A new Adventure!

'right... no left?...' Hugo thought to himself as he looked at the map his parents had designed for him, 'wait this makes no sense!' he thought and he crumpled up the map and threw it into the bin. 'now where is that pub...' he wondered. Hugo continued to walk straight ahead he soon bumped into a wall that he swore wasn't there before. "what the....." he looked up at the sigh which read ' La Petit Dragon ' he straightened out his clothing before walking inside the building.

Once Hugo walked through the door his jaw dropped "schlecht!" he exclaimed, he walked further into the pub and as he was looking around he saw someone sitting on their own. "lets make friends then!" he thought to himself, he walked over to the table and smiled. " hallo!, is anyone sitting here?" he asked whilst sending a friendly smile their way. Even if they were going to say no Hugo sat down in the free seat and extended a hand to them. "I'm Hugo, Hugo St. Holmes! whats yours?!"

"Hi, Hugo," Serah answered with a smile. "I'm Serah Palmer. Are you a new Beauxbatons student?" she asked.

Serah was finally getting used to speaking in front of people. Over the summer, she had taken singing lessons (which were fun, even though she wasn't very good) and had gone and made friends in the Muggle world.

Her confidence was skyrocketing due to the fact that she had grown four inches over the summer and she was looking healthier and prettier than before. She even started brushing her hair.

So she had no trouble talking to the boy who plopped down at her table.

"Hallo Sarah! you have a pretty name" he said with a smile, when she asked if he was new to the school Hugo nodded. "yes I am, but i'm sure it'll be loads of fun! I get to spend more time with my cousin now, and I can finally start learning magic properly" he said with a fist pump, his German accent laced in his voice. "what's Beauxbatons like?!" he asked looking at her with anxious eyes and he was so excited that he didn't care if he sounded overly bubbly at this moment of time.

Serah laughed. Hugo was talking about a mile a minute with the world's biggest smile on his face.

"Thank you!" she answered, flattered.

"Beauxbatons is unlike anywhere else in the world. The grounds are beautiful and the castle is gorgeous. The teachers are great, too. The food is amazing. It's such a Muggle thing to say, but the place really is magical," Serah replied.

And everything she said she truly believed. Her first year was a little rocky, but she still only had good things to say about the place.

"It is definitely a lot of fun. But take it seriously, because it's also a school," she warned.

"Do you know what house you want to be in?" she asked. Serah then realized that it was possible that Hugo had no idea what she was talking about.  "Have you heard anything about the sorting ceremony?" She asked, just in case.

Hugo looked at Sarah in amazement as she briefly described what Beauxbatons was like. "really?! I can't wait to witness it all with my own eyes" he said, he had a dazed little look on his face as he imagined what his first year at Beauxbatons would be like. "what sort of food do they serve?!" he asked as he snapped out of his daze at the mention of food. "what are their deserts like?!"

Although when Sarah mentioned that he should 'take school seriously' he laughed a little. "No way! I want to live my life to the fullest! and I will make my first year at Beauxbatons the most excitingyear of school I will ever have!" he exclaimed proudly.

Hugo nodded slightly when Sarah mentioned the sorting ceremony. "Only a little bit, all I know is that you get sorted in-front of everyone in the main hall" he said with a slight shrug. "Hmm I don't really mind what house I am in!"

Serah laughed. "At Beauxbatons, you'll have fun while you're studying. Have you ever sat at a regular school and practiced catching something on fire?" she asked. "Getting a charm or spell correctly is the best reward there is," Serah said appreciatively. "It will be fun. Try a little bit of everything."

"It is something that you need to feel yourself. You'll find out soon."

"They have meat and potatoes and puddings and chipolatas at Christmas time. It's amazing. One night, I just had a plate full of trecale tart. That was a good day.They have different flavored cookies, depending on the season. Tons of cakes," Serah said, her mouth practically watering.

