The year had only just begun and already gifted students were finding creative ways to show their school pride. When Professor Bowen had initially stepped foot out on the Quidditch pitch that morning, she was half-convinced that she was still sleeping and perhaps sleep walking when she saw the outlines of tall trees and high mountains appear out of the fog, the landmarks encasing the Quidditch pitch on their appropriate side. She had to admit it was an impressive display, but wondered if whoever who was behind it realized the consequences for it for their beloved players. The trees, although out of the way of the Cerisier goal posts, still had branches that hung out into the flying space on the pitch and large rocks from Montagnard's mountains jutted from the ground. It appeared to nearly be a flying hazard for both teams, but if anyone was hoping to continue Quidditch outside of school, they would learn quickly to get used to the most bizarre conditions.

"Good morning teams," Professor Bowen said, as the team filed out of the changing rooms in formation and holding broomsticks. "What a marvelous sight, eh? I want all of you to be extra attentive to your flying today as these landmarks some fan had produced for their adored teams just might be hazardous to anyone not paying attention." She conveyed her worries. However, there was no canceling Quidditch so she was just going to have to trust that everyone would play safely.

"This is the first game of the season and though there are no new additions to the teams this year, I expect all returning players to do even better than the year before. Just play your best today." She moved into formation, holding the quaffle beneath her arm and then blew her whistle as she let it fly high into the air.

Linette was no longer alone in the announcer's box. Caleb was now a fellow announcer. Not for this game but he did do just as he said he would. This first game though she was announcing with a first year. That didn't bother her a bit. First years were impressionable and she had three years to influence him into the best way to announce a game. It was a shame that he was of the rival house. Well she could get around that issue but just being doubly biased and hopefully whoever replaced her after graduation would also be a Cerisier.

"Ready?" she asked Rene with a smile and her hand covering the enchanted microphone. "Just follow my lead and you'll be brilliant." Her hand now removed she leaned into the microphone and began her spiel with a raised voice. "Hello Cerisiers and Montagnards. Welcome to the first match of the year. Today looks like it will be a challenge for all with the trees and mountains out there on the pitch. How will our fearless captains get around those obstacles to lead their teams to victory? No new players this year. No-one graduated. If any of you are seventh years this year you'd better make the most of it."

Charon was out of it. He could feel it. He felt completely unsure of himself. He sucked. He was terrible. No way Cerisier would ever win with him on the team. Louise was smart for rejecting a loser like himself. Why on Earth did he even think she would say yes? His hair was too long, his eyebrows too light, he was too lanky, too horrible to be anybody's boyfriend. Oh merlin...he had to go out there in front of everyone...everyone had to see how terrible of a player he was. How unlikable he was. He hoped Paige drilled him again so he wouldn't have to step foot in front of a crowd this big the rest of the season. Maybe Christian would just kick him off the team. It's not like it's that hard to play keeper. They could find another boy or girl to play. Marie-Laure was going to make him look like a fool today. Charon was the last one out of the dressing room. He hadn't even realized he was shaking. His hands were fidgeting and his legs felt like jello. He didn't have butterflies in his stomach, no, he had pterodactyls. Charon looked out at the landscape in front of him. He had to admit, it was impressive. Whoever did it was very talented. While incredibly dangerous, it looked beautiful, and Charon needed some dangerous right now. He took a deep breath. He'd been working on his entrance for the first game all summer. Holding his broom tightly he jumped straight off the ledge and into the foggy pitch. He waited as he fell. Ten feet, twenty feet, thirty. Then he threw his broom under himself and flew straight to his place in keep. Even if he was embarrassed by Montagnard today at least Louise might catch the snitch.

This was going to be a great year, Payton could feel it in his bones. It was the first game of the season and Payton was excited. After their wins last year, Payton threw a party in celebration. It turned out to be a success and he hoped that he would be able to throw another soon. Payton liked to believe that everyone had a great time and were more determined to win. Plus another win would mean for a happy Osmund and you couldn't go wrong with a happy Osmund.

After leaving the locker room, Payton was set on winning. And hopefully they would. He took one look at the pitch and shook his head. "Its like they want us to get hurt." He knew this was going to be difficult for him to find the snitch and hopefully catch it. "Good luck guys!" Payton mounted his broom and took off once the whistle was blown. Once in the air, Payton grinned. He missed quidditch and his team.

