Quidditch Tryouts Empty Quidditch Tryouts

Post by Professor Bowen Sun Aug 10, 2014 8:08 pm

It was that time of year again, the beginning of a new year at Beauxbatons meaning it was once again time for quidditch tryouts. This was one of the professor's favorite times to be the flying instructor, however it could also be very stressful to choose students for the teams especially since their were only two teams and a ton of students wanting to be on those two teams. However she was always able to decide in the end and she just loved the happy looks on the students faces when they flew around the pitch and you could always see that moment when each one of them finally got some confidence in their tryout performance. There used to be a time when she could just hold all of the tryouts for both teams and the commentators at the same time now she had to stagger them throughout the day. The first tryouts this Saturday morning was the tryouts for the Montagnard team.

Professor Bowen walked out onto the quidditch pitch to see a group of excited students standing in the center, some scared looking and others confident. She stood in the middle and quickly got everyones attention, "Alright everyone welcome to this year's Quidditch Tryouts." She said loud enough for everyone to hear her. "How this is going to work is like this. The only position not available on the Montagnard team is the chaser position. You will be notified when the tryout results are in." She told them all slowly to be sure they all understood. "Alright so with that let's get started and yes you may tryout for more than one position." She finished before starting the tryouts.

ooc:

PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO TRYOUTS FOR ANNOUNCERS THIS TERM

Quidditch Tryouts Empty Re: Quidditch Tryouts

Quidditch was the perfect sport for the fifth year, he just had to try out. He knew he'd get the position he was interested I'm, there was no better than him. He just had to wait for everyone else to try out. He flexed his fingers as he waited. It was best to limber up as he waited, it would help him perform better. Finally, it was his time to shine.

He mounted his broom and kicked off the ground. Now that everyone else was done all the attention was on him. He closed his eyes to listen for the flutter of the snitch's wings. Everyone was quiet, all he could hear was his own breathing. He slowly opened his eyes and looked around. Finally, his eyes caught sight of the golden ball. He leaned forward and took off as fast as he could. He reached out for the small ball but it was just out of his reach.

The ball zoomed downward and Ryan was right on its tail. He reached out his hand once more amd this time, his fingers wrapped around the tiny thing. "Yes!" He held up the now closed snitch before landing back on the ground.

Quidditch Tryouts Empty Re: Quidditch Tryouts

Beauregard didn't even know why he was there. He was a first year and had never played quidditch before he started attending Beauxbatons academy. He had been thrilled by the feeling of flying during his first flying lesson and when the class ended and Professor Bowen mentioned Quidditch Tryouts to the class, Bo felt tempted. Somehow he had convinced himself to give it a go and found himself on the field, watching as an older student did the drill for seeker; the same position he desired. Bo was thanking his lucky stars that the older boy wasn't in the same house as him or else he was sure not to get the position.

Suddenly it was his turn and Beauregard mounted his broom and took to the sky with shaking hands. He was flying slower than usual, with extreme caution. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath as Bowen told him to go. His eyes opened, scanning his surroundings to find that little golden ball. He couldn't see it, so he moved around a bit, perhaps a bit too quickly and helter shelter. He panicked as it seemed to him that the snitch was no where to be seen. How embarrassing he must've seemed, darting around without any aim. "Where are you?" He whispered beneath his breath. He wanted to fly back to the ground and quit, but then he saw it.

Bo wasted no more time, lunging forward and going as fast as the school broom would fly. He turned sharply as the snitch switched directions on him, almost falling off the broom. He thought he was going to fall for a moment before his hand caught the neck of the broom and he was able to reposition himself on it.

The snitch was his now. It was close enough to him, if only he could fly a bit faster, stretch his arm a bit further. He scooted forward on the broom, leaning out past where the broom ended. Just a little further and success! He closed his fingers quickly, just as he felt his balance fail him.

Quidditch Tryouts Empty Re: Quidditch Tryouts

Lucie had no understanding of Quidditch. She understood flying now after one lesson but the game was still a mystery to her. Thus her plan had been to come to the tryouts and watch everyone else. With Montagnard first she had plenty of time to observe and decided if and how she would make an attempt for Feu house. It was very hard to follow and so she spent part of the time skimming the Quidditch book she'd borrowed from the school library.

"I think I've got it," she declared to herself with a nod and set the book aside. And it was is time too for it was now time for her own house tryouts. The positions were in order and the one she'd decided to try for was keeper. None of the others sounded easy and at least keeper sounded a bit like goalie in football, something her older brother made her do on occasion when he was trying to make her act more like a boy than a girl.

At the call for keepers Lucie was there near the back. There was no backing out now. Soon it was her turn and she pushed off the ground to hover in front of the hoops. A quaffle came at her and she managed to block it. The next was more difficult as she forgot there were three hoops. Lucie shook her head and watched for the next quaffle to come at her. This time she managed to make it to the right hoop but the quaffle bounced off her head and into the hoop. She was sure she could have blocked it if she'd moved her head in the opposite direction but her tryout was now over.

Quidditch Tryouts Empty Re: Quidditch Tryouts

I am going to nail this thing, Claudette thought in her brain. She was decked out in her Quidditch clothes (which comprised of shorts and a tank top) and her long hair up in the messiest bun you could have imagined. Her father was a star player on the Cerisier team as a keeper. Whenever Claudette played Quidditch with her family, she was always the beater. These games usually resulted in someone having a broken bone because of a nasty bludger.

But today, nothing was going to ruin her absolutely perfect run to be a beater. Claudette mounted herself on her broom and took off. She sped her way across the field, scanning her way for any bludgers to hit. And, of course, a particularly mean one was heading her way. Claudette clutched the small bat beaters used to whack bludgers into someone's face and swung at the incoming bludger. Surprisingly, the bludger was slammed into the wall harshly.

The only thing left was a funny catchphrase. "I'm the bludger bully!" the firstie exclaimed.
