It was a new year, the weather was warm. There were new captains and Professor Bowen was looking forward to see how they did in their first game as captain. As the professor walked onto the field, she took in the cheery atmosphere. Students filled the stands, ready to watch the first game of the quidditch season. The professor thought the students would be hesitant of the new captains, but each side had homemade signs that read the captains names. She smiled at the students, it was great that they were giving the new captains a chance.

"Okay, I want you guys to be on your best behaviors," she said to the new captains. "Good luck, do your best. Now shake hands." She blew the whistle to signal the beginning of the game. "Good luck," she called to both team as she released the balls.

Ever since it was announced last year that Quinn was to succeed his brother-like cousin as team Captain, Quinn had bee anticipating this moment. His first ever quidditch game on the team was once considered thrilling to him, but nothing gave him the determination to succeed like knowing that he was the leader and that everything was up to him. He had been practicing more on his own to make sure he was ready for the big day and found that when it had finally come, his stomach tickled of nervous butterflies as he took to the pitch. He would've given anything to have Chris there, watching his first game, just as he had when Chris finally made it on the Frejus Flyers. His cousin inspired him greatly, but so did the posters with his name on it in the stands.

"Good luck," He said, sportsman-like as his sweaty hand gripped Marie-Laure. Only fate would have it that his rival would so happen to become team captain the year he did as well. "Guess we will find out who is the best this year, huh?" He joked. Between captainship and their OWLs, they really would.

He flew into position and locked his eyes towards where he knew the quaffle would be realized. He almost fell off his broom as soon as he heard the whistle shriek as he sped forward towards the quaffle. Rats, he thought, watching a red-purple fly away with the quaffle.

Caleb was positively cheery because not only was his cousin the new Montagnard beater, his best friend was the captain of Cerisier. How exciting was that? He was very proud of both his cousin and best friend. He whistled a tune as he watched the game begin, he smiled at the homemade signs the houses had made. "Great job with the signs, guys. They're great! Good luck to both teams, I'm sure you have wonderful captains." He knew Quinn was wonderful, but he didn't know Marie-Laure all that much to know if she was wonderful or not.

"It's a new year and there's new captains. Let's hope that they live up to the old captains. But I'm sure both will do great. There's also new players, my cousin being one of them. There's also a new announcer who is beside me. Lot's of new people." He grinned. "Be careful Quinn," he said as he watched his best friend. "And good luck!"

Mabel knew that she was going to get the beater position, it had her name written all over it. The game had hardly began and she was already called out by her cousin, but she didn't mind all too much. She wasn't embarrassed by her cousin and his wacky nature, she always liked that about him. Since she was new to the whole quidditch thing, she had gotten a little help from the other beater on the team. She was a bit nervous because it was her first game, but she was mostly excited.

She held onto he bat tightly and watched a player on her team grab the quaffle. She hit a bludger, the first time that game. She was proud that she sent it flying, she silently cheered to herself. She grinned when one of the chasers on her team scored, she didn't care who won. She just cared that she did her job.

Payton wasn't sure if he was going to like Marie-Laure being the team captain, but he would continue to do his best. Even though he hadn't caught the snitch recently, he was still trying his best. But he didn't appreciate when Marie-Laure got mad at him for not catching the snitch, he was trying his best and he didn't get mad when she didn't score. He knew that his job was important, but he could only do so much. He would never express this out loud, so he just kept it to himself.

He took to the sky when the whistle was blow and kept his eye open for the snitch. He was going to try his best and he was going to let it be known that he did try his best He gave a silent cheer when Montagnard was the first to score, maybe things will change and he'll catch the snitch this time.

Marie-Laure was determined that this year her team would win. If they thought Osmund Hollow had been a hard taskmaster they would find Marie-Laure doubly so. She'd already made that much clear in the practices they'd had. "I expect nothing less than your best," she told her team before the game. And she would know if someone was doing less than their best. It was something she expect of herself and something she also expected of her team.

"Luck's got nothing to do with it," she replied to Quinn as she shook his hand. "And yes we will won't we?" She would put her all into making sure it was her team and not his which was shown to be the best.

