Cerisier vs. Montagnard: Round III

Post by Professor Bowen on Sat Feb 08, 2014 4:24 pm

Two wins for Cerisier meant the cup for the blue and green team, but yet three games a year were required to be played. Even though Montagnad's losing fate was already determined, Professor Bowen hoped that the team would still do their best regardless. This would be a measure of Sylvian as a captain to see how she upheld her team's morale during the game.

The year was proving to be one of bad weather as the stormy clouds Bowen woke to find in the morning progressively got worse by noon and started to pour their miserable contents upon Beauxbatons grounds by the time the scheduled game began. Much of the crowd had umbrellas, but Bowen and those others who were required to be on broomstick weren't so lucky to have the same shelter from the rain. Even walking out onto the pitch was a challenge and Bowen must've counted at least three puddles her boots had the misfortune of stepping in. Nonetheless, the game must go on.

"I don't want to see any slacking off today, okay?" Bowen started, hovering in the air, quaffle in hand and ready to launch. "Don't let a little rain dampen any spirits." Or a determined cup loss. "As always, shake hands captains, and good luck to both teams." The quaffle ascended into the air and the game had begun.

Announcers this game are Rene Pendlebrook and Fane Blevins
This match ends on Feb. 15th at 11pm EST.

After losing both games, the cup went to Cerisier again. Payton couldn't help but take blame for Montagnard losing, he couldn't even catch the snitch. But he had to keep his head high, he couldn't let his failing make him feel bad. He also had to be a good sport about it, like he always was, so he would congratulate the other seeker on her good work after the game was over. The rain didn't bother Payton too much, it was easy for him to work with. Once the game begun, Payton took air and looked around for the snitch. Maybe he'd be lucky enough to get knocked off his broom this game.

He couldn't let this ugly weather get to him, he had to stayed focused. Hopefully this game would be different from the others, hopefully he would catch the snitch this time instead of the younger seeker.

Quentin was grinning with pride, for no matter what the results of the game were this time, he'd still be taking home the cup for Cerisier. His first year as team captain and he had lead his team to victory! Not too shabby for him having fallen off his broom during the first game. Christian would surely be proud.

The blue haired boy gleamed with joy in the dark afternoon as he trotted onto the pitch, leading his team. He was determined to play his best regardless of their promised cup, wanting to win all three matches that year and letting no speculation as to which was the better team. He grasped Marie-Laure's hand in a sportsmanship like handshake before turning to his team. "Let's do our best as always, alright? We'll have a party later. Right now it's time to get to business." With that he got into position and readied himself to start scoring some goals.

Cerisier was getting the cup this year but that didn't affect Mabel all too much, she didn't care about all that. As long as she was able to do her job, she didn't care about what was going on around her. After hitting someone last game, she felt awesome. Though she didn't knock anyone out of the game, she was happy with just hitting them. The weather wasn't the best but it would have to do, she stuffed her hair into a hat that Caleb told her to wear then followed her team with her broom and bat in her hands.

Once the game began, Mabel kicked off the ground carefully. The rain made the ground muddy which almost made her slip and fall into the mud. That would have been embarrassing. She was finally in the air gripping her bat and broom tightly.

It was rainy and miserable weather wise, and going into the game knowing that the cup would be going home with the other team did nothing to lighten the miserable atmosphere. But Paige was never one to let herself stay unhappy so she quickly starting trying to look for the bright sides. For instance, one of her best friends would be taking home the cup this year for his first year as captain, even though she felt bad her own captain, and dorm mate friend, couldn't take it home her first year. It wasn't as if she hadn't done her job though, in fact she thought their whole team had played really well this year Cerisier just proved to play a bit better. That didn't mean any of them were about to throw away the last game though and Paige wanted to show Marie-Laure she still cared and backed her up.

Once the whistle was blown everyone was in the air, she smiled over to her fellow beater on their way up. She thought the new girl was doing very well for her first year. She thought she made a pretty good mentor even if she wasn't as good as Osmund was before her Mabel still seemed to learn well enough. The two girls would give them boys hell this game, that she was sure of. Within a few moments of the match Cerisier scored a few goals before Montagnard, in fact the quaffle was only seen in a purple and red players hands for more than a few seconds before it was gone again. The blonde quickly smacked a bludger in the direction of a chaser whom had just stolen the ball from one of her own chasers. This was going to be an interesting game even if they were all flying around with the extra weight of water soaking them to the bone.

