Good Time

After spending a week of summer with Malachi, he could say that the boy was his frie d. Now he had two friends. He hadn't seen the other in a while so he planned to have a bit of time with the other. He had kind of missed the girl over the summer so it was only natural for him to invite her to sit with him at breakfast. They could talk about the thinga they did over the summer.

He also had a gift for her, something that he had seen at a shop near his home and he thought of her. A grin spread across his face as he saw his best friend walking towards him. "Harley! Over here!" He had wrapped his gift for her, a locket. He had already put his picture in it, all she had to do was put hers on the other side. Then on the front "H&R" was engraved. He hoped she'd like it. He had asked for to be engraved.

Harley rarely actually ate in the dining hall. She usually would steal something from the Montagnard table, wrap it in a cloth, and return to her room until she was needed, and today would've been no different had she not heard Ryan call her over. She quickly abandoned the idea of eating alone, save Nyx, in her room and went to sit at the Ceriser table.

Climbing over the wooden bench, Harley squeezed between Ryan and another Ceriser wizard. She smiled and said, "What's up? I haven't seen you all summer!" She had the craziest stories to tell. Elijah had taken her to fly above the clouds, where Muggles couldn't see them, and it was truly beautiful. They had left at a ridiculously early time, letting them ride amongst the sunrise-coloured clouds. "So how was your summer?"

It had been a while since he had seen the girl and now all he could do was smile at her. "Hung out with Malachi for a week, spent some time with my brother, and did a bit of shopping during the summer. But right now, nothing is up. Besides the ceiling." He ggrinned at his lame joke. He didn't expect her to laugh since it was a terrible joke. "I could ask the same question, so I will. What's up with you?"

"My summer was alright, I spent a lot of time running and biking." He was beginning to grow muscles and he felt so fit. "How was your summer?" He said as her slid the wrapped box towards her. "Like I said, I did a bit of shopping." He wasn't sure if she was going to like it or not, but he hoped she did.

Harley raised an eyebrow at the mention of Malachi. The German boy was in her house, and she talked to him a couple times, but they didn't know each other too well. "Malachi? Malachi, the German kid in my house who you fought with over an owl when we were first years? That Malachi?" She let out a small laugh at his dumb joke. It couldn't be helped, she was a sucker for really bad jokes that made people groan in annoyance. "Nothing much right now. I was about to go back up to my room and eat up there. I just remembered I have this black cherry chocolate swirl cake up there that I made for my roommates birthday, but apparently she's allergic to cherry. I'll bring you a piece later, if you want."

It was obvious to Harley that Ryan had worked out over the summer. His arms seemed more muscular, and he had lost the two percent of fat he had on his face. "My summer was amazing. Elijah took me flying over the clouds during sunrise, and it was gorgeous. We should go sometime." She plucked a biscuit off of Ryan's plate and watched as he slid the box to her. Picking it up, she slowly unwrapped the box and opened it. "Oh. My. Merlin. Ryan! You have to stop buying me things! I feel bad now. It's gorgeous and I really love it, but it looks expensive." She opened the locket and saw the picture before closing it and running her thumb over the engraving. Throwing her arms around him in a hug, she laughed and said, "Thank you."

Given their past, it was hard to believe Ryan and Malachi could be friends. "I've turned over a new leaf." He shrugged. Plus, he was still feeling bad about the love potion last year. But it turned out that Kai was sorta cool, for a dweeb. "He's cool in a lame way." That was the only way he knew howto describe the boy. He was totally lame but Ryan found him sorta cool, sorta charming. "Cake sounds good," he nodded.

He smiled as she opened her gift. "Yeah, we should go flying sometime." It did sound pretty fun. "Hey, you can't tell me what t do," he said in a joking tone. "Just shush up and accept this beautiful locket." He hugged the girl back then placed a kiss on her cheek. "You're very welcome." He grinned. "It was nothing, I swear. So don't worry about the price."

"Leaf, shmeaf. I've changed you for the better and you know it," she joked. Harley had heard about the love potion ordeal, but she knew he was just pulling people's strings. She was just glad that she had decided to feast on leftover homemade muffins instead of going downstairs for lunch. That would've been a train wreck. "Cake is very good. I even had to ask The Brew Brothers to order in fresh black cherries from Muggle-land," she informed him, as if imported cherries would make him like the cake even more.