Already one of her chasers had managed to snatch the quaffle away from Quinn. Good. Very good. The score on the board pleased her even more. Her focus was completely on the quaffle and the scoring. Later when she had a moment or two she would check on the rest of her team. She would know simply by whether or not she had to dodge bludgers or Cerisier managed to score. Speaking of scoring she also managed to add to the score board.

Last year Stephanie had managed to catch the snitch every single game. Now she felt the pressure on to perform yet again. Could she do it a fourth time in a row? Her hand gripped her new broom tightly and hoped so. The whistle blew and she was up in the air ready to fly after the snitch and catch it the moment she saw it. She could do it. She knew she could. Stephanie bit her lip as she shot a look at the other seeker and wondered if he was determined too after missing it every time last year?

So far it looked like the game would go Montagnard's way but Stephanie knew now that the scores didn't really mean much at this point of the game. The worry would be if Montagnard got up toward 150 points ahead of Cerisier. Then she really would have to catch the snitch. Preferably before it got to the point when it would be a draw. Finally though one of the chasers had scored.

Another year another match. Everything seemed different, yet the same. For one all the captain's were new, the opposing team being lead by one of her best friends. There were new players on each team and even a new announcer. The pressure was on for everyone, the seekers were all surely feeling the pressure, the new captains had a lot on their shoulders, the new team mates wanted to live up the teams past record, and Paige felt she needed to play twice as hard now that she was the oldest beater on her team. She had already given the new beater a personal session of training.

The whistle was blown and everyone was off, the small blonde took off and stated scouting out the nearest bludger. She smiled wen she saw their new beater hit her first bludger, it didn't actually hit anyone but it was still a great effort. The game went on with many more failed efforts to hit the players from both teams beaters. Montagnard was now in the lead by one score but Paige was determined to help them stay ahead. She noticed Cerisier with the quaffle again quickly smacked a bludger at the one with the ball. She cheered to herself when she saw the blue and green clad player fall, she didn't stick around long enough to see if they recovered and returned to the sky.

Quentin grinned as he heard his best mate over the commentary rooting for him. He waved in Caleb's general direction before getting his head back in the game. There was no way he was going to let Cerisier lose this year. Not with Marie-Laure as his main competition.

Though Cerisier team had a rough beginning, thanks to their slightly baffled team captain, Quinn finally got into the rhythm and scored a goal, matching the score with Montagnard. He proudly did one of his celebratory loops and then flew to receive the ball again, aiming to steal it from a Montagnard. However, once the quaffle was in his hands, it didn't stay there for long. Within moments of catching the quaffle, he felt a searing pain in the back of his shoulder and all breath knocked from his chest. The quaffle dropped from his grip and suddenly the ground was drifting towards him.

Quinn had gotten hit by a bludger before, nearly anyone who had been on the Quidditch team before had, but never had he actually fallen off of his broom because of it. He couldn't help but feel somewhat of a dread from being knocked out during his first game as captain, but the feeling only lasted while Quinn was conscious, for soon the blue-haired boy succumbed to blackness.

Fane fixed his hair and adjusted his seat in the tower above the Quidditch pitch. Whoever had left the chair had been somewhat taller than him and he simply couldn't see without cranking it up some. He took a gulp of water in preparation as Caleb started for him and waited for the blonde to finish before speaking up. "The sun is shinning! The owls are flying! There is this lingering smell of human sweat in the air, which can only mean one thing; it's time for a quidditch match!" Fane started his own part, after Caleb introduced the new players and new captains that year. Fane, however, believed in putting some more pizaze in it. "Honestly, do the teams even wash their uniforms like ever? Maybe playing quidditch requires a tampered sense of smell," Fane started.

"Wow, would you look at that? It's better than reading a book. The game has hardly started and already I am catching a draft of extreme tension between the two captains. Do I sense some flirting going on down there? C'mon guys! Save it for the changing rooms!" Fane was besides himself with glee. How fun announcing was! And everyone was such easy targets to his jokes.