Rene groaned when he walked into the box. He hated rain. It ruined his hair. How was he supposed to jell up his signature spike if he jell just washed right out of his hair. He sighed softly and did his best to fake an enthused expression. "Well, Cerisier has won the cup with winning the first two games of season, but because torturing people who don't even play the game is fun here we are in the not so sunny Beauxbatons quidditch pitch. Normally, I'd be foaming at the mouth for Montagnard to rip out the jugular of a Cerisian player, but I have lost all enthusiasm for the season. Woohoo...0 and 2...yay...Montagnard represent..." He said frustratedly. "Cerisier now leads thirty to nothing."

Thank merlin for being an announcer and not actually on the team. He was sheltered from the rain in the announcer's box and was quite comfortable with a steamy black coffee as his eyes watched over the pitch. He was grinning widely that morning as he knew his house would be coming home with the cup that day. Even his fellow's announcer's poor attitude couldn't get him down at that moment.

Clapping his hand on the back of Rene's shoulder, he spoke into the microphone, "Sounds like someone is a bit of a sore loser. But hopefully Montagnard team is not the same way. Everyone here wants to see a good show, not a massacre, though I am positive Cerisier will provide anyway."

The rain made the game all the more boring and Fane was having a hard time thinking of things to say. "Montagnard has a bad grip on the quaffle today, already being left in the dust with Cerisier having scored four goals. Perhaps they are trying a new strategy in which the rest of the team takes it easy and let their seeker do all the work? No offense to the one and only Seeker Johnson, but he doesn't have nearly a good enough snitch catching record for that. Looks like Sylvian needs a better method."

Montagnard wasn't doing so hot, each goal was going to Cerisier and bludgers didn't seem to affect the blue and green chasers. Mabel was starting to get frustrated, could her team not score at all? Were they all upset that they weren't getting the cup? That didn't mean they could just give up, the rain wasn't helping either. "Come on guys!" she yelled, her teammates were starting to get on her nerves. "Stop slacking off!"

There went another goal for Cerisier. The first bludger Mabel saw, she zoomed toward and hit it towards a blue and green player hoping it would help a little. She wasn't one to care about winning, but it was getting annoying that the other team kept scoring and Montagnard couldn't get a single goal in. It was ridiculous! "Ugh!" Another goal to Cerisier, this was hard to watch.

Marie-Laure was not happy with the performance of her team that year and she seriously felt she needed to come up with some new strategies come next year. Right now, despite the obvious loss of the cup, they had to at least win one game. She glared at her team in the pouring rain. "I expect everyone to do their best. We may have lost over all but there's no need to lose every single match." She had no clue what to blame the losses on but Marie-Laure was not going to give up. There were still two more years before she graduated and passed captaincy onto one of the other Montagnard players.

She very reluctantly shook Quinn's hand and then she gave her team one more nod before pushing off. There really were no more words to say. There was a game to win. It was unfortunate that not far into the game Cerisier was already pulling into the lead. Marie-Laure was getting frustrated with both herself and her fellow chasers at their inability to score any goals along with their keeper who failed to keep the quaffle out. Marie-Laure could hear the newest beater's words but just merely gritted her teeth as she flew for the quaffle and managed to catch it and fly to the hoops only to fail to score. This was not doing anything for her team's moral and at this rate she was going to have to rely on her seeker's ability to catch the snitch which recently had not been at all. "Don't give up," she shouted at her team.

Annaliese sighed as Montagnard was already going home with nothing and everyone knew it, but the game was still important to the whole team. No matter what, they need to make this win...to at least redeem a little self-confidence. She bit her lip looking up at the sky. It was not the day to be playing Quidditch...it was rainy and cloudy and looked like lighting could come down at any second and it a player. She rose into the air and took her post. She was trying her best to keep the bludgers out of the goal post, but there seemed to be so many coming at her at once that she couldn't handle it. She ducked trying to keep from getting hit allowing the Cerisier's to score another point on top of their already accumulated seventy.

