It's Only a Crush

Post by Quentin D'Angelo on Sun Jan 05, 2014 6:10 pm

Quentin enjoyed eating his meals with Caleb rather than sitting at the designated Cerisier table. Though he liked his house and liked it when his house won quidditch games, he liked being able to talk to his best friend even more. Caleb was the sort of friend whom Quinn could tell anything to and knew he wouldn't be judged, like the one time he was accidently sent a package meant for Odette and almost kept it. Caleb also gave the best advice. That's why he figured he'd ought to tell him.

Though Quentin never thought it to be a big deal, he supposed that by not telling Caleb he was technically keeping a secret from his best friend. He didn't want to make Caleb feel lied to or like he couldn't trust him, because that was exactly the opposite of what was true. Quinn just didn't know how to talk about crushes, and quite frankly, didn't know how to deal with them either. Apparently his crush was pretty obvious, to all but the one herself, but maybe Caleb could offer some advice to him on how to tell Paige that he thought she was pretty. Or how he liked her laugh. Or how he thought she was awesome when she played Quidditch. He liked that in a girl, the ability to play Quidditch. He supposed he knew where to start, though.

"Hey Caleb, I've got something to tell you," He started, staring down at his plate and poking nervously at the food on it with a fork. "I've, ummmm, got a crush on someone."

Re: It's Only a Crush

Post by Guest on Mon Jan 06, 2014 4:49 pm

Ever since last year, Caleb had a funny feeling in his stomach. It didn't happen all the time, it only seemed to happen when he was around a certain sixth year. He just couldn't help himself, he had a crush on Sawyer Johnson. Though it was unlikely that the boy would ever like him back, Caleb could still admire him from afar. And talk to him and think he had beautiful eyes. Sometimes his stomach made flips and tricks just thinking about him and this was one of those times. He picked and poked at his food but never took a bite.

He just had to tell someone about his crush and how it would never happen and it seemed like it would never ever go away. He looked over at his friend when he spoke to him. "You've got a crush too? On who? Do I know them? I bet I know them." What a relieve! Maybe Quinn could help him out with his little problem. "I have one too, but it probably will never happen." His fork scrapped against his plate, he didn't like the sound so he set his fork down. "How does someone get over a crush?"

Quinn was a bit surprised at how eager Caleb seemed to discuss the topic, but a large part of him was relieved. He knew he had chosen right to speak with Caleb about this above anyone else and it even helped that Caleb had a crush too. He probably understood exactly how Quentin felt.

A blush formed on his cheeks as Caleb claimed he probably knew them. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure you do," Quentin confessed. His eyes shot about them to make sure the Montagnard beater was no where in sight. He didn't want her to find out like that. He'd rather tell her himself and preferably in a romantic manner. "You know Paige Bellerose, right?" He asked, in a near whisper.

His lips tugged into a frown at Caleb's lack of confidence. "But why? You're a great guy!" Quentin started. "You're cheerful and sweet and I'm sure any girl would love to hold your hand." Quentin patted his friend on the back. He never wanted to see Caleb that down again about anyone.

:"Of course I know Paige, she's my other best friend." He liked the girl too, ever since she had kissed his cheek and he had kissed her cheek in return. Was it okay to like the same person? Would it be okay if Caleb brought it up? "I kinda like her too," he decided to be honest. Honesty was the best policy after all. "You should totally go after her! She likes hats, dresses, candy. I got her this hat for Christmas and she seemed to like it so I think you should get her a hat." Even if he did have a crush on Paige too, he wanted his friend to be happy. "You should go for it, it's worth a try."

Then it was about him again and his crush on Sawyer. Was it normal to have two crushes? He wasn't so sure. But he did like both of them. "Well," he started, he looked anywhere but at his friend. "I...he's a boy and I'm pretty sure he doesn't like me back. So, I shouldn't even try if it's never going to happen." He finally looked over at his friend and gave him a sad smile. "Thanks, Quinn." He had already embarrassed himself in front of Sawyer by telling him he liked his eyes. "I like the way his eyes shine in the light..." he found himself whispering without thinking about it. He looked down the Montagnard table to see if he could find the older boy but he was no where in sight.

He felt his heart sink to his stomach as not only did Caleb announce that Paige was his friend (which he was entirely fine with) but she was also in his interest as well. He never wanted to fight over a girl with his best mate. "Well, I think we should let her choose," Quentin replied, trying to not sound as crestfallen as he felt. He wouldn't like to lose Paige's affections to his best mate, but if that's how it turned out, he'd be happy for the two of them. It just wasn't worth it. However, it appeared that she wasn't the only person he liked.

"Oh a boy," Quinn replied. "Well, why does that change anything?" He asked, after a moment to take in the new information. Even if his love interest was a male, Caleb was still a great guy. "You don't know until you try!" He couldn't just let his best mate give up just like that. It made him look so sad and meek and Quinn didn't like it.

