"Singing?" Osmund said aloud, though the comment of disbelief was mainly to himself. Osmund Hollow didn't sing, not aloud and certainly not for an audience. All singing by him was saved for the shower and behind his closed door in his room, with the wireless playing loud enough to cover up his voice. He would never admit to that, though. Word had it that he sniffed books, he didn't need other weird rumors about him circulating the school.

The Oullet crossed his arms across his chest in protest and slunk back in his chair, hoping that between his fowl mood and his near invisibility, the professor wouldn't think of calling upon him either for fear of an angry student or inability to notice him.

"This is daft," Osmund muttered beneath his breath. He had heard of this 'melodic studies' class, but he had gotten a hand-me-down guitar for that and expected not to sing. Yet there the professor was, encouraging them to all give it a shot. 'No one has ever died from singing,' it had been said, though Osmund knew there was always a first time. "You go first," Osmund turned and said to the person in the seat next to him. He'd rather them over himself.

Melodic Studies was the one class that Christian most definitely not looking forward to but of course that only meant that that was going to be one of the first classes he had to attend every week. What could be better than starting you week off with a Monday morning melodic study? The dirty blonde could name off an innumerable about of things actually. However none of those things were an option today so he was forced to go and sit in the dreaded room. He had picked a seat near the back in attempts to not be noticed by any of the students or the teacher who as soon as class was started insisted everyone sing. The young casavant had no musical ability and that went double for singing.

He thought he was doing a nice job of avoiding notice and hopefully avoiding having to sing when the student sitting next to him volunteered him to go. He was about to say something but stopped when he realized he knew that voice. He looked over to find it was Osmund the cranky boy from the robe shop. "Oh no I took the needles for you it's your turn this time." Christian said in a slightly humorous way but completely and utterly serious way also. At least if the boy didn't sing he was sure he could kick up enough of a fuss to run off some of the time for from the class period.

Linette wasn't sure why they had Melodic Studies at Beauxbatons. It didn't exactly sound like learning magic to her. However, she did like to sing. Therefore she was really looking forward to this class. The irony about her love for singing was her dislike for listening to music or other people sing. Her brother had often teased her about how illogical she was in that regard but it was just the way Linette was.

She grinned at the two boys sitting in front of her and their grumbling. The mention of needles sounded interesting but she had more important things on her mind like singing the song put in front of her. "I'll go first," she said. At least it was a song she knew. She stood and sang through the whole song earning some praise from their professor. Linette sat down again with a smirk. Now for the boring part of listening to everyone else sing.

Katie leaned back in her chair and frowned. Melodic Studies?! It seemed like a completely pointless subject, to her at least. She had come to the school with expectations of magic and Quidditch, it was more Quidditch to be honest. Singing was useless to her, it was stupid!

Sticking her legs out to rest on the chair in front of her and reached into her pocket and pulled out a small ball, it was about the size of a snitch and the red head started to throw it between her hands, smirking slightly when she noticed Linette sitting a little way in front of her. Katie saw that 'Mund and Christian was with her.

"Oy!" She whispered across, "Anybody want to play catch? I want to practice my Chaser skills!" Katie knew that at least one of the trio sat over there would play, if not, well, she'd just throw it at their heads....

Perhaps it was just irony or perhaps Osmund was just developing a habit of throwing the Cassavant under the bus, but it hadn't been until Christian mentioned needles that Osmund realized it. The Oullett raised his shoulders and let the drop in a manner that showed it didn't bother him any. He supposed, though, that he was trapped on this one and would have to go first, that was, until, another had spoken up.

Osmund turned to look at his savior, frowning only when he caught her face. Linette, of course. He should've known the moment he realized the Oullett's had this class with the Cassavants that she would be there. He half-listened to the girl belt out the song and went back to trying to become invisible. "I noticed a disappearing charm in our charm's books. Think it's too much for a first year to manage by himself?" Osmund spoke in a hushed voice to Christian.

When Linette had finished, she received much praise from the professor and some scattered applause from the class, all sounded as background noise as the Oullett turned to face the ginger calling to him. He noticed the ball in her hands and held up his hands to catch it. As soon as the ball was clasped in his grasp, he felt a tap on his shoulder.

"Mr. Hollow, since you clearly think it is alright to not pay attention, how about you go next?"

Osmund's face paled as he handed the ball over towards Christian and sheepishly stood up, tripping slightly on the leg of his chair. Fixing his posture and looking nervously everywhere but the teacher's face, Osmund began. His tempo was slower than that of Linette's, but it was steady as he recalled the lyrics and notes, hitting the wrong one every now and then, but always catching it in time to fix it. When the last few notes had been sung, the Oullett sunk back into his seat with a reddened face and kept his head down. "I never want to do that again."

Christian was determined not tot go first no matter what, this time Osmund was not going to stick the dirty blonde with the worse side of the situation. He had had to deal with being poked by a needle about a zillion times at the robe shop he was not going to be the first one to sing in this class. However it turned out neither of them had to suffer through being the first one to sing for someone behind them offered to go first. He turned around to see a girl stand up and sing her heart out the girl looked familiar he was pretty sure he had seen in while he was doing his shopping. Linette was her name maybe, possibly he hoped it was. He half listened to her sing and more to Osmund's whispering.

He had been about to answer the boy when the professor came over to tell Osmund that he was to go next since he had caught the ball Katie had thrown from behind them. Christian listened as the dark haired boy sang his face turning redder the longer he sang. By the time the boy was seated again his face was darker than any tomato the Casavant had ever seen. "Oh and I think you would have to work at that charm to get it done." He answered with a small smile before he stood up and tossed the ball back to Katie before taking his turn to sang. He was pretty quite in his rendition and not very fast but he was fairly accurate with the notes, at least he was better than he thought he would be. He quickly sat back down afterwards ignoring the scattered clapping from the class the professor's compliments and suggestions. Why was there even a music class at this school?