"I'm in Montagnard," Serah said. "The Sorting is a really fun ceremony. Basically, you have hundreds of kids cheering for you. It makes you feel wanted. Definitely a thrill," Serah remembered.

"But studying's boring!" he whined pouting slightly, when she mentioned muggle school he couldn't help but smirk. "I got excluded many times from my school because of what I did to my teacher and to people if they annoyed me" he said with a laughed as he remembered some of the memories. Hugo nodded "I will! but I cant wait to study transfiguration and learn about magical creatures! when i'm older I want to work in Romania and work with dragons" he said

As Sarah described the food at Beauxbatons Hugo couldn't help but look dazed "I cant wait to eat their food..." he said in a sleepy voice, since he was in a daze. "so many yummy foods!" he exclaimed.

'Montagard....' Hugo thought that name over and over again until something clicked. "My cousin is in that house I think!" he said with a smile "Do you know someone called Malachi St. Holmes?" he asked "He should be in his third year?"

Serah smiled wider. "I know Malachi. We hung out together a couple of times. I didn't have classes with him, since he's a year older than me. He's really cool," she answered.

"I pulled a couple of pranks last year. I set some tables on fire in the Great Hall, charmed the toilets so they'd continuously pour water, shot a spell at a stack of notes in Transfiguration... Yeah. They were totally worth the detentions" Serah said laughing.

"I don't think you'll have to worry about people annoying you. Everybody is pretty chill. But if someone hands you shit, give it back, for sure."

"is he really?!" Hugo asked looking at Sarah. "is he in your house then? or is he in a different one?" Hugo asked curiously.

Hugo looked up at Sarah with wide eyes "wow!" he said in awe "that sounds amazing!" he exclaimed "I want to pull pranks when I'm attending school now!" he said with a mischievous smirk. "but don't tell Kai okay?" he said giving her his best puppy dog look.

Hugo nodded "I will indeed!" he said with a chuckle. "But alas I will surely get a howler from mother and father" he said with a sigh.

"Yeah. Malachi is in Montagnard. That is how we know each other."

"Pulling pranks is the best part of being away from home," Serah replied. "Think of it this way: A howler is a sign of victory," Serah said, with a smile.

Serah really didn't have any reason to tell Hugo's secrets. He seemed pretty harmless. "Don't worry. Your secrets are safe with me."

When Serah saw the evil smile, she knew that he and Milan would get along swimmingly.

"If you ever need a pranking buddy, I'm available. Also, if you need to know some strange charms or jinxes, I can teach you some. Charms and pranks go hand in hand, trust me."

Hugo nodded "okay, so howler equals good and prancing is okay?" He asked a little confused. "Wait, no sorry I'm lost" he said honestly, he rubbed the back of his neck embarrassingly.

In addition when Sarah said that his secrets are safe with her he let out a little relived sigh. "Thank you" he said with a smile.

"Really?!" He asked looking at her with big eyes. "You will help me with my first prank?!" Hugo was getting more and more excited about school by the second, he restrained him self from jumping around. Hugo nodded "tha-thank you!" He said "I hope I'm in your house when I go up for the sorting ceremony" he said with a smile.

"A Howler a sign that you are doing the wrong thing correctly," Serah tried to explain again. "It's fun to get a Howler, if you don't get embarrassed easily."

"Of course I will help you! But you have to start small, first. Then work up to bigger stuff, so you have some sort of reputation."

"Hugo, I'd still help you if we weren't in the same house. You can always visit. Or I can visit. Cerisiers and Montagnards aren't really separated except during Quidditch games, mealtimes, and when we sleep. That's about it," Serah assured. "But if you really want Montagnard, the Goblet will know."

"Ah!" he said as it finally clicked "I understand now!" he said with a smile "Howler is a sign that you are pranking correctly and that it was successful" he said with a slight smirk. "I'm going to try and get 5 howlers in the space of a month" he said with a mischievous smirk. Hugo nodded at Sarah's words "Okay, what is a small prank to you?" he asked "because my version of small may be different to yours..."

