Temptation's Touch Empty Temptation's Touch

Post by Linette Puchard Sun Mar 03, 2013 4:16 pm

Linette was loaded down with an owl cage and all the purchases she'd made that day.  She really should be going back to the pub and wait for her father.  However, curiosity refused to let her go past the Quidditch supply shop.  It was odd considering she'd never played and wasn't even sure if she ever could play.  She'd only ever gone to a few games with her father and siblings.  It was interesting but that was only because she'd read some books about Quidditch beforehand.

She walked around the shop slowly looking at everything for sale, thankful she had no spare hands for picking anything up.  Especially the books on Quidditch.  Without the power to give into temptation it made things a little easier and she could hand over the remaining money to her father with a clear conscience.  Feeling her arms weighing down even more Linette placed the owl and bags carefully on the ground.  With her hands free and shaken out she then reached out for the book on the teams of the Professional French Quidditch League.  Could she at least buy this one book as a reward for not buying any extras at the bookshop?

Temptation's Touch Empty Re: Temptation's Touch

Post by Guest Sun Mar 03, 2013 4:20 pm

Walking back into the Quidditch shop, Katie had decided that she would get the quaffle she had looked at earlier. Walking over to where she had seen it and grabbing it, she made her way back over to where she would buy it. But while reaching in her pocket for money, the redhead noticed a girl looking at one of the books.

Walking over to her, Katie glanced to the book that the girl wanted, "You don't want that one," She said quietly, not wanting to make the girl scared from her sudden intrusion. "You want to find one on the English and Irish Quidditch League, they're much better."

Linette blinked at the other girl's suggestion in surprise. "Why would I want to read about a league in some other country? I'm French and this is France. Therefore I don't see why I wouldn't want to read about the French League." She felt like she'd been personally insulted by this girl insinuating the French weren't as good as the English. For once in her life she didn't want to read something. That something being any book about the English and Irish Quidditch League.

She placed the book she held on the shelf. "I can't afford to buy it anyway. Dad only gave me money for what I need." Linette studied all the books on the shelf and made a mental note to check the library at Beauxbatons for those particular books. The school should stock them shouldn't it? She sincerely hoped so. Even if it didn't she was going to spend as much time as she could reading in that library.

Temptation's Touch Empty Re: Temptation's Touch

"Hey!" Katie said, throwing her hands up in the air, "I'm bloody French! And plus, English Quidditch is much more exciting, more things happen." And it was true, in almost all of the French Quidditch matches Katie had been to, the snitch had been caught and nothing extraordinary had happened, but the English and Irish League was something different altogether...

Shaking her head and looking back to the girl a scowl crossed her face, it was obvious that the girl was interested in Quidditch, at least something, so why would she want to just lash out, "Probably never been to a Holyhead Harpies game..." She muttered, twisting the quaffle around in her hands.

Linette had no idea if the other girl was telling the truth or not about the leagues. "I've seen exciting things happen in the French league." Okay it was mostly amongst the spectators but it was still exciting. The fights were funny in her opinion. No greater entertainment beyond the fight between the seekers for the possession of the snitch.

She shook her head at the girl's mutterings. "My father can't afford to take me away to England just so I can watch some English team play," she argued. It wasn't like they were made of money and any travel she did was usually to her mother in Luxembourg. Often that cost nothing more than her father sidealong apparating her there. Matches, on the other hand, required the purchase of tickets. "So how many matches over there have you seen compared to France?" That in her opinion would prove whether or not the other girl knew what she was talking about.

Temptation's Touch Empty Re: Temptation's Touch

Katie shrugged, "I used to live in England, until I was four then moved to Paris!" She said, waving a hand and reaching down to pull out a book on the English Quidditch League, "Dad takes me to the games in England sometimes, they're more daring than they are in France, plus the Holyhead Harpies are English, best team ever, by the way." She added the last part in more of her inner thoughts, although she had spent most of her life in France, she still considered herself English.

The redhead couldn't honestly say how many Quidditch matches she had been to, at some point they had all blurred together in one big long match, which she was sure wouldn't be ending any time soon.

"If you think they are more daring then I think you haven't watched any French games at all," Linette argued. She found it highly offensive that anyone would suggest the French Quidditch teams weren't daring. The team from her own home town were amongst the most daring of all flyers in her opinion, despite the fact of the few games she'd seen their team were only in one of those matches.

It wasn't fair at all. This girl who spoke nastily about the French had seen so many more games than her. Probably more French games too. On the other hand, maybe she hadn't seen many French games and that was why she thought it wasn't as good as the English lot. "I think I'll go now," Linette said. She turned her back and walked out. Stupid English girls. The redhead may have called herself French but Linette would never think of her as such no matter how long she'd lived in France.