Trent was having a blast. He would take playing in the rain over playing in the snow or in icy conditions any day of the week. Ice made your body feel so sore when your muscles moved, but playing in the rain kept you cool and made the quaffle so slippery it was easy to deal with playing defense. It did make offense a bit harder than normal though. He scooped up a quaffle as it tumbled towards the sopping wet Earth with his off hand because while healed his right arm was still hurting him to throw. He hurtled forward and threw the quaffle as fast as he could. It sailed through the post and he grinned widely. He came across the quaffle and threw it again. It soared right through the lower left goal.

Annalise groaned as Cerisier scored another goal. It just felt like a endless beat down from the chasers. At one point the end of her broom was hit, sending her into a spiral down allowing the Cerisier's to score again. Annalise felt like this was a repeat of her first year again, when Montagnard had lost 0:3. She wasn't sure how her captain was going to handle it. She quickly knocked one of the bludgers out of the way and gave a satisfied grin. She was trying hard to be confident for her team, because it looked like Payton was going to be their only hope as of now..and they seriously needed something to turn the game around.

Stephie tried to wipe the water away from her face but it was hard when the rain was so relentless and she could feel the wetness penetrating her clothes through to the skin. Not even the scoring from her team could do enough to make her feel more enthused. She sniffed as she tried to focus on the game and finding the snitch. Cerisier may have already won the cup but Stephanie still wanted her house to win again. She would catch that snitch and the chasers would keep on scoring right up to the end.

She felt something loosen from her foot and the third year looked down in surprise as her shoe slipped off her foot. "Watch out below," she shouted down at the other players. Now her feet felt odd with one weighted down by a shoe and the other with nothing more than a soaking wet sock. The sooner she caught that snitch the sooner she could fix up the problem she was having with her wardrobe.

The rain was pouring down in pelts, it felt like daggers against her cheeks and her Quidditch garb was soaked along with her hair. She winced at the each hit on the raindrops. They were making her eyes sting, blinding her view. She could hear the sound of the blundgers flying past her. This made her feel helpless against the other team throwing more and more blundgers towards the goal post, Anna tried to stop them with what little vision she had, "No!!" She yelled trying to prevent the next goal. "Come on Payton!!!" She cried out to the teams seeker. He was doing the best he could, despite the rain

Trent was officially in love with this game. It was like playing pinball. The score just going up and up and up with no cap to it. It was like a dam of Cerisier scoring had opened up with the help of their keeper's stout defense. Cerisier was just clicking on all cylinders and Montagnard didn't even appear like they wanted to be on the pitch. Which was rather disappointing, and from his peripherals he could see some fans of both teams leaving because of the rout Cerisier was having. He again was able to glide through the rain and scoop up the quaffle and with a throw sending it hurtling through the Montagnard goalpost.

It was unbelievable. Cerisier didn't falter for a moment and was hammering out goals nearly one after another. Quentin found himself moving at all moments to help obtain the large score Cerisier was accumulating. The quaffle hardly spent any time in the hands of a Montagnard, Cerisier was that on fire. He was grinning beneath his drenched blue bangs as another goal sent through the hoops granted Cerisier 150 points. They were getting to the point now where it might not even matter if they lost the snitch, they'd still win. However, Henrau had an excellent year as a seeker and he doubted that she would miss this snitch this game.

"Excellent work so far guys!" Quentin called, as he paused only briefly to catch his breath. Flying could really take it out of someone after they had been doing it constantly without any breaks and were doing all sorts of loops and turns to avoid bludgers. "Keep up the good work!"

The youth watched the display from above, munching on a bag of crisps as, much to his surprise, Cerisier managed to obtain a hefty amount of goals in a short period of time. At first, he was right on with commentated the score, but after awhile, he couldn't keep up. "So yeah, Cerisier has like a lot of goals. Montagnard is still at zip," Fane relayed, through mouthful of crisps. "What a game, indeed."

