Please Help!

Tamara frantically looked through her notebook. Nothing. She had completely forgotten to write down the last few notes from the last lecture in Potions along with whatever the last assignment was. Oh, she was so screwed. At least she was aware of the fact that there was an assignment. She groaned rather loudly and got hushed by the librarian. She mouthed a sorry and looked down at her notebook. Ugh. This sucked.

Tamara bit her lip and looked around, hoping to find a familiar face from her class. No luck, she almost gave up an went back to her dorm, until she saw Ruby. Her face brightened and she got up to hurry over to the girl. "Ruby!" More shushing from the librarian. "Hi." She said a bit more quietly.

Ever since Ruby had met the ghost named Raven, she was interested in learning more and more about the creatures. It turned out that ghosts were such amazing creatures and it was such fun to learn more and more about them. She would have to ask Raven more and more questions when she went back to visit her. Maybe she could get someone to go to the cemetery with her. But who would go with her? Rosie was out of the question and so were the girls in her year. Who wouldn't get scared if they were approached by a ghost? Marcy! She remembered that Marceline was a bit strange, just like her, and would probably enjoy going to the spooky graveyard with her.

But first she needed to read more and more books and the library was the perfect place to find those books. Before Ruby could start looking, she was approached by her friend Tamara. "Hello," she said softly. She knew to be quiet because the librarian was such a grouch and shushed everyone.

Tamara couldn’t help her loud voice, she had always been a loud talker with a voice that carried. However, she didn’t need to get kicked out of the library since she had a ton of work to do. She bit her lip and reminded herself to speak quietly. “How are you?” She whispered to her friend. Tamara hoped that she wasn’t keeping Ruby from something, she would feel awful about bothering her if she was. “I was wondering if I could borrow your potions notes and if you wrote down what the assignment was.” Tamara knocked on her own forehead. “I’m such a scatterbrain sometimes.”

"I'm fine," Ruby replied. And she was. Ever since she had found out about her birth parents being alive, she had been sort of down. But after talking to a stranger about her feelings, she was feeling much better. She hoped that she could get to know the boy in the near future. It would be nice to know more about the boy who helped her when she most needed it. "Potions?" Ruby repeated. Had she wrote down the assignment? Had she copied the notes? She could hardly remember. "I think I copied the notes and wrote down the assignment, but I'm not sure."

She had been having ghosts on the brain ever since she had seen one. Her brain could only focus on one thing at a time and at the moment that was the subject of ghosts. "Yes, I think I did write them down," she repeated. "Do you believe in ghosts?" She said, getting off topic.

“That’s good.” Tamara nodded and smiled at her. She remembered a conversation that they had had towards the end of the term last year, but wasn’t going to ask about any of that, because that would be prying and Tamara didn’t want to overstep any boundaries. “Yeah, the potions assignment.” She nodded. Her face fell slightly. What was she going to do now. Grace’s notes were mainly filled with their names and a bunch of hearts…so she doubted they were going to be helpful.

“Really? Oh, thank goodness! May I borrow them please?” She asked. “I really need to get that assignment done.” Tamara really hoped that she would let her. “Ghosts?” That was a random question.

Ruby had been feeling better since she had talked to the perfect stranger, he was so nice for someone she didn't even know. After meeting him, she wanted to get to know him more. "They might be in my bag or they're in my dorm." She always carried a bag around with her, usually they matched her outfits, she had a lot of bags and other accessories. She searched through her bag then frowned. "Wrong bag, it must be in my dorm. How about I send them your way later? I am on a mission to find some books, if you wait, we can go to my dorm together."

"Yes, ghosts. I'm looking for books on ghosts. I'm thinking about inviting Marcy to accompany me to the graveyard." She seemed to be into the same things as her and she wanted to get to know the girl more. "You know Marcy, right? She's younger than us."

Tamara nodded. Oh, thank goodness for friends. “Sure, I’m not in that much of a hurry to get the assignment done any ways.” She laughed softly. “That bag is cute by the way. Where’d you get it?” Ruby always had cool accessories. “Maybe I can help you find the books?” She wanted to be somewhat useful while she was waiting.

“I do believe in them, to answer your question. What’s got ghosts on your mind?” She wondered curiously. Ghosts were an interesting topic to have on one's mind. “Marcy?” The name didn’t ring a bell. “I don’t think I know her. Is she a year younger than us?”

Good thing she wasn't in a hurry to get the work because Ruby wasn't ready to go just yet. She grinned at the girl's comment about her bag, she took pride in the clothes and accessories she wore. It was her way of expressing herself and she loved to be different. "My mama got it for me," she stated, she gave the bag a small pat. "I added a few things to it. Like the lace and the buttons." It used to be a plain bag but it now had colorful ribbons, lace, and buttons. "That would be lovely."

"Ever since I met Raven last year, I've had ghosts on the brain." She wanted to know more and ask Raven more questions. "She's younger, she's my friend." She liked the same things Ruby did and people didn't normally have the same interests as she did. "I think she's totally rad."
