Little Duckling

Melody bit her lip and shivered in the cold winters wind. The snow had fallen early that year and she wanted to check on all of the family animals to make sure that they were okay. She trudged in her winter boots, towards the back of the house and looked at all of the outside ducks. She smiled as she saw the other little ducks following the mommy duck the the nest, however she counted the ducklings and one seemed to be missing. She suddenly got worried and hurried over to the animals and looked into the nest. There sat one single unhatched egg. She gasped and sunk into snow. She felt hot tears run down her cheeks and shook her head. "No...oh you poor baby.." She sobbed and lifted the frozen egg with a heavy heart. She shook her head and sniffled as she got up.

She headed towards the shed and grabbed a small shovel out of the supplies shed and sunk to the ground once again, and starting digging. This little guy would have a proper funeral. She wanted him to be honored, even though he'd never gotten to live the life that he was given. "Poor Little Duckling.." She said once the grave was made and wiped one last tear.
