Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round II Empty Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round II

Post by Professor Bowen Fri Mar 14, 2014 7:35 pm

Another day another quidditch match. The matches in the winter were always the most interesting, the weather always proved to be an interesting factor and the players always surprised her with their ability to make due with the hard conditions. In previous years they had been faced with freezing rain, snow storms, and even super sunny days where the snow became blinding. Today though when Professor Bowen left the palace for the match she found there was very little snow on the ground and the sun was out, there was still a brisk breeze keeping the air very cold, but compared to previous years the weather was amazing. Perhaps the students would have a harder time today simply because they were surprised by the nice weather. The breeze would keep the air colder in the air so the players would still have to bundle up but it would be a good game.

Professor Bowen waked out onto the pitch with her broom in hand with a smile on her face. It was a cold day but it was still a beautiful day. She watched the students start to file into the stands all bundled up, but at least today they would be able to see the game. When the players started walking out onto the pitch she could tell they too were surprised by the nice weather. "Alright everyone, let's have a nice clean game today. Captain's please shake hands and let the game begin." She released the balls in the usual order before blowing her whistle and starting the game.

Match ends on March 21st.

Paige was overjoyed that her team had won the first match this year and she planned on making sure that continued. She couldn't remember the last time, if ever, a team won all three matches of the year but she wanted to work hard enough to make her team do just that this year. Montagnard had gotten new players this year and so far they seemed to be proving their worth and the team was better than ever. Of course with Marie-Laure's superb captain skills there was no surprise the newbies were doing so well, not to mention the old members were playing better than ever this year as well. Paige bounded onto the field in a great mood, not just from winning the last match but because the weather was so nice this time of year instead of the usual terrible stuff they were faced with.

She stood on the Montagnard side with the rest of her team as her captain went to shake hands and as soon as the whistle was blown she kicked off the ground to chase down some bludgers. She immediately tried to smack one in the direction of a Cerisier figuring if she could hit someone on their way up it would throw them off more than usual. She wasn't sure if it actually hit anyone for as soon as it flew off she got a cold chill down her spine that made her have to focus on holding on to her bat and broom instead of the direction of the bludger, but she was sure if it hit someone she would find out soon enough.

A new game on the back of a win. Marie-Laure was ready to get moving on with it and win again. She did, however, glance at her two fellow chasers with a little trepidation. The one goal Fiona Miller scored was a fluke and Stark Green had yet to impress her. "Everyone do not let your guard down just because we won last game. That was last game. One win will not win us the cup. Win this time and it is ours." Pressure? Sure but they needed it.

She reached out to shake Quinn's hand before preparing herself for the signal to begin. They had to win this game. She needed to prove to the school that the last game was no fluke. They'd one it fair and square with their superior skill. Again her eyes travelled to the other two chasers. Well the skill of most of the team anyway. It was time to begin and Marie-Laure was off to grab the quaffle.

Fiona whistled on her way down to the pitch, school broom hanging over one shoulder. She was doing quite well at hiding the nervousness she felt over once more getting onto a broom and flying up in the air whilst trying to catch a snitch. A quaffle. Snitches were for seekers. Quaffles were for chasers and Fiona hoped the snitch would be nowhere near her this time.

The whistle soon died on her lips. Was the captain glaring at her? She looked toward her fellow chaser to see if he was feeling the vibes coming from their captain. With only one goal achieved from her and that purely by accident it wasn't very surprising but Fiona had no clue how Stark did simply because her eyes had been shut for most of the match.

Once again Fiona hesitated before finally pushing off after the other players. She swallowed as she was hovering up in the air once more and decided it was wises if she just let Captain Sylvian go for the Quaffle. No point in risking life and limb when the sixth year was more capable than herself.

After winning last game, Payton was feeling very proud of himself. He knew that it wasn't just luck that he had caught the snitch, it was because of skill. Some still doubted that him and that he only got lucky, but he was going to prove them wrong. He was going to prove that he was a great seeker even if he wasn't as small or graceful as the other seeker. He was kind of shocked about the nice weather, but he didn't think about it for too long. Once the whistle was blown, he mounted his broom and kicked off.

It was still a bit cold out but at least he didn't have to worry about snow getting in the way of his seeking skills. He wanted the game to go well and he wanted to catch that snitch again. Going out in a bang was exactly what he had in mind.

