Round I: Cerisier vs Nuage

The first game of the term turned out to be perfect weather for a quidditch match. The temperature was a decent balance between not too hot and not too cold and lofty clouds covered a bright sun without showing any threat of rain. Professor Bowen could not have been more pleased. She was eager to see how the new faces on the team would fare, some of them, including Nuage's captain, were quite young. It was always emotional to see players grow up and graduate and move on to better things, but the excitement of meeting and training new players evened things out. At least she could say her job was not a dull one.

"Captains, shake hands," Professor Bowen ordered, perched on her broom with a quaffle beneath her arm. She readied to release it and then, with a toot of her whistle, tossed it into the air.

This was Ryan's first year of the quidditch team. He meant to try out last year but he had other things to do and worry about. He still had the same things to worry about but maybe with quidditch it would get his mind off of his brother and lack of involvement in his life. He missed his brother and he wished he was still here with him. But now he would focus on quidditch and catching the snitch. It was his job to catch the snitch and he would focus on nothing but doing his job properly. No way he going to lose to Nuage.

Once the whistle was blown, he kicked off the ground and zoomed straight up until he reached a good height then stopped. He gripped his broom with both hands and narrowed his eyes. It would prove who the better seeker was.

Indigo was a bit sad that she wouldn't be seeing Cori perform this game. It was Cerisier and Nuage only. But she was pretty sure Cori was in the crowd somewhere along with her twin sister, McKenna. She let out a long sigh before taking her seat and turning on her microphone. "Hello everyone," she said in her soft voice. She had gotten a little better with her fear of people and big crowds. "Welcome to the first game of the quidditch season," she smiled. It was a perfect day to play quiddtch, it was nice and not too warm. The temperature was just perfect.

She took a sip of her water then set it back down. "I'm Indigo Young and I'm happy to be here." At least it wasn't raining or snowing or it wasn't super hot. She didn't mind being out it this weather one bit. It was beautiful. "Congrats to captains."

Trent was so nervous to be a captain. He really wanted to run his team like a machine, but maybe there were times where he was too hard. Oh, well. If there were results in Cerisier's favor, did it matter if his practices weren't easy? Trent just needed to deliver on the promise that hard practices would deliver winning results. He took the field and flew over to Claudette gently shaking her hand before going back to right chaser. The whistle blew and Trent took off. He could feel the air forming a shield around him as he darted towards the quaffle. Trent grinned and caught it, and quickly fired it on the lower left goal post. It snaked just passed the keeper and in for ten points.

Quidditch was good. Christine was more and more into the game now despite some misgivings that perhaps it wasn't exactly ladylike. Her position in particular but she pushed such concerns aside. This was exercise and exercise was good for any lady's health. She had a bat and would be able to hit a bludger at anyone she pleased. Preferably the opposing team but she wasn't completely opposed to hitting a smug boy if he didn't manage to catch the snitch.

She was up in the air in perfect weather for a good game of quidditch, ready to hit bludgers at each and every Nuage player who crossed her bludger's path. "And that is one," she called out as she hit her first bludger of the game. "And two." Christine smiled as she watched the bludger sail through the air toward another Nuage player. This would be a good match today.

Nuage didn't seem like too much of a threat what with all their new players. Milan smiled confidently as she kicked off into the air. She wasn't too happy with Ryan being on the team, but he was a good Seeker so as long as he got the job done...... She saw a Quaffle thrown her way and seized it, barreling towards the goal. She had gotten a new broom over the summer, the latest Nimbus, and so far it was performing brilliantly. Although she respected Trent, she privately made it her goal to beat him. She probably wouldn't dream of sabotaging him, but at least she wanted to get as many goals as he did. Of course, that priority was second to winning the match.

Feeling confident, she urged her broom upward and soared above the game, heading straight to the highest goalpost. It wasn't that hard to get past the Chasers attempting to block her, she simply gripped her broomstick and turned swiftly. Milan was a good distance away from the goal yet she confidently threw the Quaffle in with ease. She soared back down again, smiling, relaxed.