"How does tomorrow morning sound? I'll head over to your room then we'll swing over to the Quidditch Pitch, grab our brooms and head on out," she shrugged. "I'm your best friend, and I'm a girl. I can do whatever I freaking want." She knew that he wouldn't respond to that, just give another deep chuckle and move on. It was what worked about their friendship. "Fine," she jokingly grumbled. Harley unclasped the golden chain she had received from him on her birthday and slipped it on before hooking it back in place around her wrist. "It is most definitely not nothing. Since I didn't get you anything, here." She dug a piece of paper out of her back and a quill. Scribbling something on the paper she handed it to Ryan. "It's an IOU. Anything you need, I owe you one."

He was acting a bit better sonce he had met Harley. Malachi was also helping him become a better person. Both of them would be good for him, they'd shape hi, into a better person. "You wish," he joked. In reality, she was helping him. "You're not changing me much, I still hate that stupid thord year. Milan." He wanted to send a bludger her way over and over again. She was so annoying. "Serah is alright, I guess. I just can't stand Milan."

"Are you sure you wamt to owe me? I could make you dl whatever I want," he joked, a grin spread across his face. Though if it were someone else, he would do whatever he wanted. But this was Harley and he didn't know what he wanted from her. He was still going to joke around with her though. "I could make you dust my dorm, bake me muffins, go on a date with me, or make you do something embarrassing in front of everyone." He didn't plan on doing any of those though.

"More like I know," she joked back. She groaned at the thought of Milan. "Don't worry, I'm not too fond of her either. It does not help that Serah's room was right next to mine, and every time Milan comes over, I can hear her squealing. They talk about you sometimes, you know? Serah's got a crush on your alter ego, a nicer, more compassionate version of you. Basically they think you're hot and your personality is not. I couldn't care less. Apparently, to them, we're also a thing." So, maybe she had listened in with an amplifying charm that one time, but that was it.

"I already owe you, like, two favours. Just add another to the list. After all, I already help you clean your room, bake you food whenever you're hungry, and a week ago I fell off a pegasus and onto my face during riding class. There's not much I haven't done, so don't worry," she told him. "You have to use it, though. To ensure you use my graciously gifted IOU, it expires in two weeks. After that, it can only be used to make me do your homework. Got it?" She totally planned on getting him a gift too, but the IOU would be a nice pre-gift gift.

Ryan already knew that the girls gossiped about him, he knew that Serah found him attractive. But he had no clue that they thought him and Harley were an item. "Better them to believe I'm off the market than have them bother me all the time." He didn't like the fact that they assumed things like that. "But then again, we aren't dating and they should know that." Though he was single, they still didn't stand a chance. "Do they have nothing better to do than gossip about my hot bod?"

He rolled his eyes, he didn't want to use any favors because he didn't expect anything in return. He didn't really want anything in return. "I don't want to use your IOUs because I don't want anything." He didn't really need help with homework, he just asked for extra help when no students were around. He couldn't let anyone see him asking for extra help, people would call him stupid. "Whatever you say, Blondie."

Harley burst out laughing at Ryan's choice of words. "Never in a million years did I ever expect Ryan Green to say the words 'hot bod'. Oh, wow. I don't know, really. I've only ever listened in on them once because I heard your name. You're allowed to come over whenever, though, and snoop with me." She would even make snacks for them.

"Fine, then. I'm going to do you a favour, though, and when it happens, you're going to thank me. Profusely. You'll worship me like the divine being I am. For now, I'll settle for taking you flying. So tomorrow morning? We on?" Harley knew that Ryan's ego would get in the way of him asking her for something that he was supposed to do, but she also figured it was worth a shot.

He had been working out a lot and there was no denying that he was hot. "What? I'm hot, you know it." He smirked, he knew he was hot. He owned it. "I think we'll have to snoop on them sometime." No way would he stand for people talking about him. He had confronted the two tedns before but that didn't stop them from continuing to talk.

"Whatever you say," he rolled his eyes. He honestly didn't need anything from her. But if she insisted on doing something for him then he wasn't going to stop her. "Do whatever you'd like, I'm not going to stop you." He was looking forward to going flying, it would be fun. "Sounds like a plan," he nodded. "We'll go flying."
