Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round 2 Empty Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round 2

Professor Bowen hadn't seen weather like this in a long time. This year they had several new players who had never experienced flying through a blizzard. The temperature was very much below freezing and the grass on the pitch was covered by a foot of snow that at the bottom was quickly becoming ice. It was  It was the captains' last year at Beauxbatons so things were going to be intense, but this weather made things even more gritty. The storm also hightened the chance of injury. Thankfully, the infirmary was on standby with stretchers to transport whoever got injured. The sun was invisible and clouds had blackened the sky, a very inauspicious sign indeed. She grinned against the whipping wind and snow as the teams made their way onto the field. "It's nice to see everyone here despite the weather." She looked to the players more seriously. "Conditions like these are dangerous. I'd like to see everyone wearing their necessary protective gear. We don't need another case of injury due to not being able to see in a storm." She looked over to the Cerisier chaser she was referencing. Thankfully, it appeared he learned his lesson.

"I want a clean game, especially in conditions like these." She warned the teams again. "Captain shake hands." Once the captains shook hands, Bowen released the balls and blew her whistle. The game had begun.

Game ends 7/26. Announcers are Guenevere Ainsworth and Charlotte Antonin.

Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round 2 Empty Re: Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round 2

This wasn't the first time Mabel had performed in terrible weather. She couldn't say she enjoyed the cold weather because she didn't. She hated winter, she hated the extra layers of clothes that made her sweat. Even if she was sweaty, she was still cold. It was like her body couldn't figure out if it was cold or hot. She knew that the weather would be tough for some of the new players so she took it upon herself to warn them about the harsh conditions.

While in the locker room, she paced back and forth eyeing her team. "Make sure to bundle up. But not too much that you can't perform well, yet you want just enough to stay warm. I don't need any of my players getting frost bite." Whether they believed it or not, she did care about her team and their safety. "Perform well, do your best, and try to stay warm." She had made sure that everyone had got their practice in and that they would be performing their best. If not, they would have to hear from her. "I want to see that snitch in your hands, seeker."

Once on the field, Mabel shook hands with Stephanie. "Try not to fall off your broom," she warned. It would be a shame if anyone got hurt in this kind of weather. Soon, the whistle was blown and the balls were released. The seventh year kicked off the ground with her bat in hand and took her place in the sky with the rest of her team.

It certainly wasn't ideal playing weather, it was probably the worst conditions she had ever played in. Still Milan was more relaxed than last time, mainly because it was hard to stay mad in the freezing cold. Of course, she still wanted to win just as hard as last time, probably more now that they had a real shot. She had vowed not to taunt any more players, though they were sure to carry grudges. After the captain's speech, she kicked off in the air and braced herself for the blizzard wind. It was quite a risky descent in the air and the broom was still shaky when she was level with the players. She was the first to grab a Quaffle and pass it off to another player. Milan missed her mark and everyone went flying to intercept it. Several long interceptions later, she managed to intercept it by outstretching her gloved hand a few inches.

She weaved in and out of the players as the snow got in her eyes and lost hold of the ball just five feet from the goalposts. "Damn it," she fumed and turned around, furiously hunting down the Quaffle. She doubled her speed as the wind flew in the opposite direction. Luckily the Quaffle was intercepted by another Cerisier chaser who passed it to her. She caught it and hung on to it for dear life and made a beeline for the goal post. Immediately she was surrounded by multiple chasers and had to take a risky long range shot at a lower goal post. "YES!" she couldn't help exclaim when the Quaffle tethered in, not because she had scored but because it was unbelievable. She went back to her teammates feeling more confident, even though the game had just begun.

Today was not a good day for Quidditch but Stephanie knew full well that the game would go on. It always went on. She looked at her team gathered in the changeroom. "We won last game but don't let that make you complacent," she reminded them, "and everyone please be careful out there. Make sure you've got your goggles on. We do not need anyone blinded and then getting hit by a bludger because they couldn't see."

With that over she pulled her goggles down over her face and braced herself for the cold windy snow outside. Truth be told she preferred this to rain. Rain, in her opinion, was so much worse. On the pitch the weather showed no signs of having abated since walking down to the change rooms from the castle. It was going to be difficult but she was determined to not let the snow put her off.

She shook hands with Mabel and then at the blow of the whistle was off and in the air above the other players. It was hard to see anything but Stephanie was going to catch that snitch. She had to catch it.