Cerisier was in the lead and it looked like Nuage wasn't even trying. They had yet to score anything and Cerisier had scored three times. There was no doubt in the third year's mind that the blue and green house would win this round. Even though she wasn't in either house, she favored the blue and green. Though she couldn't express her opinion of wanting them to win because Professor Bowen wouldn't like that one bit. You weren't allowed to state your opinions, you could only use facts. "Cerisier is in the lead, looks like they could win this," she grinned.

Another goal was scored by Cerisier and there was no doubt in Indigo's mind that they were going to win this. "Forty to zero."

Cerisier: 40

Nuage was doing terrible, it was like they weren't even trying. This was going to be so easy, he was going to catch that snitch without even trying. He watched the other players score and Nuage trying to stop them. It was like looking at monkeys trying to play quidditch, they had no clue what they were doing. Ryan wouldn't laugh though, his mind was set on finding and capturing that snitch. He was so determined to show that he was the best seeker Cerisier has ever had. In his mind, he was. Even though he had yet to catch the snitch. But there was no doubt in his mind that he wouldn't catch it. It was his job and he planned on doing it right. No matter what was going on in his life at the moment, he was focused on this game like his life depended on it.

Finally, his eyes caught site of a beautiful golden color and he knew he was the first to see the snitch. The other seeker was no where to be see. He had this, he was going to do this. It was all up to him. He held onto his broom tightly and sped towards the small ball. It was anything but easy chasing after that little thing, he was sent up and down and all around. The other seeker had noticed and was now after the snitch too. The orange and yellow clad player rammed himself against the fifth year. Pain shot up his right side but he wasn't about to give up. Instead, he sped up and reached for the gold.

His fingers wrapped around the snitch as the other seeker rammed into him again. But it was too late for him to do anything, he had caught the snitch. Cerisier, the better team, had won the game. He held up the snitch proudly and smirked towards the other team as he made his way to the ground.

Milan grinned, they were going to win this one for sure, even the announcers thought so. A Nuage Chaser, miraculously, got hold of the Quaffle and clumsily tossed it to a teammate. She lunged forward, grabbing the Quaffle and headed down to the goalposts. It wasn't hard, the Nuage chasers seemed to have given up. They made a few halfhearted attempts to block her but she dodged easily. Three quarters of the way she heard the crowd roaring and turned. The snitch...Ryan was heading towards the snitch.... Heart thumping, she accelerated the broom and threw the Quaffle in a long-distance shot. Milan looked over the shoulder at the cheering crowd and saw that Ryan had caught the snitch milliseconds before she'd made her goal. Grinning, she swooped down onto the ground, landing softly and joining her teammates.

In the five years on the team Christine couldn't recall Cerisier ever playing this well before. They were on fire and she was very pleased with how well they were doing against Nuage. If they didn't win this she would be very surprised. And just to make sure the opposition didn't pull any surprises out of the bag she made sure to keep players occupied with dodging bludgers. Christine couldn't recall ever playing this well before.

She aimed one bludger toward the Nuage seeker but it'd turned out to be pointless as Ryan had assured the Cerisier's win. Christine may not like her new teammate very much but she had manners and thus said, "Well done Ryan." They'd won and even she coudn't deny that he possibly may be a much better seeker than Stephanie had been. He was just wrong when it came to her singing voice compared to his brother but right now this was about Quidditch and not music.

Charlotte smiled and was excited to go out and spend the night with Philip or to jut read and study in her dorm room. "Cerisier wins by a score of 290-0. This is the first shutout of this disparity that I have ever announced in my time as an announcer for Beauxbatons. Congratulations to Cerisier for moving onto the next stage of competition. They will be meeting Feu for the cup coming up soon, that's all for this week, thank you." Charlie hurried from the box to get changed in her normal clothes and then went off to find her Montagnard boyfriend.
