I Can't seem to put this Book Down Empty I Can't seem to put this Book Down

Though Persephone wasn't particularly fond of studying, she didn't mind cracking open a book every now and then to get a good read. In fact, Percy had developed a nasty habit of preferring lark book reading over studying and therefore the books that she had purchased in Amethyst Alley received a noticeable small amount of wear and tear compared to the books she could find in the school's library.

It was raining outside, not that that usually stopped Persephone, but with a small cold forming in her head and the chilliness in the corridors in school that threatened to turn it into something worse, Persephone thought it best to spend her day off inside the castle, with a book, by a warm fire place. But before she could do such things, she needed a book first.

After entering the library, the young Montagnard passed right by all textbooks and to her special little section she found for her fun reading time needs. Much to her surprise, there was a new book that she didn't recognize as one she had seen in the section before, however, it looked rather worn. Finding it to be a curious sight, the girl reached to pick it up for further investigation only to find that the covers of the book started flapping like wings and for it to take off, flying around the section before perching on top of a tall bookcase. "Woah! Did you see that!?" Persephone said to the person nearest to her, her mind in awe.

Finlay was searching for something to distract himself, as his friend Sawyer was busy serving a detention. The library seemed like as good a place as any, and reading was one form of entertainment that didn't involve another person. He was browsing around when he spotted Persephone picking up a book. He laughed when she she seemed captivated at its flying. "Haven't you ever seen a book fly before?" His home library had at least seven flying books in fact, and it seemed very commonplace to him. He supposed muggles didn't have the luxury of books that could fly, but wasn't the girl a half blood? "They're very cool."

Her head shaking slowly no, her eyes rested on Finlay for only a moment then they went back to watching the book. It's covers opened and closed like a butterfly would do. "I've seen books fall and get lost and get their pages dog-eared but I have never seen a book flu before."

She wondered what is was about. Perhaps about flying, she mused to herself. "It's too far to reach now, though," Percy noted, a bit crestfallen. "Help me get it, won't you?" Between the two of them, they should be able to.

"I don't know if that's such a good idea." Finlay craned his neck to look up nervously at where the book had flown to. It was very high up and he had no idea how to get it down. "I don't think I know any spells about bringing books to the ground. Do you?" At home the books were always bound tightly to keep them from flying away, and they were generally only moved for dusting. It seemed like this endeavor was not going to end well and he didn't want to end up under a toppled bookshelf, and he hoped the same wouldn't happen to his friend either.

Persephone giggled at Finlay's excuse. "We can do stuff without magic, y'know," She reminded. Her lifestyle very much revolved around that idea. Her Papa abandoned the ways of the wand and did all the housework by hand, only bringing out the wand for potion-making and for when things really got out of hand.

"And what's an adventure without a little challenge?" She was set on that book and that book only. Since it seemed that Finlay was going to readily help her, she would just go and do it on her own, pulling books from the shelves in order to make a little staircase for herself.

Finlay doubted there were very many things that could be done without magic, but if Percy thought it was possible, maybe he could watch from a safe distance and catch her if she fell. "I don't think you should do that. You might get in trouble." He said as the girl started pulling dusty old books out. He wasn't a tattletale or anything, but he preferred not to join Sawyer in detention with Percy. "Maybe we could ask the librarian for help?" He didn't want his friend to think he wasn't adventurous, but he definitely didn't want his father to pay him a visit anytime soon.

Persephone's hope for adventure were not dampened in the least by Finny's unwillingness to play along. She smiled as she continued building up her book pile and replied, "What's an adventure without a little trouble?" She had already been to detention before and it wasn't so bad.

"No way! That'll ruin the fun!" She was already started to climb up the book pile and had to nearly lean over to face Finlay to speak to him. She wanted him to see the urgency on her face that said under no conditions could he bring the librarian into this. That would end her fun.

She hadn't been looking and didn't know well enough beforehand when she placed the Monster Book of Monsters down on the next step of the pile. What she had thought was just a somewhat gruesome, furry looking book, suddenly sprouted eyes and growled as she stepped on it. She jumped back in the shock of the moment, almost falling to the ground, but re-steadied herself. Suddenly the teeth were on her ankle and the girl cried out in anguish. "It bite me! The book bite me!"
