Quidditch Tryouts: Montagnard Empty Quidditch Tryouts: Montagnard

Post by Professor Bowen Sun Jul 06, 2014 10:08 pm

It was that time of year again, the beginning of a new year at Beauxbatons meaning it was once again time for quidditch tryouts. This was one of the professor's favorite times to be the flying instructor, however it could also be very stressful to choose students for the teams especially since their were only two teams and a ton of students wanting to be on those two teams. However she was always able to decide in the end and she just loved the happy looks on the students faces when they flew around the pitch and you could always see that moment when each one of them finally got some confidence in their tryout performance. There used to be a time when she could just hold all of the tryouts for both teams and the commentators at the same time now she had to stagger them throughout the day. The first tryouts this Saturday morning was the tryouts for the Montagnard team.

Professor Bowen walked out onto the quidditch pitch to see a group of excited students standing in the center, some scared looking and others confident. She stood in the middle and quickly got everyones attention, "Alright everyone welcome to this years Montagnard Quidditch Tryouts." She said loud enough for everyone to hear her. "How this is going to work is like this. The only position not available on the Montagnard team is the chaser position. You will be notified when the tryout results are in." She told them all slowly to be sure they all understood. "Alright so with that let's get started and yes you may tryout for more than one position." She finished before starting the tryouts.

Quidditch Tryouts: Montagnard Empty Re: Quidditch Tryouts: Montagnard

Heather was so nervous when she was called up. Of course, she'd flown and played keeper with her brother Trent all summer. It was just in the moment where she had to be the best-she was scared. She ran a hand through her hair and realized it was in a ponytail. Right. Here goes nothing. She hopped on the broom and took off towards the keep. She nibbled down on her lip and watched as the chasers took their formations.

She easily blocked the first two shots on goal. Maybe that was what gave her the confidence for the next one. Or maybe it was that she wanted to prove herself. Or maybe she knew not making the team would be another thing that was less than stellar about her, and Daniel would think less of her. She'd be just a dumb air head. She gritted her teeth and read the chasers formation. She took off as fast as she could, intercepting the pass and humming it down the field. It had lost velocity by the end of the throw, but soared into the goal. Once she was done, Heather landed and smiled.

Quidditch Tryouts: Montagnard Empty Re: Quidditch Tryouts: Montagnard

Cori was only here on a dare, and because of a game she'd fell in love with over the summer. Cori had quietly fallen in love with flying during her first year at Beauxbatons and when her father had agreed to buy her a broom she must have tackled him in the strongest hug ever. Over the summer Cori had developed a game with McKenna. They'd go to a private area and McKenna would take a Gatorade bottle cap and throw it up in the air. Cori would try (and usually successfully) catch it before it hit the ground, no matter how far, how high, how low, or how far McKenna threw the bottle cap. Even the Arnett parents (who were very muggle, but had brushed up on things like quidditch to connect with their children) realized Cori Arnett had a talent. So, one night, quite literally the entire Arnett family dared Cori to tryout for seeker.

Cori didn't want to, and at first rejected the idea, but then...she kind of decided to go for it. Worst thing that happened she was rejected by people. It's not like that was anything new to her. So, Cori mounted her broom as the golden snitch was released and the whole world stopped. Cori spent several minutes sitting still and listening. She heard a soft hum and took off. Instinctively she hunted the noise while adrenaline carried her across the air. Finally, she saw a flash of gold and let go of the broom catching the snitch with her bottom hand and clasping the top of it with her other. Ten minutes it took her. Not too bad at all.

Quidditch Tryouts: Montagnard Empty Re: Quidditch Tryouts: Montagnard

Harley had trained for quite a while for the position of beater, but before last year, the positions were filled, and the year after that, she was too sick to try out. She was bummed for about a week before putting even more hard work and determination into getting the beater position. Eijah was a beater also when he attended school at Beauxbatons, so he had coached her all summer. The training had even resulted in a broken arm when she fell off her broom. Patiently waiting for the chasers to finish their tryouts, she made sure that her gloves fit nicely and her grip on the bat was strong and firm. When the whistle finally blew for the beaters to lineup, she made sure that she stood at the front of the line with a newfound confidence. At the next chirp of the whistle, she kicked strongly into the air, one hand tight on her broom, the other around her bat.

As soon as the first bludger was thrown into the air, Harley chased after it and whipped the bat towards it, sending across the field directly at the decoy. The second was tossed up not a moment later, so she darted after it quickly and let out a small laugh once she sent it spiraling away from her. Playing in the beater position always made her happy for some reason. The final bludger was launched into the air, so she raced after it and swung the bat, making the bludger go flying, aimed directly at the third decoy. She ave a small smile before brining the broom down and dismounting swiftly.
