Possible Goodbyes Empty Possible Goodbyes

Charon hadn't wanted to have this conversation. He wanted to have convinced himself at this point that leaving Beauxbatons would be stupid, but it wasn't. His mother had been severely down on the idea of him pursuing a career in magic after graduating Beauxbatons ever since his dad left them. Charon still wanted to play quidditch after Beauxbatons or become a naturalist at the Ministry and spend his life learning about magical creatures, but his mother thought that stuff was silly now. She still supported him of course. It just wasn't the same enthusiasm she used to have, or she'd reverse his ideas into muggle ones. If he mentioned playing keeper after graduating, then she'd mention playing soccer goalie. If he'd mention being a naturalist, she'd buy him a book on muggle biology. She'd also signed him up for a service his grandmother suggested. It was a muggle boarding school that took place over the summer intended to teach students of magical schools all of the curriculum muggles learned. It turned out Charon was excellent at muggle subjects too, and he'd also started playing goalie for his muggle school's soccer, lacrosse, and ice hockey teams. All this muggle influence was beginning to convince Charon that his only success in life would be as a muggle. If it wasn't for Paige he would already be attending muggle school, but he did have Paige. She was his best friend in the entire world and not being friends with her would be terrible. Then again, there was a muggle girl who lived down the street from him who was his best friend before Paige, and apparently had quite the crush on young Charon. Suffice to say, Charon needed to talk to Paige. He'd convinced his mother that she could sleep over for a couple days and go to his mother's Christmas party. He was sitting on his couch, waiting for Paige's knock. Finally it came, Charon took a halfhearted breath and opened the door. "Paige! Hey! Merry Christmas!"