There was no one more obnoxious in this world than Milan Rein, Heather decided. So freaking what? You scored a goal that was slightly harder than most, woo god damn frigging who skunkbag. Heather wanted to pound the girl's face in. She hoped Milan's cockyness got her hurt. Heather just gritted her teeth and sat up on her broom. She waited patiently and was able to steal a quaffle. She grinned slightly and boomed it down to the chaser closer to the other goal who easily popped it in for a score.

Heather was too angry to even let the weather bother her. She was seeing nothing but red. Like the first one Heather managed to steal the quaffle and pass it out for an assist on a goal yet again. She hovered comfortably in net. Come on Cori.

Trent was used to playing in crappy weather, but he still hated the cold. Though he was so excited to have Guen announcing, and he so wanted to have a good enough game to impress Guen because after all that was basically all Trent lived for. Trent took the pitch and glanced over at Milan. It was weird being teammates with someone his sister loathed, but it was what it was. Trent hopped on his broom.

Trent let Milan play the offensive at first. He actually tried not to laugh out loud when he saw his sister's face at Milan's screaming of 'Yes!' He was pretty sure his sister was going to attempt to murder that girl.

Trent stole a quaffle in an exchange between the Montagnard chasers and well his sister. He tried not to grin to widely as he fired it straight between her shoulder and head as hard as he could. He was already flying back on defense. He knew he scored and smiled.

Just a couple minutes later Trent once again had the quaffle and had fired it past his sister. He felt bad for beating her, but not really. It was fun. They'd gotten used to practicing over the summer. He knew how to beat his sister.

Harley knew that the weather wasn't what most people enjoyed but she did it for some odd reason. It was a weird thing, but it just seemed to make her more alert and try harder- and after their loss last game, bad weather may have been just what she needed. When the whistle tweeted the first time, she kicked off the ground with confidence, holding her broom steady in the ridiculously strong winds. She wobbled a few times, and the snow was making her grip on the broom slip a little so she took a deep breath and squeezed her broom tighter.

The game started soon after the captains shook hands, and in a couple minutes, Milan, of course, scored a goal. She scowled and shot after the closest bludger, hitting it away before it could barrel into a teammate. It was hard chasing after them in the blizzard, she could barley see her gloved hand, but Harley chased after them like her life depended on it. The seeker must've been having an extremely difficult time trying to locate the nearly invisible snitch. She just hoped that no one got hurt too bad in the rough weather they had.

Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round 2 Empty Re: Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round 2

Philip was not doing a good job at all playing today. Playing in the cold was not as bad as this last year. Maybe he had gotten too confident after playing a good offense in the last game, who knows. He was trying not to think about it too much. But he knew he had Charlie’s support up in the announcer’s box, so that made it better.

Any chance that he had gotten with the quaffle, he passed it to his other chasers and BAM a Cerisier, that Trent guy or Milan, would show up out of no where intercepting it. He was forced to retreat back to defense. Philip was fairly certain that Mabel was going to beat the crap out of him for this or kill him with a bludger. He really hoped their new seeker would catch the snitch and get them out of this game.

Philip finally got a hold of the quaffle again and he was not letting go of it until he got to the other side of the pitch. And that is exactly what he did. He surged down the pitch and threw the quaffle as hard as he could towards the right post. Score. At least he felt a little bit better now.

Christine did not like to play in weather like this. "They should have the decency to cancel the match if there is a blizzard," she complained before putting on her goggles as Stephanie ordered. Her sister did not care if she caught a cold and died. Just so long as they won. That was all she cared about. No words of wisdom or warning for her younger sister. Just telling everyone to be careful

This time she did not have the confidence that Cerisier would win. Over the four years Christine had been on the team she could only recall two times when her sister caught the snitch. The last two matches. How could Stephanie possibly catch it in this weather?

A bludger whizzed past her ear bringing Chrstine's mind back on the task at hand. She needed to hit bludgers, not them hit her. The next one did not take her by surprise as she flew after it and hit it toward one of the Montagnard players.

Guen really hated getting up in the morning. Like really hated it. But there she was, up bright and early to announce in her first quidditch match. She was super excited and nervous. She knew Trent was really excited that she was announcing. Even if she could barely see what was going on during this match.