He paused to let his eyes wander the pitch and grinned widely as he spotted a familiar face. "Mabel Miller as a beater? Who did she have to kill to get that position? Bet she loves to get cheered on to hit people with a hard ball." He snorted at his own joke, then watched as bludgers flew. He was in mid-gulp of water when he saw the new captain get hit right out of the sky.

"Merlin's shorts! Did you see that? Beater Fairy Princess totally just knocked out Captain Smurf!" Fane announced, adding nicknames to the game. It was more fun than saying last names, after all. "Looks like that hit really took his breath away!" He joked.

Quinn was Caleb's best friend and seeing him get hit and fall almost brought Caleb to tears. Of course he knew that he'd be okay, but he couldn't help but worry about him. "Oh no," he whispered as he watched the scene happen before his eyes. He had to stay where he was, but he had to fight the urge to get up and start yelling and crying. He wasn't mad at Paige, it was her job to hit people. He was sure she was upset that she had hit him, right? They were friends after all. "Um, yeah, Quinn's out," he tried to stay calm. He clasped his shaking hands together to try to get them to stop shaking. "I hope he's okay," he said more to himself than to the crowd of people.

He cleared his throat and put on his best smile. "Um, the score is tied," he noted. "That hit gave Montagnard the perfect chance to get the quaffle." His voice squeaked a bit and he had to take a sip of water so his voice would be normal again. He tried his best to pay attention, but his thoughts were all about Quinn and it was hard to focus on anything but him.

Mabel rolled her eyes at the comment about her, no way was she going to let him bother her. Part of his comment was sort of true, the reason she did try out for beater was to hit people without getting into any trouble. There would be no other reason why she would even waste her time on the sport. Hitting people without getting in trouble would have to be the greatest thing, it being her job made it even better.

She had to smirk a bit when the Cerisier captain fell to the ground, but her cousin's reaction made her stop. He was probably going to be freaked out and worried the whole game. Things were bound to get interesting since the Cerisier captain fell, maybe the rest of the team would drop like flies too. So she sent another bludger towards a blue and green player.

Trent saw Quinn fall to the ground and his eyes narrowed so greatly that he assumed he must have looked as insane as a prisoner. He scooped up a quaffle straight through a Montagnard advance and kept zooming forward as fast as his broom would allow. However, to him the moment was slow. He winded up his arm feeling the groove of the ball with the tips of his fingers. Then, he whirled the ball as hard as he could. He grinned as he watched the ball soar right into the Montagnard goal. He grinned brightly. He'd scored his first goal in his first game! He was so proud of himself and he really hoped Guen was proud of him too.

With one of Cerisier's chasers gone, Montagnard was at an advantage because they had more chasers. Things would probably still depend on who caught the snitch and Payton was very determined to find that little gold ball. He wasn't doing well though, his focus wasn't great and he'd lose his focus. He had a lot on his mind and it was hard to clear it all from his brain. He sighed and focused on the game. He knew Cerisier was now ahead and that the snitch was no where in his view.

Finally Montagnard scored once again which made the score even once again. "We can do it!" he yelled to his teammates. Then, as if someone was actually listening to him, Montagnard scored once more. They were now ahead by ten points, but it was better than being behind or tied.

Paige hadn't payed much attention to who she was hitting the bludger at, all she knew was that they were wearing blue and green, she was so focused on her job that she didn't think about who she was actually hitting. Even after sending the bludger at the player she took off for another bludger too fast to see if the person recovered and returned to the air. It wasn't until she heard the new announcer exclaim that 'Beater Fairy Princess', who she assumed was herself, had knocked out 'Captain Smurf'. She had no idea what a smurf was but there was only one captain that she couldn't knocked out, and sure enough when she whorled around it was Quinn that was falling. She jerked forward about to go to him but she didn't, she had to remind herself that Monsieur Avery would take care of him and it was her job and she had to stay in the game for her team.

She felt even worse when she heard Caleb freaking out over the intercom. She pushed it out of her mind and smack another bludger towards another player. Paige was happy to see her team was starting to take the lead, she was sure part of it was due to her help getting rid of one of the chasers.