Montagnard had won two of the three games last year, meaning they got the cup and that was super cool. It was so nice to win the cup in her first year, it was almost as if she really had made a difference to the team. That last game was one of the happiest days of her life. Sadly the wins had only come through her knocking her friend to the ground, but that was the game and if he,or anyone for that matter, couldn't take it maybe they were simply in the wrong sport. The most surprising part of all last year was learning how much she enjoyed the sport, before she started it was just something that looked pretty cool, she never expected to get so competitive in the games. She'd always known she had a tough side to her normally small and timid looking self but not to the point of breaking someones ribs in the middle of a game.

This year she promised herself to be just as good as she was last year. She wanted to make everyone on her team proud, and she wanted them all to win again. She watched Osmund during practices to try and learn some techniques, he was so good and she wanted to be just like him one day. She was all the aware that in two to three years the great captain would be graduating and leaving them all alone, when that happened she wanted to be good enough to teach the new beater how to be just as good.

Today when she walked on to the field she felt confident, she had watched and learned new things these first few weeks or so and she felt sure she would play well today. The goal posts were made out of trees and mountains today which was really cool looking but sure to be a problem for the players. Unless you were the beater then they were great tools, she was already thinking about what would happen if she hit a bludger into on of the dangling branches. If it all went to plan she would hit more than one person with it and if not it would still look cool. The game started like always with the teams fighting for the quaffle, surprisingly though no one seemed to score for quiet sometime. At least it took them longer to than usual she was sure of that much, but she wasn't sure how long it truly was before someone scored. She hit a bludger towards one of the Cerisier beaters who noticed it only last minute in time to swerve.

This was her second year on the team and her second year of playing Quidditch. There may have been no opportunities to practice at home with her being a muggleborn and all but she still believed she must have improved. They'd practised and now was the first match of the season. Montagnard would win again. She was sure they would.

Marie-Laure may have been prepared in the change rooms for the coming match but she was not prepared for the sight of the trees and mountains on the pitch. "Sixth or seventh years," she guessed instantly. The magic had to have been tricky and she couldn't picture anyone younger than sixth year being capable of it and the professors not doing something so immature. She glanced up at the stands where the spectators were and tried to find anyone who looked guilty or smug. Unfortunately their faces were too far away for her to be able to discern facial expressions.

She didn't have any more time to worry about the creativity of other students. Marie-Laure had goals to score and neither tree nor mountain was going to hinder her from her goal scoring goal. She caught the quaffle thrown to her by one of her teammates and flew on to the goal posts narrowly missing a tree branch. First goal of the match to Montagnard and Marie-Laure was feeling very smug.

The last shred of Charon's confidence disappeared as he felt the rush of wind from Marie-Laure's goal whiz past him. He shook his head and sighed in frustration. Charon could already hear Christian scream at him. Maybe it was time to quit quidditch. That would be for the best. He wouldn't have to see Louise if that happened. He could just hang out with Cass and Paige, and everyone else could just ignore his existence. Maybe he could go to a muggle school. His mother was a muggle after all. Charon blinked. That was actually a great idea. He'd kept up with his muggle academic studies over the summer, Charon's mother made sure of it. Maybe at muggle school he'd make friends and play soccer. He was always better at soccer than quidditch. Goalie was so much fun. He'd have to write with his mother about that idea. Sure, Charon would feel bad leaving the friends he had, but was that, that important? If he'd be more successful as a muggle, then that's what he should be. Charon nodded to himself as he returned his focus back to the match, a small smile on his lips. Forget being a wizard, Charon could be normal.

René was terrified of announcing in front of people, but also very excited. Thankfully, Linette had been very encouraging to him. He knew even if she was trying to be fair and balanced, she was coming at it from a Cerisier point of view. So he would have to come from the Montagnard point of view. The field was amazing to see with the forests and mountains on it. Whoever had done it was extremely talented. When Marie-Laure scored, he channeled his inner announcer for Barcelona. "Sullivan with the quaffle.....scooooooores! Ten nothing Montagnard!" He cheered and pumped his fist from the booth. "And boy the keeper for Cerisier looks flustered." René added.

The first game of the season, though with teams that were the same as last years, was completely different than any game Osmund had played before. The most outstanding difference being the forest and mountain range that was magically built up in the pitch in support for the teams, which Osmund imagined was going to be causing both of the teams quite some trouble.

"Don't do anything stupid," He yelled to his team before they had dispersed for the game. The last thing he needed was to have some of his players get whacked by a tree branch and be unable to play. But of course he needed to worry about himself in that moment and keep his eyes on his flying route so he wouldn't make the mistakes he expected of his team.