"Okay" he said with a smile and a small nod of his head. "the goblet?" he asked confused "do you mean a drinking goblet?" he asked

"That's pretty ambitious. If you want those howlers, you can get them," Serah said.

"Small pranks are just little ones. Things that may get you a detention, but probably not. My first prank was levitating my teacher's notes across the room and suddenly dropping them everywhere. I didn't get a detention, but I had to write a paper. You gotta work up to it. They're funnier once people know you as the prankster."

Serah thought about how to explain the Goblet. "Yes. It's a drinking Goblet, but it's quite a bit bigger. And you can't drink out of it. It has these different colors in the water. It calls your name and you go up, and put one of your fingers on the surface. It asks you a question, but in your mind. Then you have to answer it. It's really strange."

Hugo nodded "I will go by my motto which his...." he climbed up onto the table and he yelled "to live my life to the fullest!" he did a pose and he looked up to the sky. Many people in the pub were looking at Hugo strangely and they were mumbling amongst themselves, but he didn't care.

After a while he jumped down from the table and he sat back down on his chair and looked at Sarah. "did you like that pose? I'm trying to make a slogan" he said with a smirk.

When Sarah was explaining her first prank Hugo looked at her in wonder, he laughed when she was finished telling the story. "That prank sounds really good for a first prank" he said with a little chuckle. "I want to dump something on a teacher without them knowing possibly.." he said as he thought out-loud. Hugo nodded and took mental notes.

"Ah!" Hugo exclaimed as he understood what Sarah meant. "I see now! the large goblet decides where you go by asking a question..." he then raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "how do you answer to the goblets question?"

Serah was a little surprised when Hugo jumped on the table. She wasn't going to tell him to stop, though.

"A slogan? I don't really have any ideas," Serah answered with a smirk. "And I'd get more super-hero-ish. Like, put your fists against your waist and puff your chest out more."

"Well, if it's a teacher prank, I can only help you plan it. I won't be able to see the results, since we won't have any classes together.But if you want to dump something on someone, Potions would be the class to do it during. We'll have to plan it when we get to school," Serah said.

"You can answer the Goblet out loud or in your head. But either way, no one knows what the question was. It's for you personally."

Hugo listened to her, he took mental notes of what she was saying to him. "Okay, so like this?" he asked, he stood up and done his pose again, but this time he added her suggestions, he turned his head to face her. "is this better?" he asked with a smile.

"Okay, I cant wait to start school now!" he said with a wide smile, he nodded and then raised an eyebrow "I don't tell anyone else though do I?" he asked slightly confused. "and do you know anyone else that could help plan with this prank?" he asked. Hugo was excited for Beauxbatons now! he couldn't wait to start his first year pranking teachers with practice pranks and maybe even some pranks he wasn't even meant to do.

"Ohh... Okay I see now, thank you" he said with a smile.

"Much better. Make sure the chin is tilted up a little more, though," Serah said, lifting her own chin up as a demonstration.

"My best friend, Milan, helped plan everything. If you get sorted into Cerisier, I'll have to introdue you to her. She's a pranking genius," Serah answered. "She has the brains, and I do the Charms work."

She had missed Milan dearly over the summer. But they had talked on the phone at least once a week.

"And I'm sure you'll find another first year who will have the same goals of living life to the fullest. You'll have a partner in crime before you know it."

Hugo nodded "Okay, I'll make sure to do that next time" he said with a smile. "thanks for the advice."

"Milan?" he said slightly confused. "ohhh I see, okya that sounds good to me" he said with a small smile. "so is she reallly that good at pranks? or are you juts saying it?" he asked. "Oh so it's like a double team?"

"really?!" he said "I hope so!" he exclaimed "then school will be much more fun if someone else could help me prank people and teachers"
