Round III: Cerisier vs Feu Empty Round III: Cerisier vs Feu

Post by Professor Bowen Thu Aug 28, 2014 2:33 pm

The week had been one filled with light showers, which left Professor Bowen hopeful for gentle weather for the final match of the year. However, as luck would have it, the day of the match came and rather than the steady drizzle that earlier days had seen, the sky was releasing buckets of water, drenching anyone exposed within minutes. This included herself and all of the quidditch team. She noticed the stands numbers were dwindling in comparison to earlier games. Those who had shown up were decked in raincoats and swampers, hiding beneath umbrellas. At least the audience would remain dry, but Bowen worried about the teams. She knew they experienced a number of different weather conditions, but this was the type of weather to catch a cold in. Nonetheless, the game was to carry on regardless. After all, this was the game to determine who won the quidditch cup for that year.

Already she could hear complaints from the players, which Bowen shook her head to. "Now, now, it's just a little rain. You've all been through worse," Bowen uttered, before taking her position on the field. "The faster the game goes, the sooner you'll be able to dry off inside the school." Bowen added, as an afterthought before releasing the quaffle and initiating the game.

Announcers for this game are Indigo Young and Guenevere Ainsworth. This game ends the day of registration.

Round III: Cerisier vs Feu Empty Re: Round III: Cerisier vs Feu

Post by Lucie Banken Thu Aug 28, 2014 4:37 pm

Lucie could feel the bubbles in her tummy. Bubbles of nervousness and excitement. She also couldn't help smiling at her team within the change room. "We're here in the finals and I'm sure all of you will do great no matter how much it's raining out there. Right?"

Of course they would. Lucie may have only ever played one proper game of Quidditch in her life but she'd run her team through a number of practices using techniques she'd gleaned from the quidditch books she'd borrowed from the library. Her schoolwork had suffered a little because of this new obsession but she really wanted to show the school that a first year could do a good job as a captain in a sport they'd never played before.

She clapped her hands. "Okay. Let's go and play in the rain." She picked up her broom and stepped out into the downpour. Even before she'd reached the pitch she was drenched with water.

Now that the keeper faced the Cerisier captain she was nervous. He would have had more experience in these type of conditions. A lot more experience. Then there was no more time to think about it as it was time to be up in the air and protect those goal hoops from the Cerisier chasers. More people with more experience than herself.

Round III: Cerisier vs Feu Empty Re: Round III: Cerisier vs Feu

Even though it was raining quite a bit, the quidditch game had not been cancelled. She was sure that everyone wanted it to be cancelled, including herself. She felt bad for the players, they had to be there. The students in the audience didn't have to be, but they chose to be. She had to give them props for being faithful to their teams. Again, her own house wasn't playing so she was pretty neutral in the matter of who won. The only reason she wanted Cerisier to win during the first round was because they were in the lead during the whole game.

It was up in the air for this game, it all came down to who won this to know who won the cup this year. She had overheard some students, during lunch, talking about placing bets on the game. She had not been apart of that since she had no clue who she wanted to win. "Welcome to the final game of the season," she said into the microphone. She, along with several other students, wanted the game to go by quickly. "Feu versus Cerisier, anyone could win."

Ryan was determined to win, he wanted to catch that snitch and win. But it looked like the rain was going to get in the way of his performance. There was no way he could be in his top shape when it was pouring down rain. He could fall and get hurt, anyone could slip and fall. In his mind, the game should have got cancelled. But yet there he was, getting ready to start the game. Bowen went over the rules for the millionth time and made the captains shake hands. It was the same for every game, couldn't they change it up for once?

Finally, the whistle was blown and the fifth year kicked off the ground. He held onto his broom tightly so he wouldn't fall off when going up. He usually only thought about himself but he did feel a bit sorry for the people that were out in the stands and the players that had to play in this horrible weather.

Milan scowled, everyone including Professor Bowen knew it was more than "a little rain". She was right, though, that they had been through worse. Milan still remembered the howling, snowy blizzard in the last year. Still, she couldn't help feeling slightly annoyed at Professor Bowen for acting so casual about it. She put on a brave smile as she glanced at the pouring buckets of rain above. She smiled at her teammates and the other team, the first year captain was full of determination which Milan was positively determined to rival. She kicked off the wet ground, soaring into the air, the rain pouring onto her face. She urged her broom forward, grabbing the Quaffle. She blinked in the rain, gripping her broom, which thankfully had a water repellent charm on it. Immediately the other Chasers closed in on her. Scanning the area, she tossed it to a fellow Chaser who was open. It was intercepted, and the game moved towards the Cerisier goalposts. The rain was already worsening-she thought she might've heard some thunder-still she focused on the Quaffle which was slowly exchanging hands.

Milan and the other Cerisiers were on their guard, steadily blocking the goal. The Feu Chasers were tossing it amongst themselves in a boring triangle. Finally Milan lunged forward to intercept it and turned her broom sharply to the other end of the field. Her hood had slipped, leaving her hair exposed to the pouring rain, but she didn't care and didn't stop. She kicked her foot in the air, urging the broom faster, the others were still pretty far behind. She only slowed down as she approached the lower goal post. Predicting the rain would arch the toss downward, she aimed above the upper ring. The Quaffle sunk in easily. Score. She grinned and turned, the other Chasers were just joining her now, too late.

"My hair," Christine moaned softly. She could feel the sodden braid down her back become bedraggled the moment she stepped out into the rain. Heavy rain and Professor Bowen appeared to consider it just a small shower. She refused to believe there was worse than driving rain. She'd been playing for five years and it was the rain she hated the most. It was the worst. Her bat was slippery. Her broom was slippery. The rain made visibility difficult. And her hair was at its worst.