She smiled over at the blonde to her left. Ah…what was her name again? Started with a C… She really did not what to have to ask her again. She was so bad with names. Anyways. “I think the weather for this match is definitely the worst I’ve seen since being at school.” She squinted. “It looks like Cerisier is trying to make up for their playing in the previous years. The chasers are not letting up on poor Heather Davies.” She paused. Charlie! That was the girl’s name.

"Whoo!" Milan cheered as she saw a Bludger whizzing straight to Montagnard, she hoped it hit someone hard. Not that she wanted someone to die, but seeing people get hit was fun. "Don't you ever get that feeling where you want to pound someone on the head with a Bludger?" she wondered aloud to a random player next to her. She spotted the Quaffle and immediately took off, leaving them in the dust. The Quaffle was passed to her and she passed it off to another player closer to the goalposts. Unfortunately due to wind her aim was off and a Montagnard Chaser intercepted it. She gritted her teeth and tailed them furiously, like predator hunting prey.

"Oh no you don't," she growled as they paused a good distance away and tried to shoot. They must've been awfully cocky to think they could make that long of a shot. She thrust her broom upwards and intercepted it, then raced to the opposite goalposts. She kicked her broom for extra wind and tried to fight the snow. She ignored the flock of players surrounding her until she saw a Chaser in front of her with their hands up, trying to intercept her goal attempt. She backed up slowly and with all the strength and anger she could muster, threw the Quaffle into the highest goal post. It was more like a rage shot, but it sunk perfectly in. Score. Her face broke into a smile but her eyes roamed for Stephanie, trying to see if she was making progress on the Snitch.

No matter how hard Montagnard tried, Cerisier was always ahead. If they torn won this game, there would be no end to Mabel's rage. She would be everyone practice even more than she always made them, it would be much worse. The weather was partiallly to blame, but most of all she blamed her team. The new seeker had better catch that snitch or else. No one wanted to know the 'or else' part. No one. She held to her word when she threatened someone, no one got away with messong with her.

The cold wind made a shiver run down her back as she swung her bat at a bludger. Sge sent it flying towards a blue and green player. The quicker they won this, the quicker they'd go back inside. The quicker they'd get warm.

Harley rolled her eyes at Milan's offhanded remark. Although she wasn't the person the annoying Ceriser chaser was talking to, she was close enough to hear it- even through the howling winds. Stupid, cocky, annoying Milan, Harley thought. With every insult, she darted after bludgers and hit them hard towards any Ceriser player.

According to the announcers, Montagnard's chances of winning the game, especially in the weather, were not looking good. It was beginning to get dark, like, really dark, and in that weather there was practically no chance of the game ending soon. Still, she blocked the bludgers as best she could without falling off her broom. That would be horribly embarrassing. After switching the bat to another hand for a moment, she shook out her right arm, trying to wake it up. "I hope this game ends quick," she mumbled to herself before taking off at another bludger.

Philip could see how angry Mabel was getting, especially since that stupid Milan chick scored again. The pressure was certainly on now…well it had been, it was just more intense. He was focusing hard on the quaffle, swooping in and kicking it away from Milan and to one of his fellow chasers.

They passed the quaffle back to him and he almost made it to the posts again, except a bludger was sent his way. He maneuvered out of the way, but fumbled with the quaffle and it fell landing in the arms of a Cerisier. He cursed under his breath and flew back on the defense.

Cori actually loved this weather. It made everything much more quiet. That was good for her. Her favorite way to track down a snitch was with her ears. It was easier than letting your eyes trick you into thinking a splash of light was the snitch and ending up on the wrong side of the field. Cori dodged a bludger and just slowly made her way around the pitch waiting for any change in sound or possibly a sighting of the snitch.

Cori heard the what she thought was the wings and sped as fast as she could. Stephanie was not beating her to it this time. Cori flew as fast as she could. She wasn't going to let anyone beat her.

Charlie felt so bad for her boyfriend. So she'd cheer him up she decided. "Philip looks very cute in his winter equipment. Don't you think, Guen?" She nudged the brunette girl beside her. It wasn't much of a secret they were both her pretty much only to impress their boyfriends whom were going head to head. Charlie ignored this fact though. "Montagnard is being completely out played on offense, sorry Philip!" Charlie said quickly. "The chaser Milan seems to be irritating everyone on Montagnard. Maybe it's her strategy to get hit by bludgers more often. Though I recommend not getting hit by bludgers." Charlie rambled.

