Pertinent Possibilities Empty Pertinent Possibilities

"Come along now, Mon Cerise. We are almost to the alley." Gaspard urged, his daughter's hand held firmly in his grasp. Caroline had an emergency to attend to in her shop that day and although both never visited as often as Caroline did, they weren't strangers to the world of magic, nor the place they currently were squeezing through. Yet they had only ever seen La Petit Dragon in its solitude and occasional visitors with one or two children.

One, two, three, four, five...! Although Rose was well aware of it in theory, she never knew the abundance of children just like her with special abilities for special places. She smoothed down the yellow sundress she had insisted on wearing and held her head high, though the image of dignity, pride, and grace she wished to convey was quickly eradicated as she struggled to catch up with her Papa who leisurely made his way to the Alley. It was very hard for Rose to keep her eye on Gaspard. The young girl was always looking this way and that, eyes shining in excitement at all her potential classmates and friends. They passed a group huddled in a secretive, yet promising stance and Rose had to fight back the urge to insert herself there.

Once she remembered she ought to be following her Papa, he was no longer there and Rose feared he had went on ahead to the Alley without noticing she was no longer in his tail. "Oh dear!" she exclaimed to herself, flagging down the nearest person whose eye she could catch. "Hey! Hey you! Excuse me! Have you seen this old man with a bald spot at the back of his head?" Her father had been wearing the most embarrassingly unfashionable clothes a spouse to a dressmaker could wear. "He's about this tall," Rose continued, standing on her tiptoes and stretching her hand the highest it could reach, "And the little hair that he has is blonde..."

This was the final year of coming into Paris and in particular Amethyst Alley for shopping. And the final year, Linette hoped, of making do with second hand goods wherever she could get them. Next year she would only have herself to look after and that meant all the money for herself. A decent job which paid well and Linette was convinced she would have something better than her father had.

Of course there were things she would miss like announcing Quidditch, leading Student Organised Press and even her prefect badge. The last maybe not quite as much as the other two because it did hamper her little with the things she could or could not do. The exams coming up at the end of the year she would not think about at this moment in time. Linette would do well in those anyway or at least, with the amount she read, very well in the theory side of classes.

She hadn't gotten very far into the pub when she caught the eye of a much younger girl. "Missing person. Hmm. I can't say I have seen anyone matching that description. I've only just arrived myself. Now when did you last see him? Any ideas where he was headed?"
