Getting Your Letter Empty Getting Your Letter

Post by Minister Asgard Mon Jan 21, 2013 10:37 pm

Write a post role playing your character getting their letter and their reaction. If you are a newly registered student who has registered as any grade other than first year, post about the memory of your student getting their letter, rather than receiving another letter. Transfer students will role play getting an acceptance letter, much like a first year, but with the correct grade school supplies.

100 word min - no max

The rules on roleplaying in third person start now

YOU MUST WAIT UNTIL THERE IS A MINISTERS COMMENT ON YOUR POST BEFORE POSTING IN THE OTHER FORUMS NO EXCEPTIONS

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Osmund Hollow Sat Mar 02, 2013 5:42 pm

There was a tapping noise that could be heard faintly over the tune playing from his muggle speakers. As much as he despised the odd technology of the muggles, Osmund had to admit that at least CD's were decent. They were much better than the wireless he had back at his old home, that would only play the wizarding world's greatest hits, which were of questionable taste. He doubted he could stand one more round of "Polyjuice Potion Love," without going completely bonkers. But over the sound of a muggle band Osmund had come to like, the tapping insisted.

At first he assumed it was his mother. "What!?" Osmund shouted above the noise, still lounging in his chair and feeling too unmotivated to move. However, no voice replied to his calls, but instead there was yet more tapping. "Come in!" He shouted louder, but evidently it was to no avail. With a groan, he got up, turned the knob on the volume down a bit and opened the door. "Helena?" Osmund called to his mother, the only other inhabitant in their apartment. He knew how much it drove his mother crazy when he called her by her first name and so that's why he did it. Though yet again he came up blank. No one was in the hallway or remotely close enough to be tapping on his door, yet he still heard tapping.

Giving up and about to return to his seat, the boy turned around to face the source of the noise. A barn owl stood on his window pane, tapping to be let in. His brow eased, the closest example of excitement he could show as he headed over. Maybe it was a letter from his father? He had told the admirable man about yet another accidental flurry of magic that proved that he was indeed a wizard. He was hoping for some praise from his father, but none came for the letter wasn't from Archibald. It was from Beauxbaton. "Beauxbaton?" Osmund repeated. This was good. This was better then sleep levitating his goldfish's bowl. His father would be so proud to see his son accepted to such a prestigious school and he was determined to get grades that'd make him so proud he'd want to bring Osmund home to show him off like a fine trophy everywhere he went. This was excellent.

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Linette Puchard Sat Mar 02, 2013 9:17 pm

Linette loved the beach. The combination of the beach and re-reading her favourite book was even better. The section of beach she was in had been warded from muggles to give any wizarding families living in the area privacy from prying eyes. Therefore the arrival of an owl who landed directly in front of Linette did not raise any eyebrows from the few others scattered around her.

The eleven year old on the other hand did jump in surprise. She'd recently received a letter from her younger sister and didn't expect any owls to send her mail. That was until she remembered what day it was. Linette placed the bookmark back in her book with the greatest of care before taking the letter from the owl.

It was difficult to contain her excitement as she held the sealed letter between trembling fingers. It was here. It was finally here. This would prove to Benoit that he was wrong. She wouldn't receive a Durmstrang letter. Witches living in France didn't receive letters from that horrid school in the cold, icy north. She told him and now she had the proof.

She eventually opened it and read through it quickly. "Yes!" she shouted and jumped up to run back home and only just remembered in time to pick up her discarded book. Daddy was going to love this news and should be home from work by now.

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Quentin D'Angelo Sat Jul 06, 2013 12:15 pm

As Quentin made his way down the hallway to the kitchen, he rubbed his sleepy eyes and yawned, only half awake. He never kept an alarm to wake him up because he hated the sound that he had made, but seeing the time on the old grandfather clock in the corner, he was sort of regretting that.

"You overslept, stupid-head!" His little sister said, grinning in a way that showed she didn't mean the insult at all. Quentin ruffled her hair as he passed her by and took a seat at the table where a very-much picked over breakfast waited for him. He grabbed a plate and began to chow down when he noticed his sister was still sitting there and grinning like she had a juicy secret.

