Dorm #14: Knock, Knock. Who's There?
Harley was curled up on her bed, peacefully skimming over The Odyssey with Nyx curled up by her side. She had successfully read the first two chapters of her Defense Against the Dark Arts book at breakneck speed, a task someone without an eidetic memory could have never accomplished, and completed her Arithmancy problems. Charms homework was finished, it was after all the easiest class for her. All she had to do in that class was find her style which consisted of how she moved her wand to cast a spell. Over all, today had mostly been used for homework, and now it was time to relax.
Suddenly, a knock at her door startled her and her roommate, who were both expecting no visitors. They opted for her to get the door, so she slowly slunk out of bed, her bare feet padding against the wooden floors. "Coming!" She said, wanting to make sure that whoever was behind the door didn't think she was ignoring them. She cracked open the door and leaned lazily against the door frame. "Um, hey. Did you need something?"

Re: Dorm #14: Knock, Knock. Who's There?
Philip hating asking Charlie for help on assignments. It always made him feel more...well stupid. He couldn't help it. She was so smart and his best friend and yeah. It was really a stupid reason not to go talk to her. His other reason for not disturbing Charlie was because she was finally getting sleep in during normal hours and he didn’t want to bother her at all.
So, he went down the hall to ask Harley. Kind of dumb, because she was equally as smart as Charlie, but they had talked a little bit last year and they were in the same class; so he thought that was good enough to ask her for help. Philip knocked on the door of her room. He smiled at her. “Hey, uh, yeah, would you mind helping with the Charms assignment? But, if you’re busy it’s okay?”

"Oh, um, sure. Come on in. Let me find my homework and I'll help you," Harley said awkwardly. It wasn't that she had done something wrong, it was just that people didn't usually ask her for anything, much less homework. People conceived her to be haughty and arrogant when showing people how to do something, but she was the opposite, she just never showed it. She was shy and quiet and slowly urged people forward and congratulated them on the smallest accomplishments, just because she figured it would make people feel better.
She pulled her satchel out from underneath her bed and dug out her wand and Charms notebook. She sat down on her plush bed and set her wand in her lap. "Okay, well, we're working on finding your finesse while successfully executing a fire-making spell," she said, walking over to the table, which was strewn with library and Muggle books, and sat down next to Philip. She tore a piece of paper out of her notebook and quietly said, "When I do it, My hand has to be firm and stiff, but you might have to keep your hand loose and free." She tossed the now balled-up paper into the air and snapped her arm towards it saying, "Incendio!"

Philip nodded and followed her into her dorm room. He glanced around. It was always interesting to see other people’s rooms because they reflected themselves. Harley’s room was relatively organized. He thought it showed off her personality. Philip sat at her desk where he was ushered to go and waited for her to join him. He watched her while she crinkled up the paper and set it on fire. Alright, that was easy enough…hopefully. He watched her while she set the paper on fire. “Impressive.” Philip hoped he was able to do the spell easily like Harley. "My turn?" He asked.

The paper ball burst into a shocking array of warm colours for a second before it started to crackle and plummet towards her wooden flooring. "Aguamenti!" She spoke, a thin stream of water spouting from the tip of her wand towards the ball of fire. "There we go," she said, pleased with her work. She had practiced that spell for nearly a week before she learned any fire spells s she could easily extinguish any problematic fires. It was difficult and required more concentration than she was used to providing, but it was also necessary for time like this. "Oh, yeah, give it a shot. Here is a stack of paper," she informed him, setting down sheets of notebook paper, "And I'll be back there to cast the Extinguishing spell. Um, I guess my best advice would be to not think about it too hard, just let it flow."

"Isn't Aguamenti advanced for us?” He asked with a raised eyebrow. Maybe he shouldn’t have gone to Harley for help either… Whatever, it was too late to run out of there now. Plus, she was trying her best to be helpful. He nodded at her, taking her advice to heart. Philip took a deep breath and crumpled up a few sheets of paper. Well…now all he had to do was the spell. After staring at the paper for at least two minutes, he finally tossed one piece of crumples paper in the air. He took a deep breath, his hand was more loose compared to Harley’s. “Incendio! Surprisingly, the paper burst into flames. He looked to her waiting for her to put out the fire before it hit her floor.

"Oh, yeah. Don't worry about it though, just think about the paper bursting into flames. I read that eventually we'll be able to do it without even saying the incantation," she said, marveling at the thought. Besides, Aguamenti had taken her hours upon hours of study and practice, more than she was used to. If she planned on becoming one of the most famous female wizards, though, hard work and dedication was expected. She wanted to make herself known to her birth-parents. She wanted to let them know that she wasn't a freak of nature, and that she did belong somewhere.
Nodding her go-ahead, she scampered across the room where she could safely cast her spell without spraying Philip in the face. She watched carefully as he let his arm flow towards the paper ball, whereas she had to snap hers. His was graceful and elegant, hers was precise and calculating. It erupted in a sphere of fire and warmth. She quickly cast her arm towards the ball and shouted, "Aguamenti!" It was quickly extinguished and she smiled at Philip. "Great job! It looked marvelous!"

Philip grinned proudly. Huh, that was amazing how quickly he had gotten that spell. He had been failing miserably on his own. He grinned over at her. “Thank you.” He stood up. “And thank you for your help too, I really appreciate it.” He touched her shoulder gently. “I have the Potions essay to do now or else I’d stay.” He gathered his things and headed for the door. “Thanks again, Harley.” He turned around and smiled at her. “Is there anything I can do to repay you for you help?” He always made sure to do something nice for Charlie whenever he asked for help, it was only fair he did the same for Harley.

She smiled with pride for her friend, for completing the spell, and for herself, for being a kind instructor. "I'm just glad you did okay and I wasn't too hard on you. Anyways, it's no problem. Feel free to come by any time, after all, I live a hallway down." Her smile slightly faltered when he touched her shoulder, though. She wasn't exactly comfortable with people touching her. At all. She covered it up with a cough and moved away by pretending to cover her mouth. "When you write that essay, put in quotes by Arsenius Jigger. The Professor loves that guy and will give you extra points for it. But yeah, no problem. Come by anytime. I'm either in here or the library, so." She turned around to clean up the ashes littering the ground and laughed, "Count on me calling in a favour at some point. Still, good luck. See you in class tomorrow." She watched him walk out the intricately carved wooden door and waved goodbye to him.
