Max was sort of stealing Garnet away from whatever she had planned that night, but he didn't mind. He was just trying to get her to smile, and if it didn't work, he didn't know what would.

They finally stopped in the doorway of the observatory. "Since we both transferred and missed out on first year, we almost missed out on this gem," he explained, walking her into the room. "Look up at the ceiling," he said, pointing.

He had been pretty shocked by seeing the cosmos above him the first time he'd been here. So he was hoping for a similar reaction.

Garnet wasn't the best at making friends so she hardly had any. So it surprised her that Max had become her friend in the first place, their meeting wasn't the greatest But they had made it this far and Garnet wasn't sure what to expect from this or from him. He kept her on her toes and she was kinda okay with that. This friendship thing was new to her and it was kinda hard to get used to.

She didn't mind too much that he had taken her away, she had nothing else planned for the night. He wouldn't give her any hints to where they were going so she gave up on asking. She raised an eyebrow at her friend before doing what he said. "Whoa," she breathed. It was so beautiful, she had never seen anything like it before. "It's so pretty." She was close to smiling but she wouldn't give him the satisfaction of seeing her smile or him being the reason behind it.

She was close to smiling, but of course she wouldn't. It was mildly discouraging, but the fifth year had already experienced disappointment much worse than this girl could deal to him. It didn't matter, he supposed.

"We have to stargaze. It's necessary, I think." Max walked to the very center of the room and sat down. He wanted to lay down, but he felt like that would make him too vulnerable. "The view will change, too. Sometimes, you'll see the calendar and the location of all the planets in their orbit, and then sometimes you'll see the constellations," he explained to fill in the dead air.

Just then, the constellations became visible. "I know it's hard to see, but those five stars," he said, pointing at the ceiling. "That's Aries. The big star is Hamal. It's brighter, but cooler than the sun. Random geek facts, for ya," he joked.