"What?" He asked threw a mouthful of eggs. She giggled. "What!?" He repeated with more interest. She smiled spitefully and then produced something from her pocket, crumpled but unopened. Quentin wasted no time in taking it from her and hastily opened it. "Alright!" He exclaimed, not even having to read through the whole letter to know what it meant. "I'm gonna go tell father!" He practically knocked over his chair getting up and running to the study where his father usually perched.

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Ryan Green Sat Feb 15, 2014 1:34 pm

Ever since his older brother was accepted into Beauxbatons, Ryan wanted his. He couldn't wait to join his brother and spend time with him, but it was school and school was boring. He wasn't excited about that part but he couldn't wait to finally go, maybe it wouldn't be so bad. He didn't care if he made friends or not, as long as he had his brother he was okay.

He woke up early that day, he knew that his letter would come today. He just knew it, this was around the time Stark got his letter. He hurried down the stairs, taking two at a time, and ran into the kitchen. "Has it come yet?" he asked his parents. He spotted the powder blue envelope on the table, his parents grinned at him. "STARK! I'M COMING TO BEAUXBATONS!" he yelled so his sleeping brother would hear him, he ran upstairs to his brother's room.

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Harley Fenwick Sat Feb 15, 2014 4:47 pm

“Hey, Eli! Where did you say you put the mangoes again?” Harley shouted with her head buried in the refrigerator. When there was no reply, she looked up. He was nowhere to be seen, and Elijah was always somewhere around the house.

She hurried over to the intercom that linked to every room in the house.
“Elijah?” she said. There was no reply. She started to get nervous. What if he left her just like her real parents did? She was now running around the house looking for him, becoming frantic trying to find Elijah. Out of nowhere, a tanned hand grabbed her arm.

She spun around in surprise before gasping, “Eli!” She hugged him before saying, “I thought you left!” He chuckled that low, hearty way he always did when he was amused with her antics. “No, I was just getting the mail,” he informed her. She was curious now; they had always had mail delivered to the doorstep so he didn’t have to leave.

“What mail?” she asked him. He turned around with a powder blue coloured envelope resting in his hand, saying, “It’s a special letter.”

She quickly snatched it from his hand and read the back. “Beauxbatons? Isn’t that the school you were always talking about? A special school for wizards?” He nodded before smiling and saying, “Harley, you’re going to Beauxbatons.”

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Malachi St. Holmes Sat Feb 15, 2014 7:48 pm

It wasn't often that Malachi received mail. He didn't really have friends to correspond with, but occasionally his uncle or grandmother wrote him, asking of his well-being. It was because of that fact that Kai was rather baffled by the powder blue envelope addressed to him, and also rather intrigued.

Forgetting the rest of the mail in the mail box, Malachi returned to his apartment, eager to rip open the letter and discover the mysterious contents. His Mum requested the mail, but he didn't hear her and rather sat down in a chair at the kitchen table and dug his fingernail beneath the blue paper.

"What's that?" The woman questioned, walking towyards her son's side and drying her hands. "Is that all the mail we got today?" She requested again.

"It's a letter," Kai replied, stating the obvious. His eyes skimmed the top of the paper, adorned with a crest. It was from school. "From Beauxbatons?" He questioned.

"Right! Excellent! We have been waiting on that! Did you get in?" The mother asked, giving Kai a patronizing pat on the shoulder. Malachi nodded and smiled. He knew how much it meant to get into that school.

"Sorry, I forgot the rest." But his mother wasn't listening. Instead she called out to her husband to tell him the news. Malachi smiled gently. The new school should be fun, right? At least then he'd be with people like himself and maybe that would mean he wouldn't feel so secluded.

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Lucie Banken Sat Aug 02, 2014 3:00 pm

Lucie walked slowly home from school, chattering with her best friend, Meral.  She had no idea what was to await her at home.  Her only problems at that moment were her older brother flying past her on his bike and almost bowling the girls over and the homework weighing her down.  She waved Meral goodbye as she walked up the steps of her home and entered the front entry, almost tripping over her brother's bike. "Owen," she shouted, "move your bike."

