Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round III Empty Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round III

Post by Professor Bowen Mon Jun 23, 2014 11:49 am

It was the final game of the season and the weather couldn't have been more horrible. The wind was harsh and the sky was crying. It wasn't the best weather to perform in, but she was sure the teams would still do their best. Since Montagnard won the last two games they won the house cup. She watched as both teams entered the field. She dodnt mind the rain too much but the players were a whole different story. "Don't let the rain or wind get to you," she called, some rain water getting in her mouth as she spoke. "Do your best."

"Shake hands," she told the captaims. After they did, she blew her whistle and released the quidditch balls. She hopped on her broom and shot up so she'd get a good look at the game.

This was it. The game Fiona had been waiting for. The final time she would ever have to play Quidditch. Never, ever again would she do something so stupid as play quidditch just to get at Mabel. She grinned at her sister, not letting the horrible weather get to her. "Hey Mabel," she called out over the sound of the wind, "since we've already won the cup does this mean I don't have to try so hard." It really was silly to play another game when it was obvious who the winners were for the year but here they were and she didn't see the point in trying if the results had already been decided.

The blow of the whistle brought the seventh year's attention back on the game and she deliberately took her time to get up in the year. First making a show of getting her uniform caught on her broom. (Completely falsified move), then ten deep breaths before taking a running leap and slipping on the muddy ground. Finally a muddy Fiona was up in the air long after the quaffle had been released.

"I cannot play in these conditions," Christine complained. "It will ruin my hair and my uniform." She wrinkled her nose at the weather outside the changerooms but knew she would be stepping out in that awful weather anyway. It'd been horrible coming down from the palace but at least she had a cloak to protect herself from the worst of the elements. Up in the air she would be unprotected.

A sulky Christine was soon enough following the rest of her team down to the pitch and feeling more and more bedraggled as Professor gave her normal pre-game talk. Why did they have to play when Montagnard had yet again beaten them for the cup? It didn't make sense to the slight thirteen year old. However, she didn't have time to think about it as the whistle blew and she had to be up in the air.

Mabel didn't care how the weather was, she was still going to try her best. She needed her team to perform their perform their best. "You better do your best," she said to her her sister. "I don't care that this is the last game and we've already won the cup, everyone is still going to try." The weather wasn't getting in the weather of anything. "Let's win this," she called fo her team

Once the whistle was blown, the sixth year kicked of the ground carefully. The last thing she needed was to fall in the mud. The first bludger she saw she hit straight towards a blue and green player.

Trent did not have perfect eye sight. In fact he was far from 20/20 vision, but he hated wearing goggles and contacts for games. Reason would suggest Trent would wear goggles for the last match of the season in the downpour that was consuming the players and fans. However, Trent did not have good bearings on reason and ditched his goggles in his locker. He wondered if Stephanie would chew him out about it after the game, but he didn't want the distraction.

Cerisier had already lost the cup again. It frustrated Trent to no end. He didn't directly blame Stephanie, but it was kind of infuriating she hadn't been consistent on snitch catching for a while now. Regardless, he did respect his captain and when the whistle blew he tore after the quaffle and brought it straight through the bottom left goal post.

However, Trent's day was going to go from bad to worse. As the conditions worsened his vision became pretty useless. He didn't even notice the wall of black ball hurtling at him until he heard the whistle of the air around it and the strong sound of bone breaking under force. Trent let out a yelp of pain, but continued to hover in the air for a few seconds so he could get his bearings back. Blinking he saw a ball of red and just swung at it with his non-injured arm. He had no idea where the quaffle went. He just hoped that Cerisier had regained possession.

Swearing up and down, Trent made his way down to the Earth. He was pissed. He hated being sidelined, but right now he needed to go to the infirmary. His arm had swollen up like a balloon and he hadn't even noticed that he'd let a few pain spurred tears mix with the rain on his face. Going into the locker room Trent sighed as he got instant care from the school nurse before being sent on his way to the infirmary where he could almost guarantee his girlfriend would be waiting. Fucking Christ this sucked.

Stephanie stared at her sister in shocked surprise. This wasn't the first time they'd played in such conditions but it was the first time she'd ever heard her prissy younger sister complain about them. "Christine," she ordered, "pull your head and shut up. You're playing and you're going to play well. Everyone else do your best and if anyone yells at me to catch the snitch will ..." She searched her mind for a suitable punishment, "....next year will not be pleasant for that person." Though what that will entail she did not know. There was a whole summer in which she could figure it out.

The rain was bad and Stephanie thought it was worse than it'd been when they'd had to walk down to the changeroom from the palace. She couldn't let that distract her. Cerisier had lost again but Stephanie wanted to change that. She had to catch that snitch. But the rain...it was going to be almost impossible to see it in.

"CHRISTINE," she shouted when Trent got hit by a bludger, "WHERE WERE YOU?" There were two beaters on the team but in Stephanie's bias against her sister she was sure Christine was the only liability in the beater team.

Philip was excited for this last match. Montagnard had already won the cup and seeing as it was his first year playing he thought that was pretty cool. He knew Mabel was expecting them to keep up their A-game and do well during this match too. Of course, this was before he realized it was monsooning during the game. Well this was going to be an experience all on it’s own.