Caleb was shocked that the weather was so nice today, it wasn't snowing like it usually was. After the win for Montagnard last game, the team seemed to be in a better mood and Cerisier would be more determined. "Welcome to another game of Quidditch, the weather seems to be in our favor today." Whatever happened today, Caleb would be content with the outcome. It would be nice to see another win under Montagnard's belt, but he just wanted to see a good game. "If Montagnard wins this game, they win the cup for their house. If Cerisier wins, it all comes down to the final game of the season to see who takes home the cup."

The first goal went to Montagnard, which was great in his book. He hoped his cousin could score a goal on purpose this game instead of on accident like she had last game. She could only improve from here.

Trent was frozen, but he was excited. He had a long sleeved shirt on underneath his uniform and his drive to win this match burning in his chest. He was annoyed that they hadn't won the last game and if they didn't win this game he would be crushed inside.

He mounted his broom, letting the scent of mahogany fill his nostrils. He loved flying so much. It was an escape from everything bad in the world, including the recent crisis with the fée. It didn't take long after the whistle for Trent to find the quaffle two times for two goals. Life was definitely good.

Mabel was sure that their last win wasn't a fluke and that they were having better luck this year than last. She was determined this game, they just had to win again. If they won this round, they'd win the cup for the year. She sort of looked up to the captain, she didn't care if she had to yell at someone. She wanted to be the captain once Marie-Laure graduated, she believed she would be a great leader.

Once the whistle was blown, Mabel kicked off the ground and headed towards a bludger. She needed to hit the new girl because she had missed last game, one way or another she was going to get hit with the ball. She smirked over towards the new beater and then turned back to finding a bludger.

Stark was by no means an aspiring quidditch star, nor did he think he had enough skill to be one. But something had made him walk out to the pitch for tryouts, and somehow he had been good enough to get a spot on the team. He had thought getting a spot on the team had given him enough of a confidence booster to preform well in the game, however he had been wrong. Montagnard had won the game but with very little help from Stark, sure he had touched the quaffle a few times but he was merely the middle man that passed it from one chaser to another to get it to the goal post. The boy intended on making up for that this match though.

The weather outside was not frightful boosting the strawberry blondes confidence even more. Once the red and purple clad captain looked his way though he felt that aforementioned confidence dying a bit. Everyone new his performance last match was just barely helpful and he was surprised Captain Sylvian didn't yell at him more. He looked over at the other chaser and nodded as if it say they would both do better this game.

As soon as the whistle was blown Stark kicked off the ground with more force than ever and somehow he found that he was the first to make it to the quaffle. With that amazing start he wasted no time in taking the quaffle towards the Cersieir side of the pitch however before he could make it to the hoops he had to throw it to his fellow chaser. Thankfully they caught it and scored, Stark cheered but wasted no time in chasing after the quaffle again. Cerisier scored three times before Montagnard could the quaffle back long enough to take it back to the opposite set of goals, the game was now tied but Stark knew enough about quidditch to know that wasn't good enough.

Stephanie had started out so well as Cerisier's seeker and it'd gone downhill from there. Two losses in a row and she felt it keenly. Technically the last match hadn't been a loss but it had been because of her failure the teams drew. This year was made worse by the fact she'd failed in front of her younger sister.

She shivered a little as she hovered above the pitch and glanced over to where the Montagnard seeker was and onto her younger sister who'd managed to hit a bludger at a teammate last match. Stephie didn't know which shocked her more. The fact that Christine didn't aim correctly or that she managed to hit a bludger at all. She bit her lip and sighed before beginning to hum a tune. Something to keep her focused on finding the snitch rather than daydream or worry about Christine.

The first game of the season had left Quinn down in the doldrums with their loss. He had been so confident that they had this year in the bag that it was truly a let down for him. Of course he made adjustments in the practices to come, but this meant a lot depended on winning this game. If they lost, that meant they lost the cup.

The blue haired boy shook hands with his rival before turning back to the team, this time purposefully not wishing her good luck, thinking he needed it more than his competitive friend. Though he rose to his spot and hurried towards the quaffle, a bludger aimed at the flurry of chasers sent him backing away and he lost the first goal to Montagnard. "C'mon! Get it together Quinn!" He told himself, before lunging forward on his broom after the quaffle.