No sound of protest came from him but grandma did say something and she was half afraid she would in trouble for yelling in the house.  "Lucie would you come in here please?"

She entered the sitting room ready to defend herself against her actions but was surprised when instead she was handed a letter.  Her brow wrinkled as she opened and read it.  "But grandma..." she began.

"It's genuine," her grandmother replied, "I've had it confirmed."

"G...g...genuine?" she stammered, "but this says I'm going to a school where I'll be learning how to do magic."  Sure she knew sometimes odd things happened around her but Lucie thought there was an explanation yet unknown.  She wanted to believe that rather than be what her brothers accused her of being.  A freak.

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Autumn Krischstein Sun Sep 07, 2014 12:45 am

Something was off about today, Autumn had decided. She had gone through her daily routine: wake up, get dressed, brush teeth, choke down breakfast with disgusting toothpaste flavor still in her mouth, went to academy, and then came home. Her life wasn’t exciting, but it was stable, and it was just the way she liked it.

When she had come home, both of her parents were sitting at her kitchen table. Autumn’s father usually worked until eight thirty, so it was odd to see him home at four. Her first thought was he lost his job. But her parents were smiling nervously.

Autumn hesitated. She could just grab a granola bar and start her homework (math first, always). Or she could ask and ruin the rest of her day if it was something truly bad and the uncomfortable smiles were an attempt to keep her calm. So she muttered a hello to her mother and father, kissed her 5-month-old sister on the forehead, and grabbed a chocolate chip granola bar from the pantry.

Just as she was about to leave the kitchen, her mother called her name. “Autumn, wait.”

Then her father spoke up. “Yes. Have a seat.”

Autumn took a deep breath. “Okay,” she agreed.

She walked as slowly as possible to the table. She was tense as she pulled a chair out from under the table. She sat down and scooted up, listening to the sound of the chair legs scraping against the uneven linoleum beneath it. She automatically looked down at her hands, as if she were in trouble. “What’s wrong?” she asked in a small voice.

“Nothing is wrong, Autumn,” he father answered. “We just have to explain a few things to you.”

He handed her a blue envelope with her name written on it, already opened. “What is this?” she asked.

Go ahead and read it,” her mother encouraged.

She pulled the letter out carefully. It was thick, blue cardstock, so she assumed it was important.

Miss Autumn Armstrong,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. Sessions will start on

Autumn giggled. “Good one. You had me all worked up as a joke.”

Her mother looked at her father. “It’s not a joke, Autumn,’ he said seriously.

Autumn blinked once. “Stop messing around. I have to do my homework.”

“Autumn, he’s not joking. You are a witch,” her mother assured.

“I thought we were Catholic,” Autumn said, confused at the sudden change of tone. Normally her parents were goofy and talkative. But now, they had stress lines in their foreheads and looked just as tense as she had been when she had first come into the kitchen. She was finding it hard to take her parents words as a simple joke.

Her father shook his head. “You are a witch, and I am a wizard.”

“We aren’t Catholic?” she asked. Her parents laughed, though Autumn wasn't quite sure why.

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Julie-Pierre Krischstein Mon Sep 08, 2014 10:32 pm

"Boy, get down here!" The all too familiar sound of his roaring father bellowed through the halls of his house, jolting the red-head from his laying state of bliss. With hair left dyed in an unnatural dark red, irises blue with a hint of hazel, the young male looked out to see that the sun was rather high. Had he... overslept!?

Curses quickly ran through his head as Julie-Pierre scampered out of bed, instinctively afterwards looking back and quickly making his bed, making it beautiful to the point of bear sparkling. That at least made it look decent after his frantic awakening. Now he needed to change. He was still in some rather comfortable, albeit feminine, pyjamas from the night before. Oh, well, it was never much of a bother to him.

As he tidied what else of a mess that was within his quarters, he wondered why his father sounded off. There was a ring to it that wasn't normal, and it had the boy more concerned than anything. He was a little frightened on what the possibilities could be, but now didn't seem to be the time for that. His thoughts were quickly interrupted by a booming "Get down here, you little ninny!" from his father, the insult only meant to push his buttons in the boy's eyes.

