Teetering, Tottering Books

Post by Linette Puchard on Mon Mar 04, 2013 6:13 pm

The library of Beauxbatons was everything Linette imagined it'd be and more. Outside of classes she could see this as the place she would spend most of her time and not only working on dull old homework either. Her ambition was to read every single book in the library. The first book she would start with was the one she wanted to buy in the Quidditch shop. The one on the French Quidditch league. The book which brought on some sort of argument over which was better; the French or the English/Irish leagues.

Linette's Charms homework was scattered across the table and due the next day but the Quidditch book was much more interesting than class work. Besides, she was almost finished the essay. That meant she deserved some sort of reward. With that decision made she pulled the Quidditch book out of her bag and began to read. Linette failed to notice she'd pushed her charms books to the edge of the table as she made room for the book.

Walking into the library, Katie frowned, she avoided libraries whenever she could, when there was one, it would mean that she had to sit still, and sitting still meant being bored. In her mind she had it all worked out, but it turned out to be that to actually complete things, you needed to be able to research things and look them up in books!

Spying a table with an empty seat, the redhead made her way towards it and didn't realise as she hit her side into a corner of a Charms textbook which balanced on the edge of a desk. With fast reflexes, she grabbed it before it hit the ground and put it back on the desk, "You should be more careful you know," Katie began, before a smile flickered across her face as she realised who's book it was, "You know, the English/Irish League is still way better."

Linette reluctantly looked up from her book. "Can't I just read about the French league without you giving me your own opinion please? I'm gonna read about that league you think is better some time. However I doubt they'd have any team as interesting as the Quiberon Quafflepunchers." She pointed to the paragraph of the introduction where they were mentioned as the most successfulness team in the league. That however wasn't her reason for finding them interesting. "Have you seen these lot play? I did. Against the Frejus Flyers."

Even if she ever did get the chance to watch an English match Linette didn't believe she'd ever enjoy it as much as she did that one match between the Flyers and the Quafflepunchers. She and her dad wanted the Flyers to win since they were from her hometown. They weren't however the crazy supporters some of the people around them were.

Katie shrugged and pulled a book off the shelf, "Just showing my own opinion," The girl said, looking down at the cover of the book, smiling at the fact they had a history of the Holyhead Harpies in the library made the trip there well worth it. "Holyhead Harpies are the best, no excuses." She smiled at the memory of the last match her father had taken her to, it was against the Wimbourne Wasps, and the Harpies had won, much to her delight.

She nodded her head, "Yeah, I've seen them, although I don't really like French Quidditch, but hey, its Quidditch! They were against one of the English Teams, the Chudley Canons I think. It was a while ago.. Yeah, the Canons lost."

"Your opinion wasn't wanted," Linette argued. "I already know your opinion." As the words poured out of her mouth she decided it was high time she sent an argumentative letter to her brother. Obviously she was missing arguing with him already if she was getting this worked up over Quidditch with a housemate.

Linette shrugged. She had no clue who the Chudley Cannons were. All she knew was the Quafflepunchers were the best team in the French League. The number of games they'd won with their flamboyant style of play were amazing. "I think your Harpies couldn't possibly win against the Quafflepunchers." Not knowing these Harpies any more than she did the Cannons, Linette really had no clue if that were true or not. All she knew was she had to defend the French League against someone's claim of the English League being better. It had to be rubbish because France was the best country in the world to live in. It made sense to her they would also have the best Quidditch players.