Though they lost the first goal, Quentin made sure to stay on top of Montagnard with goals. The two teams remained pretty even, but with another goal through the hoop, Cerisier was in the lead. He grinned at the comeback, but knew very well that the game was still young and the snitch still needed to be caught if they were going to have a chance at that cup.

Fane was well prepared to dress warm for snowy weather, like he was usually required to do so for the winter game. However, peeking out his window that morning, the sky was clear and a lovely shade of blue, so he left the mittens and hat on his bed and wore his fingerless gloves and put up his hood instead before he headed down to the pitch.

"Yes, the sky is a most incredible shade of blue and call me crazy but I've been doing my Divinations homework and I believe that is an omen that Cerisier will be leaving with a win today," Fane said, in response to Caleb's greeting. He sat back and let the blonde explain the situation and then watched as the game begun.

"Players have wasted no time, as beater fairy-princess has already sent a fiendish bludger out after the chasers. I see Montagnard is in for the blood this time. And- oh man! Montagnard has scored! Who did that!? Was it freckle-face? Oh but that's nothing to worry about! Cerisier is already catching up and quickly! That's 30-10, Cerisier in the lead!" His voice rang out. He took a sip of coffee before chiming in again.

"Looks like it's gonna be another close game, as Montagnard is already starting to catch up. Woah, wait? Is that Stark I see? I didn't know he was on the team!? No wonder I detected the teams were a bit hotter today than usual," Fane was genuinely surprised to see his fellow friend on the pitch, but before he could dwell on it any longer, Cerisier scored another goal and the Cerisier let out a cheer. "Cerisier is back in the lead!"

Christine was still recovering from the humiliation of the last game and hitting a bludger at her own teammates. The only bludger she managed to hit for the entire game. This game she was going to do better and not only keep an eye on the beater who hit the bludger at her but also on where she was hitting it. A tall order for a small first year.

The game had barely begun and already the first part of her plan was in action. She hadn't quite counted on what happened next. The bludger hit her bat and then both bat and bludger continued on the same path. Christine looked behind her in horror and shouted at the other Cerisier beater, "catch my bat!"

Montagnard was losing, but they weren't far behind, They could easily get ahead of Cerisier at any moment, but what Mabel worried about was their seeker catching that blasted snitch. It wasn't luck that he had caught the snitch last game, it was skill. Skill was something the Cerisier team lacked, their new beater managed to drop her bat this game. Mabel held back a laugh and chased after a bludger. It was time to take that horrible beater out. She hit the ball hard with her bat towards the younger girl. If she wasn't any good then why try out for quidditch at all? How did she even make the Cerisier team? It was probably because they were all full of losers.

She didn't waste any time getting back into the game. Other people needed to be knocked off their brooms. Montagnard was still behind, which was getting on Mabel's nerves. That stupid seeker needed to catch that snitch. Montagnard's stupid seeker, not Cerisier's.

Montagnard was behind by several goals, Cerisier was doing an impressive job scoring. "Looks like Mabel has it out for the new beater," Caleb noted. "Last game she aimed bludger at her and now she's doing it again." It was her job to hit people and hit the bludgers away from the red and purple players, she was just doing her job. "Montagnard is a couple of goals behind Cerisier. I believe Montagnard will win this because their seeker is very determined, it's his last year at Beauxbatons!" It was kind of sad to see the seeker go but it meant that someone new could try out and there would be a new face on the team. "The new beater dropped her bat!" Caleb tried to hold back a laugh, but he failed.

"Montagnard scores again, keep scoring guys! I wonder if the Cerisier seeker will get her head out of the clouds today."

As a beater, Mabel's job was to hit the bludgers so when a bludger came towards a fellow member, she hurried towards it so she could hit it before it hit her teammate. She didn't think the ball would be going to fast so before she could hit the ball away, it crashed right into her side. Pain shot up and down her body, there was no way she could play now. She was in too much pain to go on. "I'm done," she said weakly to the player she had protected. "Make sure we win." She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding before carefully flying to the ground.

She needed assistance getting off the field, she knew she was going to be in the infirmary for a while. She hoped she got some good news when the game was over.