He found the trees to be a great inconvenience to him as his bludgers kept running into the branches, rather than the people. Scowling at his own work, he was just about ready to hex whoever was responsible for the mess they had made of the pitch, if and when he ever figured it out. Nonetheless, Montagnard was doing admirably scoring wise, so he supposed it wasn't all bad. He was just hoping that Johnson knew what he was doing and would be able to catch the snitch with all the distractions going on.

A brand new year of quidditch, with the same team as before. This was both a good thing and a bad thing in Christian's eyes, it was good that he didn't have to reteach anything to some ickles that decided to join but it was a bad thing that there was no new blood because this same team lost two of the three games last year. He made it very clear in all the practices this year that he was not going to stand for anymore losses from the players and that if they didn't get the cup this year there would be hell to pay. He was so strict this year he even threatened to kick an older student off the team after they told him that they weren't going to take a younger student yelling at them, and he needed to calm down. Of course since he needed the player he couldn't kick him off, but if he had any back ups he would have done it without a second thought.

They had practiced many hours and there was nothing more he could do to help the team except maybe try to be positive about a win. However once they reached the pitch and saw the trees and mountains that replaced the usually gold hoops he felt his hopes drop. Some of his members, particularly his keeper of all players, seemed off their game and this was definitely going to hurt some of their spirit more.

The game played on and it was a particularly long time before either team scored no matter how much Christian fought for the quaffle. Just when he thought he could take it in for a win something would knock it loose again. Montagnard finally scored the first point and continued until they were three goals up, and that simply would not do. Christian snatched the quaffle up the next chance he got and raced towards the towering mountains on the other end of the field. Just as he threw the quaffle he  was hit with a bludger straight into his side, he didn't hear a crack but it still hurt like hell and he winced in pain. He saw the ball go through the hoop though and smiled before taking off after it again, only at a slightly slower speed due to the fiery pain that seemed to be consuming the whole of his right side. But his team was simply not going to lose today and the injury was sure to still be there at the end for Mousier Avery to take care of, for now it was all about scoring.

Quentin didn't care what everyone else thought, he thought that the quidditch pitch looked marvelous with it's new makeover. It almost looked as good as the time it was painted entirely blue. He felt like he was in the wilderness flying through the miniature mountain ranges and the high trees. He didn't pay any mind to the downsides of the pitch's new appearances until he experienced them first hand.

The blue haired boy was adamant in getting the quaffle in his grips, but every time he did so, he found the ball being snatched away from his by a tree branch that he had run into or finding that the quaffle ricocheted off of the rocks when he threw it to score. Montagnard was gaining points quickly, but Quentin had yet to score a goal for his own team.

He pulled up next to his cousin and captain briefly to share his woes. "I'm trying! I really am! But this pitch has turned evil and is foiling all my plots!" Quentin said, before ducking his head from a bludger and carrying on. He'd just have to keep trying.

Annaliese was really for this game, she had most of the things that had been bothering her over the summer and she had found out a little something, whilst trying to figure out when she was talking with Osmund about the certain that had happened last year with the kiss and everything. She was excited as she saw the pit had been changed yet again, bit this time it was going to be harder for the seekers to fly with obstacles, but she was always up for a new challenge when it came to Quidditch.

Smiling she took off and was ready for anything. As the game took off, all those extra practices seemed to paying off little by little. She was pretty proud of herself and the chasers this game. They seemed to be keeping the quaffle out of the goal post pretty well and she was glad the Osmund would have nothing to grill her about. It about time that she got a break from the yelling. Maybe their talk had helped her more then she realized. Well, whatever it was...it sure made a difference in how she was playing.

Linette tried to cover up her laugh with a groan at the first score of the match. "Sylvian don't feel too bad about Rene calling you Sullivan. Easy mistake. Could be made by anyone and on that note why not play guess who I mean when I say a name? For starters we have Sniffer hitting bludgers into trees instead of players. Such a shame to see a good beater go from hitting his own teammates to trees." Linette could be faulted for many things but her long memory was not one of them.

"One of the chasers for Montagnard has scored again. Either their keeper has suddenly improved or the Cerisier chasers are beginning to break under the pressure to perform. Another goal to Montagnard. Now they are at thirty to Cerisier's zero. We do still have the same players for both teams don't we? The Angel has scored for Cerisier and finally they have points on the board. Let's hope Smiler helps them to win this time." She look significantly in Louise's direction though it was doubtful the seeker would be able to see her expression.

