Inking and Quills Empty Inking and Quills

Post by Guest Wed Mar 06, 2013 4:30 pm

Katie walked into the library with a sleepy expression on her face. She had stayed up late last night to finish off some homework she had for class, and it still wasn't finished! She really shouldn't have spent her free time playing Quidditch and flying around the Pitch in the grounds...

Blinking her eyes awake the redhead, walked over to the shelves piled high with books slowly. Pulling a random one off the shelf that she hoped would help her with some of her work, Katie walked over to a table and sat down.

Groaning as she reached into her bag and pulled out some clean parchment. Reaching in her bag and fumbling for a self-inking quill she moaned when she didn't find any. Looking up the person opposite, who she realised was 'Mund, she smiled, "Hey 'Mund, got a quill or ink going spare?"

Whereas Katie was more likely to be found on the quidditch pitch, Osmund was always in the library. Homework or no homework, the boy always had his nose in a book, reading anything and everything. His report had been finished an hour ago, yet the boy was still in the library browsing shelves for a new read. He pulled a couple from the shelves, and, because old books smelled different but yet just as good as new books, the boy ran his nose across the closed pages.

He hadnt expected anyone to be around and had jumped when he heard the all familiar nickname. "O-oh! Atie!" His face reddened a bit, hoping she hadnt seen. "I've got one somewhere." He set down his book on a table and rummaged his bag for a quill. He had one an hour ago when he had done his essay but yet now he found himself clean of all quills. "Sorry. I had one before." He must have left it on the table or something. "No worried, though. There's bound to be someone else here with one." Osmund stated, looking down the book shelves and already spotting someone else.

Linette's nose was buried deep in her history of magic book. She'd already read through the entire thing at least once. That, however, didn't stop her from reading it through again despite the fact she was in the middle of a library full of books she had not yet read. Nor had she any history homework left to complete. It was more that she'd discovered a love for history she'd never known she had before.

Eventually though she knew she had to close it and look for something to help with herbology. Reluctantly she sat back and closed the book before she stood and moved over the shelves. Linette reached out for a book and pulled it off. It looked useful enough she supposed.

As she turned to move back to the table she looked up and saw Osmund looking in her direction. "Book sniffing again?" she asked with a grin.

Standing up and pretending not to notice the slightly red cheeks, and frowned when she thought what could have cause it, looking around the shelves around the table, she wouldn't dare to ask an older student, they were scary! Not that she would ever tell anyone that, of course. But she was glad when her friend spotted someone and walked over to her.

Listening to the conversation Katie stifled a laugh as she heard Linette talk about Osmund sniffing books, "You sniff books?!" She asked, the sleep very much going from her body as she laughed, with a mischievousness glint in her eyes. She could definitely use that later...

Looking back 'Mund, she muttered at him to move over, "Hey Linette!" She said, smiling at her fellow housemate. "D'ya have a quill and ink I could use? I lost mine and 'Mund doesn't have any because he's being mean!" Shooting a smile back to the boy behind her, to let him know that she was just joking.

Osmund had been caught in an library of all places with the same girl who persisted in outing the truth, Osmund was a book sniffer. His cheeks reddened at her accusation, though the boy tried to play it cool. "I do not know what you are talking about." He wasnt about to let Katie know that. It was bad enough one person knew.

He scoffed at Katie's comment on him being mean. "Obviously If i was trying to be mean, I'd give you a quill to use that was faulty and spits out ink," the boy replied, placing a hand on his hip. He then turned back to face Linette. "So have you got a quill for her so she can shut up?" He bumped his hip playfully against Katie's, hoping to knock her off balance.

"Don't listen to him," Linette replied to Katie. "He knows exactly what I'm talking about." She nodded in the direction of Osmund and grinned. This was becoming quite enjoyable making him feel uncomfortable.

"Hang on. I think I might have some spares in here." With the book she'd pulled off the shelf still in her hand, Linette moved back over to the table her bag was on. "I know I've got something spare in here somewhere. Ah here it is. Spare ink and a spare quill. Tante Patrice would turn out to be right about this." She wrinkled her nose at the thought of that awful old woman being right. "Always make sure you have a spare quill and ink on hand. Personally I think having a book with you at all times is more important."

Katie rolled her eyes and Osmund bumped into her, she stumbled and caught onto the book shelf to make herself stand upright. "I know," She said to the girl and then turned to Osmund "I'll knock you off your broom when I teach you how to fly," the redhead threatened.

Taking the quill and ink, she smiled, "Thanks Linette," Katie said, tucking it in her arms, "but I doubt that I'll carry a quill and ink around, you may as well give me a Bludger!" She laughed at the thought of being organised, if it was in anything but Quidditch.... She just wouldn't.
