A Little Game Called Quidditch Empty A Little Game Called Quidditch

Pushing open the door Katie's face split into a grin as she took in everything to do with Quidditch in front of her. The Quidditch Shop on Amethyst Alley was one of her favourite shops, after the Sugar Shack of course. She loved Quidditch, and even when she was little, her father had shown her how to play on his old broom in their back garden in Kent. Now, even though she lived in Paris, her father took her to some of the games for the Holyhead Harpies, her favourite team. The French really didn't play as much Quidditch, rolling her eyes as she inspected a broom, running her hand along it, they were to 'girly', and her little sister, Maddy, who was born and raised in France, didn't like it.

Letting her eyes look around the shop she noticed some robes in the back of the store, she hurried over to them and smiled as she saw the newest ones for the Holyhead Harpies. But noticing someone standing beside her she smiled.

"You play Quidditch?" She asked to the boy beside her, "I sometimes do, I love the England and Ireland Quidditch League."

Osmund had never played quidditch before. His parents, back when they were together and had an obscene amount of money, had spoiled him with a quality toy broomstick and a miniature quidditch set, but, having no siblings and his parents busy with work, the boy had always played on his own and never really grasped the rules of the game. Nonetheless, the boy was thinking wishfully.

Helena had come across an old friend and pardoned her presence for a moment. In this time, Osmund had entered the shop just to look around. His hands absently traced over the cloth of some of the robes hanging in the back. He wished he had gotten the chance to practice the sport more in his early childhood. A small smile filled his face as he pictured himself playing quidditch with his father. That would've been a lovely father-son bonding time. Maybe his father would find his worth if he had been a child protegy at quidditch.

He hasn't noticed another soul was around until she had spoken up. His eyes a bit dazed, the boy replied, "oh um, no. Not really. Just interested." A small blush filled his cheeks. He must be getting tired. It wasnt like him to daydream or be so gentle to those who stare. "How about you? Hoping for some new robes?"

Raising an eyebrow at the boy, the redhead shook her head and smiled wryly, "I don't really know," Katie said, reaching up and moving through the robes hung up, "I love English Quidditch, but you know that, I just wanted to see if they had any Holyhead Harpies ones."

Staring at the robes she said in surprise, "You don't know Quidditch?" Realising that she may have been a bit blunt Katie backtracked quickly, "I could teach you," She offered, still making her way through the robes, getting tangled up in the green and gold material, "I mean you are going to Beauxbatons right?"

Noticing the red on his cheeks she stepped back from the robes and looked to him, "You okay?" She asked, with a slight frown on her face, "You look a bit red, that's all." Biting her lip and hoping that she wasn't rambling, Katie turned back to the robes. Good way to make a first impression...

Osmund raised an eyebrow. "Is French Quidditch any different?" He hadnt heard of any reason why it would be so. After all, there was the all famous World Cup in which the best teams across the world played against each other. Surely that could only be done if the game was uniformly the same all over. "Oh, the Holyhead harpies? Would this happen to be the uniform?" Osmund hadn't seen a live quidditch match in a handful of years, so he really wouldn't know, but did his best to pluck a correct uniform from the racks. It was a bit of a shot in the dark.

His eyes narrowed as she seemed surprised he wasn't well apt in the sport. It infuriated him for her to think he was daft, even if that wasnt what she intended for her words to mean. However, before he could open his mouth to protest, she was offering to teach him. He paused, eyebrows still furrowed. He didn't know whether to accept or not. Surely the school provided such services, but this would be more like one on one. However, he had already made a fool of himself by being uneducated and then blushing about it, which hadnt gone unnoticed by the girl as she brought it up. "I'm fine," he replied, a but harshly and turned slightly away to let his cheeks settle back to the correct shade. "I guess...extra lessons might be fruitful," he finally answered. If he didn't like them, he could always put an end to them, right? "I'm Osmund Hollow, by the way."

