Stark was happy to go home and spend some time with his family and tell Ryan all about Beauxbatons. However by the end of the summer the boy was ready to return to the magnificent palace. It wasn't that he didn't want to spend time with his family, though sometimes Ryan made him think it was, he knew that the palace meant he could not only use but learn more magic. He was sure he wasn't the only young one excited to learn more magic, that was why they were all there right? So Stark had told Ryan that he really couldn't stay because he would never get to be a big wizard like mum and dad, he complained a few more times before finally deciding he wanted his brother to go learn magic and let go of his death grip of a hug.

Once on the carriage the strawberry blonde had found himself a compartment to sit in alone. Last year he was so taken back by the inside being so huge and being an ickle he had tried to force himself into a group of other first years that had taken up a compartment together but that just made for an awkward ride until Stark took it upon himself to leave. They had all started talking once more before he even had the door shut. This year he decided to skip that step and just took up an empty room at the beginning.

After putting his stuff away safely he put Donnie's cage on the seat next to him. Both luckily and unfortunately no one had come by asking to join him by the time he felt them leaving. As they started moving though the cage next to him fell with a clang and the door swung open releasing his snowy owl in the compartment. She was freaking out from hitting the ground and feathers flew everywhere. Just as Stark finally caught her he heard the door open. He was sure he was about to be yell at for the commotion by a prefect or something.

Fane had a seat before the carriage had taken off with a few other students that he didn't really know yet, but after he had dropped a few jokes of dubious appropriateness, they insisted that he left. Fane scowled as he tried to balance, moving from one compartment to another. He wasn't sure where to go and found it a blessing to find a compartment with only one person in it already. One was probably the least amount of people he'd find, so he decided on that one. Besides, the boy inside looked young enough to not be encouraged to protest.

He had hardly entered the compartment when suddenly white filled his vision and his heart raced as he took a step back from the creature that just flew at him. "Well that was a decent welcome," He said, critically and then sat himself down on the feathered covered seat across from the boy. He wasn't even going to ask for permission to stay. "Is that your owl? He...she, is a bit wild, eh?" This was why Fane didn't have any pets. That and after the one time when he was seven and managed to let out his pet hamster and forget about it until he noticed days later that it was gone, his parents no longer trusted him enough to buy him another pet.

"I like your hat," Fane added, starting to get conversational. He really did like it, though. Fedora's weren't usually his style, but seeing the strawberry blonde wearing it made him want to try it on. He reached out a hand and lifted the hat off of the boys head and placed it on his own. "How do I look?"

Once the bird was caught Stark hurriedly placed her back in the cage, but he kept a hand on it to keep it from falling again. He turned around to see who had entered his room already preparing his apology to the prefect. Once the feathers settled to the floor though he couldn't see a badge on the boys chest, nor did he loo old enough to be a prefect. "Sorry about that she was just spooked by the sudden movement." He apologized for his owl and the mess he was met with. When his guest plopped himself down on one of the feather covered seats Stark smiled. "Why don't you join me?" Noting how he just assumed he wouldn't mind his company.

"Thanks." He said with a bright smile at the compliment about his hat. He didn't expect the boy, who was probably a bit older, simply took it off his head. He brushed his strawberry blonde locks into place after they were ruffled by the hats removal. "These hats make everyone look good. But..." He said trailing off long enough to pluck the hat off the boy's head and placed it back on his own. "It looks much better on me. Don't you think so?" He said with a crooked grin.

The boy didn't protest when he sat down, so Fane assumed that it only meant that he was welcome. He was glad that someone had decent enough taste to not kick him out, much unlike the previous group he had been with had done to him. He decided then that there was something decent about this boy.

The hat had been on his head for only moments, hardly enough time for Fane to spot his reflection in the glass of the compartment, before the boy reclaimed his hat. Fane smoothed out his long bangs. "I suppose. After all, my hair is nearly a hat in it's own," Fane replied.

"So do you have a name? Or should I just call you the kid with a hat? Are you going to wear that even once your in school. I think that's against the uniform, but so are these and I wear them anyway," Fane relayed, and then held out his gloved hands for the boy to see. They had skeleton hands printed on the backs of them and the fingers cut off at a certain point. He was quite proud of them. And even more so when he was asked to take them off, obeyed, and then turned a corner and put them right back on.

His new companion did seem to mind the mess in the compartment and hadn't left yet and Stark took that as a good sign. It wasn't much fun riding to the palace alone the whole time so he was more than happy to have someone with him, even if they were a hat thief. He giggled at his comment about his hair being a hat, "Hair can't be a hat, but I suppose its similar. Never thought of it like that." He said thinking about hair kind of being a hat a moment. "I could get you one like this." He said pointing to the black hat back on his head. "It's just this...this one is my favorite." He said a bit shyly, he was used to people thinking his hats silly and having a favorite when they all look so similar even sillier.

"I've had worse nicknames." He said with a small smile taking his seat again next to Donnie. "But my name is Stark, Stark Green. And who might you be glove boy." He said with a tiny smile playing off his nickname and his hat. "I only wear these when we are allowed to wear casual clothes, like weekends and stuff. Do you wear those all the time, even during classes?" He asked incredulity.