"Montagnard's last glimmer of hope is indeed an actual glimmer, which neither Johnson or Henrau have apparently caught sight of yet. Indeed ladies and gents, though it appears Cerisier has the game in the bag, it is not over until the snitch is-.." He broke off and dropped his bag of chips as his eyes landed on an ironic sight. "Caught! The snitch is caught!" He announced, baffled. Speak of the devil, he believed is the correct term to be used in such situations. "The score is 150-150! A tie!" But Cerisier still wins the cup and that fact alone made Fane a very happy announcer indeed. "What an incredible display! Ladies and gentlemen, this is yours truly, Fane Blevins, signing off!"

Payton was starting to lose hope, Montagnard was so far behind. They hadn't even scored, they were getting creamed and there was nothing he could do about it. The snitch was no where in sight, it didn't seem like the other seeker saw the snitch either. The rain was cold and nice warm drink sounded great but that wasn't going to happen til the snitch was caught.

Then, as if by luck, he caught sight of the snitch and as soon as the snitch was in sight, Payton zoomed toward it. No way was he letting the other seeker get that golden ball. It had to be his, he had to catch it. He reached out his hand. he closed it around the snitch. "Yes! I got it!" He held it up for all to see. "I got the snitch!" Since catching the snitch hadn't happened in a long time, he was overjoyed about it even if it was a tie. He didn't quite care, he had caught the snitch!

Charon was loving every second of this game. It was a hard nosed tough fought defensive game on his end. He had completely shut out the Montagnard offense and it was splendid just positively splendid.  He was biting his nails though. Usually their new seeker had caught the snitch at this point, but that was okay as long as he could keep them in the game, but with the rate Cerisier was scoring that did not seem like an issue at all. It seemed like Cerisier was most certainly going to win and sweep the entire season which would be his dream come true.

Rene let out an exhale of relief when Montagnard caught the snitch. At least it was not an entire embarrassment. "Thankfully with a catch of the snitch Montagnard does not have to deal with the embarrassment of being blown out as well as swept by Cerisier. Cerisier's offense was brilliant today and really showed something considering the adverse weather. Unfortunately Montagnard now has to really consider their defense and their offense. Thankfully they have the summer to regroup their team and write to each other over strategy." Rene sighed softly. In his eyes this season was a colossal failure and Montagnard should be embarrassed that they put a team this discombobulated together. "Hopefully next year the cup will return to our house."

When Charon saw Payton had caught the snitch he let out a groan. Really? Really? He helps keep Montagnard from scoring a single goal and what happens? Montagnard gets to catch the snitch and Cerisier gets a tie for all their efforts. He took a deep breath and then exhaled in disappointment. He hung his head in dejection and went off to the Cerisier changing room. He shook his head. They had a winning season with back to back cups, but it wasn't the same considering they hadn't won all three games or at least the last game of the season. He clapped his hands and began to clean out his changing room locker before heading to shower.

Marie-Laure was getting more and more frustrated as the game went on. So far neither she nor the other two chasers had managed to keep hold of the quaffle. She really wanted to yell at the other players to get their heads in the game but with her own poor performance she was hardly in the position to do that. She snarled as she missed the goal again. "Come on Payton," she shouted, "end this painful game." That was what it was. Painful beyond belief and she wanted to win so badly but once Cerisier reached 150 points and Montagnard still couldn't score a goal to save themselves the best they could hope for was a draw.

And then it happened. Payton finally showed he was still capable of catching a snitch. "Finally," she grumbled as she lowered her broom downwards. Once she and the rest of the team were on the ground she said, "next year we'll be trying new tactics. Make sure you think of something over the summer and I'll do the same." Next year they would blitz the pitch and win every game. If they didn't then Marie-Laure had one final year to prove her abilities to lead a team.

Things were looking good for Cerisier. Really good. They could do this. They could pull the three consecutive wins in a single school year. All Stephanie needed to do was catch the snitch and they were there. She could do it. She'd managed every other time so why couldn't she manage that again? She just needed to see it first. And see it she did.

The little witch flattened herself against her broom and flew off after the snitch unaware of the Montagard seeker until it was too late. Stephanie pulled herself up and reminded herself that Cerisier had still won the cup and nothing was going to change that fact. So why did she feel so horrible? It was because she'd failed. Simple as that. Stephanie Henrau had failed to catch the snitch for the first time since she was first awarded the position of seeker and she felt down right awful.
