Daniel knocked on Heather’s door gently. Back at the orphanage, Daniel had to help her with her reading and now he was helping her with her homework. He didn’t mind, he loved helping Heather out. Plus, this was a good way to spend time with her. Daniel had been doing a poor job of evenly sharing his time with his two best friends, more of his time was being given to Melody, which wasn’t fair at all. He pushed his glasses up his nose and tapped his foot while waiting for Heather to answer the door. Daniel hoped she hadn’t forgotten, that would’ve been pretty embarrassing.

Heather opened the door, half expecting to see Melody at his side, but she wasn't. "Hey Daniel." She said with a smile at him. She was so happy to spend time with him. Even if it was to do school work, it was still time with Daniel which was literally her favorite thing to do. He was so smart and handsome and wonderful, but Melody was the better friend. It wasn't Heather's fault that other people wanted to talk to her than just Daniel." Heather sighed and bit her lip. "We're working on potions stuff, is that okay? I'm really really really bad at that.

Daniel wasn’t going to bring Melody with him to these tutoring sessions with Heather. That would just be rude and not fair to Heather. Melody always got alone time and yeah. Daniel was all about trying to be fair. He smiled gently and nodded. “Potions is a-okay. I’ll help you become a pro.” He walked into the room. “Should we sit on the floor or one your bed? Either works, but it might be easier to stay focused on the floor.” Daniel rambled off. He was notorious for studying on his bed and then just falling asleep. Either way, Daniel set his bag on the floor and plopped onto Heather's bed, waiting for her answer.

"On the bed?" She asked, resting next to him with her head right on his chest, smiling. To be honest she would be fine with not learning anything other than how comfy Daniel's chest was. She wasn't ever going to be as good as he was or as good as Melody, and Heather understood that. It was fine. So what if that made Melody a billion times better than her? Daniel wanted to be with Melody no matter what, right? There was nothing Heather could ever do to compete with her which for Heather was the most annoying thing ever. She really liked Daniel, but she didn't have a chance.

“Perfectly fine.” He chuckled and wrapped an arm around her. Daniel supposed they could relax for a little bit. He didn’t think that either of his friends were better than the other. And he certainly didn’t think that Heather was below him or Melody. In fact he always put Heather on a pedestal where she belonged. She was better than him that was for sure. Maybe Daniel was starting to like Melody, but he was entirely sure yet and then there was the confusing feelings that he also shared for Heather. He contained a sigh. All of it was confusing because Heather certainly deserved someone popular like herself and not Daniel.

Heather's fingers curled in his shirt. He was so sweet and kind to her. He really didn't have to be that kind to her. Heather felt like she was a complete idiot. She smiled against Daniel's chest. Daniel was so smart, and he was really talented with the guitar and Heather was so lucky to even know Daniel. Let alone have him as her best friend in the whole wide expansive world. Heather yawned quietly and nuzzled into his chest. "We could do potions tomorrow, and just cuddle today? I'm in a cuddling mood as far as today goes." Heather murmured.

Screw homework. Heather wanted cuddling and that was exactly what she was going to get. Daniel enveloped her in his arms and held her close. “Potions tomorrow sounds like a plan.” He murmured softly and yawned. Her yawning was contagious now. Daniel curled up with Heather on her bed. He close his eyes and almost drifted off to sleep. Apparently he was much more tired than he thought he was. He yawned again more softly and buried his face into Heather’s hair. He was a pretty lucky guy to have Heather as a best friend. Yeah, he was pretty darn lucky.

Heather smiled against his chest and was pretty close to falling asleep herself the moment was perfect. "Would you be mad if I took a nap on your chest?" She flushed when his face buried into her hair. She snuggled even closer to Daniel, and was already closing her eyes. His touch always made her so comfortable and when everyday you got up at five to spend an hour on makeup a comforting touch was basically an instant fall asleep. She didn't wake up until like three hours later at four. She stretched and smiled down at Daniel. She absolutely adored when she got to cuddle him.