She knew there was no point in arguing the point. Her own sister hadn't ever shown any more sympathy than Professor Bowen did now. And she didn't expect her current captain to be any different. She would play but she would not guarantee she would play as well as she did in the last game.

Bo didn't mind the rain so much after having to fly in the cold during his previous game. At least he wouldn't be blinded by the white snow, though he made sure to wear goggles to keep the water out of his eyes while he was seeking. He might've caught the snitch last game, but he had a feeling it was just a strike of luck. Though Cerisier's seeker was new to the team as well, he was a lot older than Bo was and probably had been playing Quidditch on his own longer than he had. Bo knew he'd have to work hard if he wanted to catch the snitch this time as well.

His hair was plastered to his forehead after being outside on the pitch for mere moments. He took to the sky and was already feeling the large drops of water hit him as he flew. This was not a pleasant feeling at all, but he had a job to do. If he caught the snitch, the game would end. So the sooner he had that small ball of gold in his hands, the sooner they could all go back inside.

He tried to stay out of the way of the cerisier seeker while patrolling the pitch for the snitch. It seemed to him like he was not the only one displeased with the weather as the other players seemed uncomfortable, but the end of the match seemed no where near as all glances of a small winged ball escaped him.

Lucie was not doing well in her position as keeper. So far she'd manage to save a total of zero goals and she didn't see herself doing any better throughout this match. The only thing she could see which might be going well were the chasers at least getting in some goals. And maybe Bo catching the snitch.

Through the rain, shee could vaguely see the quaffle coming toward her goals again. Lucie braced herself for it and moved to where she thought the quaffle might go. The ding from the other side of her proved her failure to guess correctly and Lucie rubbed at her face in frustration. Any confidence she had before the match was rapidly dissolving in the continuous water falling from the sky.

Cerisier was in the lead but it all came down to who caught the snitch and Ryan was determined for that to be him. The rain was going to get in the way of things and if he failed to catch the snitch then he'd blame the rain because it was a big distraction after all. He wanted to go inside and warm up but there was no way he could do that when the game wasn't even over yet. He ran his hand through his wet hair in hopes to get it out of his face but it went right back to where it had been. He pushed his hair aside so it wasn't in his eyes.

Feu then scored another goal, but still was losing. He looked around for the other seeker and when he spotted him, he smirked. There was no way he was going to lose to a first year.

Guenevere had been doing a bad job at announcing once again. Her mind was just elsewhere during the games and the weather from the past two games was horrible for her concentration. She bounced her knee under the table anxiously. She was also worrying for Trent, hoping that they’d win the cup this year. He’d be so excited if they did. “Wow! Cerisier and Feu are neck and neck right now! Scoring has slowed down quite a bit and now it seems to be up to the seekers!” Guen added cheerily into the microphone. She leaned back in her seat and cheered loudly for her boyfriend.

The rain was starting to get to him, Beauregard swore. Every time the wind blew, he was hit with bullets of rain against his face. He was thankful for his goggles, which allowed him to keep his eyes open in such weather. He had seen the snitch a few moments ago and had pursued it until a chaser had gotten in his path and he lost sight of it. Within the moment of dodging the chaser player, the snitch had seemingly disappeared. He was on his guard, though. He knew the odds were not in his favor, but Bo enjoyed being a part of the Quidditch team and would be glad if his team could take home the cup. Both teams were even with scoring at the moment, so really it was between him and the other seeker to determine the score, lest the game drawled on longer.

Eventually, he caught sight of the snitch again and this time wasted no time in chasing after it. He was soaked to his undergarments and desired a victory and an end to the game with a thirst unlike any other. He was so focused. This time he would catch the snitch and wouldn't fall off his broom, despite how slippery it's hilt had become from the rain. He was inching closer, his arm extended to grab hold of the elusive little ball. He felt his heart stop as he lunged forward, it only picking up it's pace again once he discovered within his palm was the snitch. He smiled as he held it up. He couldn't believe he had done it for the second time! For once he was believing he was good at something besides just falling. He couldn't wait to see Riley to celebrate the victory.

Christine was not having a good time of it this match. She kept thinking she would drop her bat or slip off her broom. Her braid was falling apart. Nothing was going right for her. Now her goggles were fogging up and she could see even less than she could when she first stepped out into the rain. She was ever so tempted to yell at Ryan and tell him to hurry up.

Then came the moment when the snitch was caught and at first Christine wasn't at all sure who was the catcher. Then she realised. It wasn't Cerisier. Yet again her team was not going to win the cup. This time they were beaten by a team with a first year captain and a first year seeker. It went to show that Ryan Green was all boast and no action. Right now though Christine had no wish to rub it in his face. They'd lost and she needed a hot shower. That's all that mattered to her.

It didn't matter to Indigo who won, as long as she was inside soon she didn't quite care. Her house wasn't playing so she didn't really care about the outcome. All she knew was that Cerisier had managed to stay ahead until Feu finally caught up and caught the snitch. She was just glad the game was over so everyone could go inside and get warm. "Looks like Cerisier loses again," she said in her soft voice. It had been a while since Cerisier had won the house cup, it was usually Montagnard. But this time Montagnard didn't get past round one. Too bad, she wanted to see her team perform.

"Feu wins the house cup this year. But I bet Cerisier is going to train to try to beat them and any other competitors." Maybe it was just a curse that Cerisier couldn't win ever.