Things were getting a bit crazy on the field; first the Cerisier dropped her bat, then the mean beater on Montagnard's team was hit and was now out of the game. Payton needed to catch the snitch now, before things got worse. The things that occurred weren't too bad, but there was no need for someone else to get hurt too. He just needed to find that snitch and get his hands on it.

He bit his lap and fly around the pitch, keeping an eye out for a hint of gold. If he caught the snitch, he'd feel great. He needed to go out with a bang and if he caught the snitch all three games he'd make that bang. Cerisier scored once more, they were still ahead of Montagnard. "Come on," he whispered, he looked around for the golden ball. It was now or never, he needed that tiny ball.

If Fane thought Cerisier was going to win, he thought wrong. There was no way the green and blue team would win, they just couldn't Payton wasn't a sore loser, but this game meant a lot to the seventh year. He let out a sigh before he caught sight of gold. A small smile formed on his face as he chased after the golden ball. "Come on, come on," he muttered, he reached for the tiny thing. He closed his hand around the ball. "Yes!" He held his arm in the air. "I caught the snitch!"

Montagnard was doing reasonably well and Green had at least good judgement as to when to try and score and when to pass the quaffle to another chaser.  Thankfully herself and not Miller who didn't even appear to know what a quaffle was for.  How did she get on the team again?  She scored and blocked out the bleating sound of the announcer who sounded he took lessons off the one who graduated a couple of years back.  The other two at least stuck to what was happening in the game.

The scores were close with Cerisier usually one or two goals ahead of Montagnard.  "Johnson," Marie-Laure shouted, "get..."  She stopped as the seeker did the very thing she was about to tell him to do.  "Good work Johnson.  Same to you Beater Miller."  Mabel's efforts had not gone without notice.  Marie-Laure had originally wondered at her method of hitting bludgers at the younger Cerisier beater but when it was clear the girl was as bad as the other Miller on her own team the strategy was a good one.

Right now though Marie-Laure wanted to celebrate two wins in a row.  Two wins which meant no matter the results next match Montagnard had won the cup.  'Let's try for a clean sweep of the matches," she said to her team.  "For now go hit the showers."  She turned in Quinn's direction and smiled with pleasure had having beaten him this, their second year at captaincy on their respective teams.

Fiona hovered on her broom with her eyes shut for most of the game. Not a safe thing to do with bludgers getting hit all over the place but she had other fears on her mind. Iron balls had not entered into any of her daydreams of what might happen in a Quiditch game. She knew she wasn't of much use and opened one eye a crack when Fane didn't sound certain if it was Captain Sylvian or herself who made the goal. How far away was that announcers box anyway?

There were sounds of victory and Fiona dared to open her eyes again. "Wow. That's great," she called out and then remembered where she was. With her mouth firmly shut again she focused on getting her broom back to the ground. "Mabel you must have done well to get such praise from our fearless captain," were the first words which came out of her mouth the moment she was safely back on the ground, "what a shame I missed seeing your greatness."

Stephanie stopped mid-hum. "Christine," she shouted, "you're supposed to keep a hold of the bat." As for Fane calling Mabel fairy princess, that sounded ridiculous. She was far from it. Her delicate sister on the other hand, who shouldn't even be playing quidditch, that title completely fitted. Though it was possibly a good thing he didn't call Christine that. It was bad enough her younger sister imagined herself some long lost princess.

"MY HEAD IS NOT IN THE CLOUDS," Stephanie shouted. And it hadn't been. She'd been too busy watching her sister who was in danger of being smacked by a bludger. Therefore, it was a complete shock to see Mabel be the one who got injured. And, if she were completely honest, a little bit satisfying. Christine was safe and Mabel had to go down. All Stephanie had to do was catch the snitch.

Then she saw it and Stephanie leaned forward to fly faster. She had to get there before the Montagnard seeker. This time she had to get it. Then all was lost. Montagnard won, not just the match, but the entire season. Stephie pulled up and slowly flew down to the ground feeling absolutely retched.

It was embarrassing to have to get her bat again but first she had to dodge another bludger hit at her by that dark haired Montagnard beater. It did turn out to be rather much easier than she anticipated. Now if only she could hold a bat with as much ease as she flew. Which reminded her, she needed her bat back. There it was on the ground and Christine didn't give any further thought to flying down to retrieve it.