"D'Devil stop your grumbling. If Montagnard can score four goals you could at least score one couldn't you? That's right everyone Montagnard is now at forty to Cerisier's ten points. I swear this is nothing like it used to be. Sniffer you must have really done a good job at improving your team."

René's cheek went bright pink upon realizing he got the name wrong. "Ah, uh sorry, Sylvian. Marie-Laure SYLVIAN has put Montagnard up." He murmured in embarrassment, and took a deep breath, he made sure he said her name right for every other score. He powered through his mistake getting more and more excited with each score as well as in a much better rhythm. He sighed softly. The energy in the crowd could be felt and it was exciting, it felt much more like it was going to be a win from Montagnard, but you never knew, the Cerisier seeker could've easily grabbed the snitch. He still had a great feeling about the game.

Louise was rather excited about this term. They hadn't won last year, but what was going to stop her from catching the snitch this year? Certainly not Payton. Though, talking with him at the beginning of the year did kinda change her prospective of the whole competitive thing made her feel more open to having friends in the other house as well as her own. Being the excitable person she was she liked people, but they usually only liked her in small doses...whatever that meant.

However, she was still a little bummed about what had happened with her sister over the summer when they had gone back to France. She hadn't meant to aggravate her, it was just that her sister took her kindness the wrong way and shoved it in her face and made her feel like a bad person, which is not was she was....but that's how it was coming off to her. If her sister really didn't want her there that badly...maybe she would take her advice and go back to their moms...and attend another school

Marie-Laure hadn't registered the words of the second announcer until the first said something. She shook her head at it. She wasn't overly bothered by a little mistake. There were more important things at stake here. That was the scoring which was going very well and Marie-Laure managed to add even more points to the board. Those trees and mountains were no real hindrance if you knew how to fly and dodge them.

She was confident and flew with confidence. Too much confidence as she flew into the branches of a tree. "Help! I'm stuck," she called out as she tried to wrench herself free from a branch where which had hold of her uniform. The second year huffed at the way it kept a hold of her whilst she tried to pull the branch away.

The game was going well for Montagnard, they were winning for the time being. But with all the tree branches in the way, it was hard to find the snitch in the mess. Payton was having a hard time avoiding trees, they just seemed to be reasching for him and wanting to keep him in place. But Payton wasn't going to get caught in the branches, he was too determined. Montagnard was doing a great job and Payton wanted to win. He wanted to catch the snitch. After tasting victory last year, Payton had become more competitive about the sport.

Once Marie-Laure called out for help, Payton was on it. He couldn't just leave her there and have her be stuck. He helped the poor girl out of the branches and then went back to looking for the snitch. While he was helping her, Cerisier had scored

With the foliage ruining his chances of success with hitting blusters, osmund was a bit miffed, to say in the least. It didn't help that the simple blunder of the new announcer sparked mirth in the all familiar talkative announcer, Linette. She was playing a game, now, calling all of the players by different names. It didn't take long for him to discover which one was him. 'Sniffer,' the beater who hits his own players and trees and where did that nickname come from? "I don't sniff books," Osmund growled beneath his breath, knowing that even if he yelled, she wouldn't hear, nor be phased by his yelling.

He tried to brush it off and slammed another blugder towards a blue and green player, this time hitting them instead of a tree. He scoffed as now he finally got it right. It wasn't his fault every bludger wasn't a perfect hit. He didn't see why anyone expected that. Nonetheless, there wasnt much to complain about, seeing as they were having an amazing lead on Cerisier. All they needed was the snitch. His eyes then landed on Payton.

"Oi, Johnson! You have a snitch to be catching! Not a chaser!" He called towards the ensnared Sylvian and the seeker that was helping her free. Johnson had more important things to be doing than that.

Quentin was horribly off of his game and he didn't need Linette to tell him that, or at least, he assumed that's who she meant, when she referred to someone called D'Devil. Christian was obviously the Angel and he was the devil. Why did the announcer decide it to be like that, he really wasn't sure, but he was more concerned with his lack of goals.

He snatched back the quaffle and tried to score again, finding the quaffle to once again not make it into the goal post. He wasted little to no time retrieving the ball from one of the red and purple chasers and sent it through, this time hearing the goal posts ring out. "Ha! That's much better!" He'd like to see that meanie Linette call him a devil after he had made that sort of contribution to the team that he knew she loved.

However, his single goal meant nothing in the long run as the game ended then. He was sad to see that it wasn't his own team that had caught the snitch. He frowned as he felt he was only getting started on making goals and then all suddenly it was over and they had lost. He knew Christian wouldn't be pleased, but couldn't seem to make himself turn to look at his cousin. He kept his eyes on the ground.