Looking back to the uniform, Katie ran a hand through the pony-tail in her hair, "Yeah, this is the uniform," But taking a second look at it, the young girl sighed, "I'll end up not getting it anyway. Its too much," It would cost to much just to buy it, and then have her younger sister almost destroy it when she played 'dress up'.

"French don't really play Quidditch," She said, with a slight tone of annoyance in her voice, "But I guess its because they are all to posh to play it." She hoped that Beauxbatons would at least have a Quidditch Team, and a pitch, if they didn't then she would just have to fly around at night or something.

Smiling when she heard the boys name she turned, "Hey 'Mund! I can call you that right?" Shaking her head and stopping herself from rambling off again! "I'm Katie, Katie Brooks."

Osmund nodded in understanding. Ever since the divorce, money had been more tight in the family, which made the change all the more difficult for the spoiled boy. Anything that Osmund asked for always had been to carefully studied before Helena would agree to get it and quite frankly, it was a pain to deal with.

He never considered the French to be 'too Posh' for anything, but then again, it would explain why his father opted to live in France rather than his homeland, Scotland. His father was a well-off man who lived in the lap of luxury, which was one of the many reasons why Osmund admired the man so greatly. He was living among people as great as himself and yet here his son was living in some shoddy house among muggles. He blamed Helena for that much, though.

An eyebrow raised at the nickname. He thought it was daft, which was one of the reasons why he hated nicknames. What was the point of them, really? "Okay, 'Atie," Osmund replied, a bit sarcastically. So she wasn't perfect, but at least he had managed not to entirely flip out at her, which was sure a good sign. She had mentioned Beauxbaton, which meant they were to be attending the same school and it was only right to know a few people, right?

Katie threw her head back and laughed at the nickname the boy had given her, "'Atie." She said, letting the name roll off her tongue, "I like it," She smiled, looking over to the other things which just had Quidditch written all over them... Literally.

Spying a quaffle on the shelf above the robes her eyes lit up, reaching up to it, jumping as her fingers scraped the quaffle and she reached up a little higher and pulled it off the shelf. Pushing her hair out of her face, her cheeks turned a little red as she remember that she was standing with someone, "Sorry," she muttered, her blue eyes dancing around, avoiding, she always had to make a fool out of herself.

The quaffle turning over in her hands, she spoke again, but this time more clearly, "You never answered. You are going to Beauxbatons right?

At first Osmund held his serious look as the red-head began to laugh at his response, then a small smile had poked through. He wasn't exactly intent on sticking to calling her 'Atie, but if she insisted on calling him 'Mund, maybe he'd consider it.

It was apparent how devoted the girl was to the game of quidditch as just a mere glimpse of a quaffle made her eyes light up. So she wasn't just an avid quidditch game watcher, she actually had a passion for the sport. Maybe the quidditch lessons with her wouldn't be so bad after all, since she seemed to know what she was to teach.

He was slightly taken aback by her question. "O-of course." He supposed he hadn't been that clear before. "Think there's any hope for me on the quidditch team?" Osmund questioned. He'd never really played the sport before, but being a beater always seemed like fun. It'd give him the chance to relieve some anger, after all.

Raising her eyes when she heard the doubt in his voice, she held the quaffle up, "I bet," Katie said, throwing the red quaffle between her two hands, carefully not dropping it, "I bet, you'd get in. I mean, everybody has a chance, and even if you haven't played it before, or not much, you still had a chance."

Feeling that she may be a bit loud with her Quidditch inspired thoughts, she shook her head, "I like playing Chaser," She said, "I'm definitely not strong enough to be a Beater! Look at me!" She said, holding out her arms, they weren't stick thin, but they didn't have the power, or the strength to hit the Bludgers, "And a Seeker... Well, I find them boring, you spend all game looking for a tiny little golden ball!" Stopping herself from speaking any more about the game, she slapped a hand over her mouth, so she got a little carried away... Hopefully Osmund wouldn't mind that when she got onto Quidditch, well, she got a little carried away...
