Linette wasn't the type to normally skip class and technically she hadn't. She had gone to potions class but on that particular day the ingredients she was required to chop up got to her in a worse way than normal. Animal parts had made her squeamish at the best of times. The combination of the frogs eyes, slugs and rats' livers were a little too much. It wasn't too difficult to claim to the professor she was feeling unwell. Linette really did feel unwell at the sight of those ingredients. She was sent to the infirmary which she did just in case the professor checked with the mediwitch.

The potion she was given tasted foul and sent on her way. It was like the mediwitch suspected she'd been faking it. Linette now questioned the wisdom of her decision. She had no wish to return to class as ordered. It would be finished soon anyway and there were no other classes afterwards. Therefore she decided to go find some quiet corner to sit and read the book she'd early shoved into her book bag with her potions text.

A class was in session on the ninth floor. It wasn't hard to figure that out with some of the awful singing coming from the other side of the door. Linette smiled to herself as she moved further down the corridor to find a nice shadowy corner. She settled herself down on the floor for what she estimated were the ten minutes left of class and opened her book to read. She was soon settled into reading A History on Influential Wizards and Witches of France and not even noticing that the singing had stopped and students were leaving the Melodic Studies classroom.

Sawyer wouldn't say he made a habit of leaving classes, or simply not showing up to classes, but he was not unskilled in it. He didn't do it to the point where he was doing poorly in any classes, and he only did it one a semester if that but it still resulted in a detention or two. To be fair he usually skipped his History of Magic class or Melodic Studies for those were simply the most boring classes in the whole palace. While he had been in Whisper Alley he found a gag shop that sold candies that made one temporarily sick, which sent him to the infirmary until the affects wore off and he was sent back to class. However he never did go back to class, much like today. He had been in melodic studies and they were going to be singing the whole class time and he didn't want to be a part of that so he got a 'nose bleed', since the beginning of the class he had been wandering the corridors. Whenever he heard footsteps from a passing professor he threw on a the cheap invisibility cloak he had bought at the gag shop. It was so cheap that he hadn't had it for even a year yet and it had some holes already , but it worked for this purpose.

He had been walking back to Melodic Studies to pretend like he had been heading back to class when it just happened to be over when he heard footsteps down the corridor. As a normal reaction he threw the cloak on and backed into a corner, the same corner the girl who was walking towards him decided to go as well. He stayed ever so quiet behind her while she read, which was a stupid reason to skip class for, until the class let out. "They're gonna see you." He whispered to her with a smirk.

Linette startled and looked around but saw no-one there. She then realised that the class was out. She scrambled to her feet as she watched students streaming out and walking in the opposite direction from her. That should mean she was safe. Thus she leaned back against the wall and puzzled over whether she really had heard the voice or not.

She held the book close to her chest and shrugged. Maybe it was someone using that camouflage spell recently taught in her charms class. That'd mean they'd be fourth year or higher. Linette looked over to where she heard the voice. It wasn't just a blank wall or anything like that. There were spots of what looked like the blue of the school uniform. The spell wasn't working very well then. She did wonder though why it was looking like that. Wasn't there supposed to be a shadowy outline you could see if you looked hard enough? "You do know don't you that they weren't looking our way? Look at them." She nodded at the chattering laughing second years walking down the corridor. None of them had looked behind them.

Sawyer had to admit that he was slightly disappointed when the girl didn't jump much from his mysterious whispering. He supposed some people just handled things a lot better than others, though he would make a mental note that she was not a good one to prank. She looked quite a bit older than himself, probably around Teddy's age and if she was he hoped it wasn't one of Teddy's friends or he might hear about this from her. He did however grin when he watched the girl examine the corner closely looking for him, he knew the holes in his cloak were sure to give him away, but it was still fun. He waited a few moments after she had said something to him, maybe she'd like she was talking to herself that way.

Finally though he pulled the cloak down off his head and let it rest on his shoulders, making only his head visible. "Yeah, I know. That was mostly to see if you'd jump. Which you didn't so congrats on keeping your cool there." He answered with a grin. He decided to take off the whole cloak finally since it wasn't going much now and he slung it over his arm.

She was a little disappointed to see the head of a younger student come out of nowhere. So much for the spell. "I think your cloak may be in need of some repairs," she observed. The holes did at least explain why she could see pinpricks of his presence rather than a shadowy outline.

"So sorry I disappointed you," Linette responded with a smile. "Would you like to try that again and I'll react appropriately? It probably won't work though. I guess my brother prepared me for things like this." Gone was her past habit of trying to keep quiet about her family. There was no point with Louise now at Beauxbatons with her. She leaned back against the wall. "So what were you doing back here instead of in class? If you answer my question I might tell you why I was here too."