Marie-Laure grimaced as she heard the lasted announcer speak. Apparently there was no escaping at least one announcer who couldn't announce sensibly. It was almost like he'd taken lessons from the one who'd graduated. She gritted her teeth at his implying that she and Quinn were flirting. Why on earth couldn't these announcers grow a few brains? She was just going to have to shut out his annoying voice and focus on playing as well as she could. Better than that.

Then came the shock as her opposing captain was hit by a bludger and now falling. She had to remind herself that there were professors out here more than capable of getting him down safely. Marie-Laure had a game to focus on but it was just that little bit harder to stay competitive when her main competition had been taken out of the game. If Montagnard won he was bound to say that it was because he was taken out early. She gritted her teeth again and then yelled at her team, "DON'T GET DISTRACTED. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK." With that she managed to score another goal.

Stephie gasped as her captain was hit and fell from his broom. Would the professors be able save him from falling hard with their magic? She knew by now that the older you were the stronger your magic. She was so mesmerised by what happened to Quinn it took her some time to realise where her head should be. She gripped her broom tighter. She needed to find that snitch for their new captain.

The further the game went on and Stephanie was no closer to finding that sntich. Thankfully, neither was Montagnard's seeker and Stephanie hoped it stayed that way. She had to find this snitch and catch it yet again. Four times running would prove it was more than a fluke wouldn't it? She hoped so 'cause she so wanted to be good at something in this school. Classes weren't so good except for the music class. That was the only other place she excelled in.

Another ding singalled her need to get her head back into the game. She scanned the pitch again and then gasped as she caught sight of the snitch. She leaned down against her broomstick and flew as fast as she could. Which apparently was much faster than the old school broom she'd used last year. One hand was lifted off the broom and soon it was around the snitch. Stephanie Henrau had done it again. She held the snitch above the head and thought how pleased her injured captain about this win.

Trent was having so much fun. Cerisier was losing, but it was the most fun experience he had ever had. The chance to play in a real full speed game was awesome. He heard some rabid applause and looked over to the stands. Everyone in Cerisier was on the feet in ruckus applause while dejected Montagnard fans began to file out of the stands. Then, his eyes flicked over to their seeker his hear beating fast in his chest. He spied a gold ball in her hand that confirmed it. Cerisier had won the match! They had performed brilliantly and without a captain and down one seeker. It was a good feeling, actually it was a great feeling.

Charon was having a rocky game. With Quinn down the defense from their chasers was slipping greatly. He felt like he was working triple time. There needed to be someone to speak up, since Quinn obviously could not. "Come on guys! I need you two to guard the middle lane. Stop trying to stray so far away for goals. We need to lock this down. Just because Quinn is down does not mean our defense has to fall. It's on me too, but we need to cover the most area with less guys. Zone defense, come on guys! This is our chance to make a big statement." Charon was fired up and heavily into the chance of proving himself worthy to be Quinn's second in command.

Caleb had gotten quiet, which Fane didn't immediately notice the disturbance in his fellow announcer until the boy spoke and sounded weird. Fane looked over at the blonde, half-expecting to see tears. Caleb didn't look too far off from crying. "Hey, can someone check D'Angelo's pulse before his boyfriend over here starts crying?" Fane remarked.

Cerisier was now at a disadvantage, and as a fellow Cerisier and a fan, Fane was a bit worried for his team. Nonetheless, he was just an announcer and announcing was all he could do. "Captain Freckles takes no chances and is yelling questionably encouraging words. Not exactly quite the cheerleader Montagnard's seeker is, but she was trained by the crankiest, Osmund Hollow," Fane noted. Montagnard had all of their chasers and were currently outscoring Cerisier. Cerisier needed a miracle and lo and behold, they got one.

Fane punched the air in celebration and then remembered he had an announcement to make. "That's it! Seeker Henrau has caught the snitch! And without the aid of a captain and down one valuable chaser, Cerisier has won the match. Proving that perhaps Cerisier is by far the better team," Fane remarked, his smile only getting bigger when he saw Bowen motion to him that that was too far. He shrugged and then made a notion that he was sorry. He wasn't. He loved Cerisier.