Trent soared softly across the air looking for a prime opportunity to score a goal. When he saw the Bracknell boy drop a quaffle Trent bared down on it. He scooped it up and rose as high into the air as he could. He knew what he was about to do would probably give Guen and his sister a heart attack. Especially with his sometimes very poor vision. He'd seen skateboarders do it. How hard could it be? Trent dove as fast as he could. When he was close enough and had enough momentum he jumped right off his broom and whipped the ball towards the goal. The ball and himself sailed after it as his broom fell below them. Once he was through he changed his body to a diving position so he'd go faster and when he was close enough he caught his broom and hopped back on it. He was maybe a foot away from serious injury when he soared back up.

Cori had been right. She had heard a snitch. She flew as fast as she could. She really, really, really wanted to impress Indigo, and pull out the come from behind victory for her team. She flew down towards the ground upon seeing it and then had to zig zag her way out of the stadium, and then back in again. Then the stupid thing went straight up in the air. Straight incline flying scared Cori the most. She hated the feeling of gravity trying to push her off her broom. She was more than a little scared, but this was for Indigo, Mabel, and herself. She needed to prove she was good enough. Snow and wind whipped at her face as she kept soaring. Then the snitch dropped. Oh. Dear. God. Cori barrel rolled into a straight descent. She was flying faster than ever and stuck her hand out. She felt the little ball make contact with her palm and grinned. Game over. She'd really done it. However, she was stupidly distracted and ended up nearly hurting herself. She got off her broom and raised her closed fist in the air.

Guen laughed and shook her head at the blonde. “Charlie, I’m going to have to disagree with you on that one. Trent is much cuter in his gear.” She teased the girl. People were probably crazy or really dumb if they didn’t realize the reason why the two girls became announcers. “Speaking of Trent, he’s gotten a hold of the quaffle again. Sorry Montag-“ Guen’s train of thought exploded. What was Trent doing! “Trenton Stephen Davies!” She shouted into the microphone. “What the bloody hell were you thinking! You idiot! You could’ve died!” She shrieked and now that everyone was staring at her. She coughed into the mic. Guenevere was going to kill him. She was too distracted by Trent almost dying that she missed the Arnett girl catching the snitch.

If Guen didn't get to Trent first, then Heather planned on murdering her brother. What he had done was stupid, reckless, and dangerous. He deserved to be kicked in the nuts. Not long after he scored that goal, Cori caught the snitch. Heather was so excited to have her first win as a student at Beauxbatons. She supposed it might make Mabel relax a little bit too. It wasn't that the girl was a bad captain or anything. Sometimes Heather just felt like she needed to take a deep breath. Heather grinned triumphantly at her brother. Sucks to suck. It really felt nice to beat her brother.

Charlie sighed in relief when the game ended in a Montagnard win. "Montagnard's seeker bails them out of a potentially devastating loss and Montagnard wins one hundred and ninety to eighty. Your star of the day is Cori who caught her first snitch in the pitch black and snow today, congratulations on a good game and win. Guen, I'm telling you, Philip looks so good in that gear. Look at his cute little butt." Charlie rambled and giggled. She loved Philip's cute little butt. Charlie hadn't realized how cold she really was during the game until it was over. She couldn't feel her toes at all.

Stephanie was having a very hard time seeing anything in this blizzard. She had to find that snitch and end the painful suffering of the current match. Then she saw it but so had the Montagnard seeker. Wind and snow blew into Stephanie's face as she reached out for the snitch only to grab at the wind. The snitch had dropped and it was the other seeker who noticed first. Despite the odds being against her Stephanie followed and only just managed to pull up in time before she went plummetting into the ground. Montagnard had won the game.

"Next game," Stephanie promised her team. "We win the next game and we win the cup." Oh to experience the winning of the cup would be the best end to her years at Beauxbatons. Hopefully the weather would also agree to make things easier next match.

"We lost?" Christine asked in disbelief. Her sister had gone back to missing the snitch again. Any loyalty or hero worship she had of her sister was fast disappearing at the disappointment of losing match after match. Stephanie may be able to sing but she was a hopeless Quidditch player.

"You are all words Stephanie Laurene Henrau," Christine said caustically. She could not find any enthusiasm for quidditch playing whilst her sister led the team. Christine's only hope was that Trent or someone else took over after Stephie graduated. Anyone so long as it was not her. Stephanie did not want to lead something in which she would be blamed if the team lost.