Fane was smoothing out his hair, after the removal of the hat had messed it up some. He was rather indifferent about the hat, thinking it actually looked good on the other boy, but not caring to wear hats himself. However, he was surprised with the offer presented to him so that his eyebrows arched. "You'd get me a hat of my own?" Fane was used to getting everything he wanted, whenever he wanted, and was very much spoiled. However, he was used to being spoiled by his family and had never received anything from his so called 'friends.' The notion of a gift from a new faced stranger was foreign to him. "What's the catch?" Fane found himself asking, still incredulous with the boy's generosity. People didn't just give him things for free. They always expected something return. This is what Fane knew.

The short boy chuckled in amusement at the stranger, whom he learned to be called Stark, comments. "Glove Boy sounds like some sort of daft super hero from a comic book," He noted, laughed a bit more, then sat up in his seat, extended a hand, and gave a more proper greeting. "They call me Fane, Fane Blevins." He gave a look that showed he expected some sort of awed reaction from the boy upon hearing his name, like he usually did.

He was even more amused by the surprise in Stark's face with the glove story. The corner of his mouth pulling up even further, Fane gave his answer. "Of course! How else am I supposed to be a nuisance if I only wear the gloves when I am allowed to?"

Stark was fixing his hat so that it sat farther back on his head, like he liked it so that the front of his strawberry blonde locks showed more. He wasn't used to people like his hats so if this boy really did like it he would definitely get him one like it. He smiled when the boy ask if he would like he needed to know for sure because his word wasn't enough. "Of course." He answered cheerfully. He felt a tiny bit offended though when he asked what the catch was. "Why would there be a catch? Why would I offer to get you something if I wasn't going to follow through with the offer? If you don't want one then just say no." He said shyly unsure as to why he was questioning his sincerity in the offer.

He giggled a bit when he said glove boy sounded like a daft superhero. "Yeah it kinda does." He said with a tiny smile. "Fane is a cool name. It sounds like rain and its so unique. It's amazing to meet you Fane." He answered and reached out to take his extended hand for a moment before sitting back. "Why would you purposely be a nuisance? Would that get you detention of something? That's against the rules and not a good idea right?" He asked as if completely floored by the idea of wanting to break the rules.

Fane didn't believe it. No one ever just handed something to him and certainly not a perfect stranger. He gaped for a moment at the offended look on the boy's face, as if it was odd for him to question such things, and was about to argue his point when he suddenly realized it would be in vain. After all, there was no harm in a boy promising him a hat only to forget later on, which Fane was sure to happen. The boy was probably just trying to make friends, though Fane would be somewhat disappointed if his new friend did forget his present. It was no matter though and certainly not anything he wouldn't be able to handle.

"And your name is a bird," he replied grinning somewhat in Stark's contagious enthusiasm. He made it seem like a miracle, or something as great, to meet him. The boy was so genuine and for once Fane was starting to feel that he liked someone not because of what they could provide for him, but because he genuinely liked their personality. However, the underclassman was uneased, or at least surprised by the notion of rule breaking. Fane smiled and shook his head gently at the sweet naive boy. "Why because it's fun, of course! And how else am I going to get put in the history books if not for being a troublemaker? Okay, maybe not in the history books, but maybe they'll make a wizard card out of me!" Fane mused. "You honestly have never done anything against the rules? It's fun! You should join me sometime," he offered, almost feeling bad for spoiling the innocent boy. He was sure though that he was opening up his eyes to something amazing and therefore doing him a favor.

Stark smiled sweetly when his new ftiend stopped accusing him of not genuinely offering to get him a hat. The boy didn't like arguing and especially not with a new friend so he was more than happy to find the boy had no more to say against the offer. "Do you want yours to be like this one?" He asked pointing at his plain black one on his head. Stark wanted to be sure he got the right color or with or without a different color band around it, there was nothing worse than getting a hat that wasn't right for you.

He giggled at his new friends comment about him being a bird. "No silly that's a stork not a Stark." He corrected him with a small smile. He shook his head at Fane's riduclous questions. No one had ever ask him that, let alone make him feel like a weirdo for not doing those things. "If I was in charge if the wizard cards I'd make one of you." He said with a giggle. "Join you in breaking rules? I don't know we might get detention and the people in detention aren't very nice." He answered shyly.

"Surprise me," Fane replied and grinned. He didn't care what the hat looked like. He didn't even care so much for a hat as much as he cared about the idea of someone getting him a present and when it wasn't a gift giving holiday too! He would be happy with anything.

Ignoring the comment that he was incorrect about the bird thing, Fane was more focused on getting Stark to agree to join him on one of his misadventures. The boy seemed a bit nervous about the idea, but he seemed like an alright kid and one that wouldn't squeal him. He just wasn't used to the ideas presented to him.

"Well Mr. Green, you are looking at a frequent flyer of detention right here and I seem alright, don't I?" Fane started, raising an eyebrow and wondering if this new information about him would change Stark's opinions of him. "And let me tell you, if we land in detention and someone is messing with you, I'll take care of them." A hand landed on Stark's shoulder. "I've got your back."