The teams kicked off the ground and the game began. Philip squinted through the rain and got a hold of the quaffle went straight for the Cerisier posts. He scored and flew back for the defense, he winced slightly watching one of the Cerisier chasers get hit by a bludger. Bludgers were not fun to be hit with, especially if Mabel was sending them at you. Philip got a hold of the quaffle once again and sent it towards another teammate to score.

Fane didn't realize just how much he hated rain until he found himself drenched in it. The game had barely started yet and already the seventh year felt his hair plastered to his forehead. He tried to wipe it aside, but he only felt gross in the heavy rain and humidity. This was one thing he was not going to miss about school.

"So I guess Montagnard is still carrying that winning streak and will be taking home the cup today regardless of the results," Fane started, pulling up his hood above his head, which helped none in the downpour but at least it made him feel like he was doing something.

"Oh! Hard luck for Cerisier as they lose a player to a bludger! Walk it off, buddy!" Fane called out, noticing that Cerisier's captain was definitely pissed off with this new development. However, as he watched Trent descend, it became clear that this was not an injury he was going to quickly recover from in time to return to the game. "looks like Cerisier is down one player and Montagnard is still in the lead."

As everyone else on her team, Milan was disappointed with the outcome of the last two matches. That didn't mean she was any less determined to win this one. The weather was even worse than last time, she'd already lost possession of the Quaffle and was dripping wet. As she was trying to catch the Quaffle she saw Trent getting hit by a Bludger and forcing to be treated. "No!" she snapped out loud, losing her concentration and almost being hit by a Bludger herself. Now it was just her and the other Chaser, who frankly was a little lacking. It was times like this when she wished she was a Beater so she could hit something hard with her frustration. If she kept getting out of focus like this she was sure to be reprimanded. She would really have to compensate, with Cerisier trailing Montagnard and Trent out.

She lurched her broom up and caught the Quaffle at its peak, making a consistent descent to the goalposts. Maybe it would be better to throw it to the other Chaser, but she didn't trust them to be able to make the throw so she flung it towards the goal in a long-range shot. It was nearly intercepted but she regained possession of it quickly and gave the Quaffle a nice short toss into the goal.

Christine felt bad enough when Trent was hit by the bludger. Did Stephanie have to single her out on top of that. There were two beaters but which one did she shout at? Her sister of course. That was as bad as favouritism. "I WAS HITTING ANOTHER BLUDGER," she yelled back. Not very well but that was the fault of the rain. Why couldn't she shout at the chasers and the keeper instead. They were the reason why Cerisier was behind Montagnard in points.

Thinking of that she flew off after another bludger and hit it with her bat. It was sluggish but Christine had managed at least to make it move toward one of the Montagnard players.

Fiona ignored Mabel. She was doing her own thing. Right now that was half hanging off her broom thanks to the wetness of it. "SOMEONE HELP!" She called out. "I CAN'T GET UP." She tried again to right herself and then lay against the stick clinging to it with dear life. Then the quaffle bounced off her head and into the goals scoring another ten points for Montagnard.

"Hey," Fiona complained, "why does that thing have to keep hitting me in the head." She gasped and ducked again as a different type of ball came at her. "I TAKE IT ALL BACK. THERE ARE WORSE BALLS OUT THERE YOU COULD BE HIT WITH." She whimpered, "why do they let students play games like this?"

Milan saw a Bludger whiz her way and burst her broom forward to dodge it. Unfortunately, she ended up colliding into the other Cerisier Chaser. "OW," she groaned, clutching her head as she tried to get a hold of herself and find the Quaffle. She was sure Stephanie would yell at her, especially if she just stayed there. Fortunately it had only been a light head bump so she tried to ignore her forehead. Her spirits were falling, her last few shots had been blocked.
When she caught the Quaffle this time though, she weaved in and out of the players, urged on by the pain in her head that probably blocked all things not related to the game. She practically collided again but made a narrow turn with her broom. As she approached the goal she kicked off with high speed, plummeting her path and tossing the Quaffle neatly into the goal.

"CAREFUL," Stephanie called out to the two remaining chasers on the team. They couldn't afford to lose any more chasers. Her hands slipped from her broom and she made a futile attempt to dry them on her wet robes. Then she saw it. There wasn't another second to lose. She did not want Cerisier to lose yet again. Cup already lost or not at least she could finally redeem the team if she caught it.

The captain could see the Montagnard seeker out of the corner of her eye. She had to get it first. Prove to everyone, including herself, that her first year on the team where she always caught the snitch was no fluke. The moment she felt something small and solid in her hand she knew she'd finally done it. Montagnard's winning streak was at an end and all she could hope for was that it was the beginning of a winning streak for Cerisier. Next year they would win that cup.

"In a shocking turn of events Cerisier has actually won a match. Henrau makes a nice play to wrap up the snitch and that will end things here. Montagnard still gets to take home the trophy again, but Cerisier wins a nice moral victory in this one, especially with an injured player and some less than ideal conditions for sure. This is my last game as a Beauxbatons announcer and I just wanted to thank the players and Professor Bowen for the opportunity to announce these matches. They have been some of the absolute best times of my life and I look forward to the future quite excitedly."