The pitch probably looked really cool to anyone watching the game but it sure wasn't much fun for the players, Paige could vouch for that first hand. Her bludgers would hit the branches or the knock off chunks of rock instead of hitting actual players. She noticed the captain of the other team get hit with a bludger in his side and it looked like it hurt, but she wasn't sure if that was one she hit or if it was Osmund. Whoever it was it was nice to see the captain flying around a bit slower than before, though it did kind of suck that he was still able to score with the injury. However they were much farther ahead so it didn't matter much either way, and the game ended pretty soon after anyways.

When she looked up to see Payton with the snitch in hand she smiled cheerfully. She happily flew back down to the pitch to celebrate with her team and hoped that this would be a common trend for them this year again.

Louise was pretty bummed after she saw that Payton had caught the snitch. "Great..." She muttered to herself, not only was she going to get harassed by Christian, it was another thing for Linette to hold against her, because she seriously deserved the 'Worst Sister Award.' Sighing she sulked off the the pitch and into the locker room. She had enough on her plate as it was with family and school and then her best friend had asked her out and she hadn't been ready, since then there friendship had been very awkward and it was just too much to take. Banging her hands against her head she let out a loud scream. "I hate this! I hate loosing!! I hate this stupid game!" She rampaged kicking the lockers hard.

His side was searing, it felt as if there was a small flame that was slowly consuming the whole of his side. He wanted nothing more than to scream in frustration and pain, despite all that he never once thought about giving up. He was sure that if he left the field now and seeked for healer help no one would fault him, but he would never forgive himself and he would never be able to accept their loss. The teen was always the first to tell his team to give it there all and he expected even more from himself as he did them. Quinn finally scored the second goal, though Christian did help get it down to that side of the field.

The whistle blew to show the end of the game and the captain looked up frantically looking around the post for the seeker with the snitch, and cursed rather loudly when he saw that damn Johnson twin with it. He immediately flew to the ground and threw his broom on the grass before slowly walking off the field. He would have walked faster if his injury would let him, he hoped it looked like his marching off the field without his broom was because of his seriously bruised ribs. It was really just because he was immensely angry with everyone, including himself, and he knew how much everyone hated him yelling so you wasn't going to yell.  Monsieur Avery was waiting in the captains room of the changing room when he got there and he let the man do his job, gritting his teeth to deal with the pain, and anger.

Cerisier vs. Montagnard; round I Empty Re: Cerisier vs. Montagnard; round I

Annaliese's smiled broadened as the snitch was finally caught. "Yes!" She exclaimed excitedly. She had actually done a really good job this game. Only two goals made by Cersier? That had to be a record or something. She knew she could do better, but only if she tried just a little harder. She had faith in herself that she could do it and was prepared to make it happen no matter what the cost, even if she had to knock another seeker out of the sky.

Chuckling to herself and turned towards Payton and gave him a thumbs up. The kid really deserve a pat on the back. He'd help them win the game on multiple occasions. He had to, because he was the seeker, but he seemed to be a lot better witch the other girl on the field. She looked pretty run-down and out of it. it reminded her a lot of herself how she'd been at practice with Oz drilling her non-stop and she couldn't get her mind off a certain thing. She almost felt a small pity for the girl, but if Montagnard won over whatever was bothering the girl to cause her to be distracted, was fine by Anna.

"And it looks like one of Montagnard's chasers has managed to get herself caught in the branches of a tree. it was bound to happen sooner or later. Never fear Silver Jolly is coming to the rescue. Mind you I don't think Sniffer is all that happy about his seeker flying off the help one of the chasers. Meanwhile the scores are now fifty to Twenty. My, my Cerisier. You lot had better beware the wrath of the avenging Angel if you keep failing to score. Or maybe Winnie needs to learn some keeping skills from Lessy who appears to have managed to stay awake this year."

Linette had to take a breath after that monologue. Poor Rene had barely said a word and the fifth year was a little concerned that maybe it was because she was talking too much. She gave him a chance to say a few words before plunging back into her commentary. "Seventy to twenty and ... no make that two hundred and twenty to twenty. Smiler has failed to catch the snitch as Montagnard shows it is still a force to be reckoned with again this year. Angel do what you will with your team." She sat back as she switched off the microphone before directing her next words to Rene. "And that's how you announce. Think you can do without me if I'm not on next match?"
