The Magic Stick Empty The Magic Stick

A wizard's wand was their most prized possession and it was the most important thing they will ever own. Without their wand a wizard was just like a muggle unless they could use wandless magic which she had heard was nearly impossible to learn. Ever since getting her letter a few weeks ago this was what Paige was looking forward to getting the most. Even before then, since she was able to understand what magic was she has wanted her own wand. They were special things cause it wasn't just something people went about buying willy nilly and they were all different in their own ways. Also a wizard didn't just go out and pick out a wand to buy the wand had to choose the wizard. In a way it was as if you truly belonged because it told you that you were special just like the wand. No one you meet is ever going to have the same exact one as you either it was all your own. After leaving the pub Paige had headed straight for the wand shop running inside excitedly.

After waiting for a few moments for the shopkeeper to finish finding a wand for a little boy and his mother, Paige walked up to the counter,. The woman examined her for a moment before heading off into the shelves. She waited patiently, when the woman finally returned she handed her a slender white wand and told her to give it a wave. Paige flicked the wand at wand box nearby and it instantly came flying towards her face. She ducked without thinking to avoid the quickly approaching box, however she heard someone behind her say something response to being hit with it instead. The young girl instantly swirled around to apologize. "Oh my merlin I'm so sorry, are you okay?"

After leaving the pub, Adela and her parents headed out into the alley to get her supplies for school. When she walked out, she looked around at all of the cool little shops. There were shops for potions, shops for brooms, shops for robes, shops for anything and everything magical. Her eye was immediately drawn to the wand shop though. Out of everything she had to shop for, a wand was what Adela was most looking forward to getting. When she got her wand she would be able to start practicing magic! She ran straight to the shop, leaving behind her parents who were to busy gawking at everything in the alley to even notice that she had left.

Adela ran into the shop, almost running over a girl standing at the counter with a wand in her hand. She stood behind the girl and waited to talk to the woman behind the counter. She was looking at everything in the shop in amazement when out of nowhere a box came flying at her head. "Ow, what was that!?" she said in confusion.

Paige knew how uncommon it was for the first wand to be the right one but she had kind of hoped that she would be able to find her's right off. She quickly learned that that wasn't going to happen when the wand box she had waved her wand at came flying at her head. Maybe if she had thought ahead she could have caught the box instead of stupidly ducking and letting the person behind her worry about it. Of course the person behind her would have absolutely no time to notice the box coming at them to duck so they would have no choice but to be hit by the box. This only went to prove everyone right that she was still just a silly child that never thought about anything and just acted on instinct like every other child.

As soon as she realized this it was way late and the poor girl behind her had already faced the box, literally. Paige threw the wand back onto the desk not wanting to cause anymore trouble with it before whirling around to apologize. "Merlin, I'm so sorry. That was a wand box that I accidentally sent flying this way. I'm so sorry, I promise I didn't mean to I just waved the wand to see if it was the right one for me. Obviously it's not, merlin I'm sorry, are you okay. I can give you some candy if you'd like, that usually makes me feel better." She said in a long ramble feeling so bad that she had caused someone else pain, perhaps she wasn't cut out to be a witch.

Adela looked down at the small box on the floor that had just come out of no where, hitting her head. She then looked up at the girl standing in front of her, who was freaking out. The girl looked as though she had just committed the worst crime in the world when all she had done was accidentally thrown a small box. It didn't even hurt that much. It just shocked her, that was all. Seeing that the girl was still panicking, Adela felt the need to reassure her that everything was alright.

"It's okay, I'm fine, really. It wasn't your fault, you didn't realize that anyone was behind you. It was just a small box, it didn't even hurt." Adela was making her best effort to calm the poor girl down. "Please don't feel bad. I know you didn't mean to throw it." Adela decided to try to get the girl's mind off of the accident. "My name's Adela and I'm a new student here. You look like you are a new student too. What's your name?"

Paige swiftly picked the wand box up from the floor and handed it back to the shopkeeper. She took it back and put the wand away to run off for another. While she as away Paige continued to apologize to the other girl for hitting her with that box. The young girl told her that it was okay and that it was really no big deal, because it hadn't even hurt her. Somehow she felt like this girl was just saying that to avoid conflict which only made her feel worse about the whole thing. Paige reached into her bag and fished out her last piece of her candy, a chocolate frog. She offered it to the girl in apology. "They say chocolate makes people feel better," She told her with a small smile.

The shopkeeper came back then with another wand, this time Paige waved it at the wall and thought about flowers growing there. She watched as the flowers blossomed from the wood, and smiled. The shopkeeper told her the wand had chosen her but she didn't need to be told that, the minute she had picked the wand up she knew it was the one for her. She turned back the the girl then, "Sorry bout that, didn't wanna make the shopkeep mad because I made her wait. I am also going to Beuxbatons yes. My name is Paige, Paige Bellersose. It's nice to meet you." She said with a smile.

"It's nice to meet you Paige," Adela said kindly. Her attempt at getting the girl to calm down didn't seem to work very well. Paige still seemed pretty flustered. She had even offered her some candy. The poor girl must have really felt bad about the incident. "I'm fine, I promise," Adela said with a smile. "You don't have to feel bad. Please, keep your chocolate. I would feel bad if I took it from you. Besides, you seem to need to feel better more than I do." She gently took Paige's hand and folded it over the candy.

Adela looked at the shopkeeper who was motioning for her to step up to the counter. The woman handed her a wand and told her to give it a wave. Adela did, and a few wand boxes flew from their shelves and went crashing to the floor. The shopkeeper took the wand back and went to clean up the others. Adela returned her attention back to Paige. "How about we just forget the whole incident ever happened?" she asked sweetly.

Paige felt bad about what she had done to the girl but it seemed like she really wasn't that bothered with it much at all. She decided that if Adela wasn't bothered by the incident than she shouldn't be either so she simply smiled and took the chocolate frog back. "Thanks, I'm glad you're okay." She told her with a soft smile before opening the chocolate. While Adela was trying out some wands she started to nibble on the frog that stopped moving after her first bite. She giggled a bit when the boxes went flying to the floor at the girl's try. "It's not as easy as it looks is it?" She asked.

The girl offered that they just forget about the whole incident all together. "That sounds like a good idea. As long as you aren't just saying that so that later in school you can hit me with something in class as pay back." Paige teased the girl. She was sure there were going to be plenty of things to throw at her if Adela so wished to.

Adela was happy that Paige finally stopped feeling bad about the accident, it was just an accident after all. Adela would have felt bad herself if she would have taken the poor girl's chocolate from her. "I'm just glad you're not so upset anymore." She smiled sweetly. The shopkeeper finished cleaning up the mess of boxes and wands and went to go get another wand for Adela to try. "After the mess I just made, I don't blame for flinging that box at my head at all," she said teasingly. "It's very understandable that you couldn't control it."

Adela laughed at Paige's joke about getting payback, at least, she hoped Paige wasn't being serious. She wanted to make a joke about not playing to get even, but playing to win, but decided that would be a bad idea since the girl might take her seriously. "Nah, I wouldn't do that," Adela said just to be safe. At this point the shopkeeper returned with another wand and told her to give it a try. Adela held up the wand, and put her other arm over her head as to shield it from anything that might fly out at her. She decide to be more gentle this time, and gave the wand a flick. This time was less disastrous, but still not good. A stack of papers on the counter flung up into the air and landed all around on the floor. Adela let out a sigh and began picking up the papers that had landed on her side of the counter. What if she never found the right wand for her? What if she wasn't cut out to be a wizard?