Caleb thought that he didn't have much of a chance with any of the people he fancied, not that he tried though. What if they didn't like him back? He'd rather keep his friends and not even try. "I guess she could choose, but I'm not gonna try." He was really bad at crushes and he always embarrassed himself. "I say go for it though, you can do it." A grin spread on his face, he wanted his friend to at least try. He wouldn't mind Quinn dating Paige(that is if she was interested, she didn't seem interested in anyone really), he would be happy that his friends were happy. "Make sure you whoo her with your awesome hair."

:It changes things because I'm pretty sure he doesn't like me is because he's probably straight." If he was the straight then Caleb had no chance at all, but he could still admire him. And look at his pretty eyes and his smile. And oh that smirk! He pushed his plate away so he could set his head on the table. 'I don't know, Quinn. I don't wanna creep him out by flirting and staring at him."

Caleb was great in Quinn's mind. He was kind and caring and sweet and always saw the best in people. What more could anyone want in a boyfriend? Compared to Caleb, Quinn was nothing. He was nervous to compete over Paige's affections with him, but tried to keep good sportsmanship about it. He smiled as Caleb said he should use his hair. "Yeah, it's a real chick magnet," He replied, though if Paige didn't already find his hair attractive, he doubted she ever would. Maybe he should try a different color?

However, what he hated even more than the idea of Paige not liking him back was seeing Caleb lack confidence. He took Caleb's face in his hands and made his friend look him in the eye. "No more of that. You're great Caleb! I wish you could see how great you are! And honestly you are hot enough that I'd even question my sexuality if you told me you had a thing for me," Quinn said, trying his best to cheer up his mate. He found it silly that Caleb would give up because he didn't know if the boy of his dreams liked boys or not. For all he knew, Paige could be into girls but he was going to try to woo her anyway and if it turned out that she wasn't into him, he'd apologize and then back off. Easy as that, only with a side of heartbreak.

He released Caleb's face and then squeezed his arm. "I think if you really like him, it's worth a shot. And if it doesn't work out, then I'll be there for you. Like I am sure you will be when Paige rejects me."

Re: It's Only a Crush

Caleb couldn't help but blush at his best friend's words, he felt kind of special. He had never heard words like that directed to him. Sure, he had gotten a compliment or two but Quinn's words were different from just some compliment. "Really?" He couldn't believe that Quinn would question his sexuality if Caleb said he liked him. Was he really as great as he said he was? "That's sweet, you're sweet." He grinned then, without thinking about it at all, placed a kiss onto Quinn's lips. He thought nothing of it at first but then realized that he had just kissed his best friend. On the lips. Kissing on the lips was different than kissing on the cheek like he had did before. "Whoops," he grinned sheepishly. "My bad."

"You don't know if Paige will reject you or not, I think you have a great chance. Just be yourself, you're awesome. And if we both don't end up getting the girl or boy, we'll have each other and we'll have a party. I like parties."

Quinn nodded to assert his opinion. He meant what he had said to Caleb. Caleb was his best friend. He wasn't going to lie to him just to make him feel better (though he would, if he knew that would make Caleb feel alright). Maybe his choice of words weren't exactly perfect with the whole 'you'd make me question my sexuality' thing, as the next thing Quentin knew, Caleb was kissing him. Quinn had never kissed before and tensed up a bit as his mate's lips were on his own. However, he figured if he was going to give his first kiss to anyone, it should be to someone that mattered to him, which was Caleb, and so he gave in a kissed back.

A moment of silence ensued as their lips parted, in which Quinn had to regard the question 'am I gay?' He shook his head as he figured it didn't matter right then and returned a smile to Caleb. "It's alright. I'm glad you got my first kiss," He replied, blushing slightly. He grinned as Caleb gave him such kind words and advice on Paige, but still felt regret that he would be competing over her affections with someone he cared about. However, he didn't mention it and instead pulled Caleb into a hug. "Thanks Caleb. You're the best!"

Re: It's Only a Crush

It was an act of impulse, that was it. Why else would Caleb kiss his best friend? He couldn't like Quinn, could he? He could like anyone really, but he wasn't quite sure how his feelings worked. He knew that his stomach did flips and he blushed around Sawyer, he knew that Paige was pretty and that she made him smile, and he knew that the blue in Quinn's hair made him look very good. But did that mean that he liked him as a crush? Or just as a friend? You could think someone was cute without having the hots for them, right? The kiss left Caleb feeling very confused, especially when Quinn kissed him back.

He didn't want to let Quinn know that his feelings were now a mess. Caleb hadn't realized that it was also his first kiss too. "Me too," he said softly. "Well, now you know what to do when you get the opportunity to kiss Paige. And if things don't work out, I'll bring the party hats." He grinned and patted his friend's back. "Thanks, you're the best too."