By the time she was back up in the air the beater who caused her to lose her bat in the first place had gone down injured. Christine smiled to herself, pleased at the way justice prevailed. Whilst she, herself remained uninjured, the witch who wished her harm was gone. The fact that she was supposed to bring harm onto the opposing players had not occurred to Christine. She thought she was only supposed to hit the bludger close to them. Not at them.

Christine gripped the bat in one hand and decided twas time she showed why it was she was beater for Cerisier. She flew off after a bludger and hit the bludger with the same result as the previous time. She dropped her bat. The game finished and Christine flew down one last time, picked up her bat and was ready to commiserate with the rest of the team. She was going to have request Stephanie's assistance later to help her with some extra training.

Paige was glad to see that her first hit had sent the bludger right into the thick pack of chasers trying to catch the quaffle first. She was even happier to see that he method had worked and not hit one of her own chasers, she smiled to herself as they took it in for a goal. She continued to keep in a eye out for bludgers that might be headed towards her teammates, she looked up at the announcers box to see who it was calling her a fairy princess, someone else had called her that before but she wasn't sure it was the same person announcing now. She shook her head before ignoring the announcer's and flew towards her captain knocking a bludger away that was headed right towards her. Once it was off towards another player she looked around for the other to be sure it was in a Montagnard effective route.

The blonde looked alarmed when she noticed it was headed for another one of her players, until she saw her fellow beater going after it. The alarmed look returned when she saw that Mabel didn't stop the bludger with her bat and instead with her body. The younger girl flew down to the pitch. Paige had been a beater long enough to know the kind of damage and bludger could cause, she made a mental note to bring the girl some candy after the game. With that she took off after more bludgers, until the whistle was blown and Payton cheered that he had caught the snitch. That meant Montagnard had finally won the cup! It was in the bag nothing could change that they had the cup.

Stark was glad that he was able to assist in the first goals of the match but he knew that was not good enough. Ideally they would make many goals and Cerisier would make few if not none. However that was a lot harder than it sounded, Montagnard continued scoring some goals but Cerisier was not laying down for this and scoring a lot too. As always it would come down to the snitch fr this match, he was sure of it. The small boy flew down to the other side of the pitch watching his fellow chasers passing the quaffle once in awhile among themselves, most of the time though Marie-Laure had it. She was a really good captain, he thought to himself, she was a bit tough and scary at times but that seemed to work for her.

The strawberry blonde was distracted from his thoughts for a moment when he heard his name announced over the speaker, not his last name as was typical in quidditch but his first name. He continued to listen and felt his face grow a bit hot at the announcers words about him. He recognized the voice of course even though he didn't know his friend was an announcer until just now. He shook off the thought and continued to followed the chasers, just in time it looked like when the quaffle was thrown at him and he threw it through the right goal post.

After few more moments of normal game play the whistle was blown. Everyone could hear the seeker yelling that he had caught the snitch, Stark smiled happily seeing the red and purple clad teen with the gold ball. His smile grew even more when he realized that meant they had won the quidditch cup, how about that his first year on the team and they won the cup.

Quentin felt a sweat accumulating upon his brow, despite the chilly weather outside, as he did everything in his power to help Cerisier collect up goals. His mind had little time to focus on anything else going on and gave little orders to his team. He figured they were all good enough to know how to do their job on their own and wanted to focus on outscoring Montagnard. His ears picked up an occasional thing or two uttered by the announcers, but his brain failed to calculate what said. One thing he did understand though was when it was announced that the snitch had been caught.

His blue eyes scanned the field, hoping to see a blue-green clad player with the snitch, but alas it was the opposite. His lips tugged into a frown. This meant Cerisier lost for the season.

"Nice try, guys," Quinn said, to his team as they filed out of the pitch. "We were doing so well..." He cut off as he saw Sylvian look snide at him, telling her team they'd take the last match as well. Quinn's eyes narrowed. "Not a chance," He whispered to himself.

Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round II Empty Re: Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round II

Trent was so disappointed that they had lost. He loved winning so much that losing positively killed him inside. Winning made him fill with pride that he never was able to have with the classes he took at school. But, here he was for the second time in a row with his tail between his legs. Cerisier had been doing so well. It just wasn't truly fair to the team that they had to lose all because of the fact that the snitch had been to elusive this game. He held in a frustrated groan. They would win the last game of the season. They had to.
