Sad Times Equal New Pet

Her mother didn't like the fact that she had a pet spider but as long as she kept it in a cage, she was allowed to keep her darling little creature. She didn't think it was fair that her poor pet was stuck in a cage all day but no one could truly understand this creature besides herself. Even if someone claimed to know all about spiders, they would never know Priscilla like she did. She loved her spider to bits and pieces and took very good care of her. It was sad to say that her best friend was a spider and that she was the highlight of her day. But that little thing was. Only the best for her bug.

Recently the poor thing wasn't eating her usual favorite food so she had to take her to the pet shop to see if she could get any help. She had suggested the vet to her mother but she quickly shut that idea down and said that there was no way that a vet would take in a spider and that it wasn't considered the type of animal they helped. Gretch was annoyed that her mom was no help and refused to help her. So, she did the only thing she could think of and paid a visit to the pet shop before doing her shopping for school.

She held the cage out to the owner and explained everything to him. She begged for his help and expressed her concern for her prized possession. The news hit her hard like a ton of bricks, he had told her that her beautiful pet was dying and would probably pass away in the next hour or so. She couldn't believe it. She had taken such good care of her and she was dying. He suggested letting her go so she didn't have to see her die, she eventually agreed because she couldn't see her friend die. She had meant so much to her and now she was gone. She got a frown and a pat on the head before he left with the cage and her friend.

She knew it was ridiculous to be so upset over a spider but she was so scared to start a new school and she was the only thing that she had. The only friend she had. But now she was going alone....unless she found a new pet. But could she do that to her pet? Replace her so soon? Was that what she would have wanted? She let out a sigh before picking up a kitten and giving it's a head a rub. "Now you're what my mom would approve of," she said softly.