Eventually, he made his way hurriedly down the steps of his abode. His parents, both beautiful yet stern-looking, stood before him, smiles surprising wide on their lips today.

"Little Pierre, my little church," his mother cooed him, as normal as she would before delivering what was typically good news. "Do you know what day it is?"

Julie-Pierre raised a brow in confusion, his young face beaming with curiosity despite the multiple times prior being filled with more underwhelming things than one could count with their fingers or toes. "No, ma'am," he said, polite to his mother as he was raised to be.

A light chuckle came from the boy's woman figure, the sound alone near like an incantation of kindness and devotion to her child. Her hands formerly behind her back, she brought them forward, a letter in hand with its envelope.

"I'm so proud of you, kid," his father said suddenly, sounding more jolly than normal. "You'll finally be able to be a true wizard!"

"Huh...?"

His mother kindly gave the boy the note, his eyes quickly skimming over. Every so often he would mutter the words to himself before his lips would stop, as if they couldn't keep up with the pace of his eyes. It was soon that the near teal-coloured eyes gleamed, a wide, gleeful grin covering his face.

"I'm gonna be a wizard!" he beamed. "I'm really gonna be a true wizard! Mom, Dad, this is amazing!"

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Gregory Bell Sat Oct 18, 2014 4:46 pm

Greg had an extremely long morning. He and his cousin had went sight seeing. He wasn't complaining, though. He'd seen the same things over and over again, but Autumn had a way of making everything new.

The first thing he did when was jump into his bed. He was about to sleep, when Autumn came into his room and jumped onto his bed too.

"You got important mail!" she yelled right into his ear.

He turned his head to look at her. "Don't do that," he said.

"It's really important, Greg," she replied smiling.

"Can I sleep first?" he asked.

"NO! YOU HAVE TO READ IT RIGHT NOW!" Autumn shouted impatiently.

"Fine! Give it to me," he mumbled.

Autumn smiled triumphantly. "Here," she said, handing him a light blue envelope.

He sat up and stared at her in disbelief. "Is this what I think it is?"

"We won't know unless you open it," she said, mischievously.

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Kayla Miller Sun Oct 19, 2014 5:31 pm

Kayla was bored to tears. She'd been half-reading the same awful book again, something about an innocent young Muggle woman being swept off her feet by a rich powerful wizard. Ugh. The "heroine" was absolutely deplorable and Kayla took pleasure in doodling pictures of her with an arrow through the head. Kayla tried to draw her attacked with various Muggle weapons. Swords, guns, and....ebola? Was that a type of knife or something? She wasn't sure. The violent scenes quickly lost their entertainment value and Kayla threw the book on the floor.

Through the crack of her door she saw Patrick, dressed sharply and deep in thought as he headed for work. "PATRICK!" Her brother looked startled, though whether it was more so because of her unusual enthusiasm or her morning outfit. She could hardly blame him for the latter; not every eleven-year-old girl wore pinstripe red jacket with black velvet pants. He should've been used to that by now, although admittedly, they didn't hang out together much. Alright, not at all. She didn't see much of any of her cousins and Caleb, now that they were all out of Beauxbatons they were doing magical stuff. She really had no clue what they were doing, for all she knew,  they could be doing anything from saving the world to taking orders from hags.

To her surprise, Patrick smiled. "Hey, Kayla." He patted her head awkwardly. Kayla liked Patrick; although he was quiet and focused, he did have a sense of humor. "Congratulations, Kayla. You must be excited."

Kayla stared at him blankly. "About....?"

Patrick sighed. "Didn't Cameron give it to you? Your letter to Beauxbatons!"

"You mean..." Kayla's face contorted into a mix of excitement and fury. "CAMERON! GIVE IT BACK HERE!"

As she returned, two minutes later, her pinstripe jacket disheveled and pants filled with dust, Patrick couldn't resist a little laugh. "Here's your letter, Kayla," he said, handing her the blue envelope from behind his back.

Kayla snatched it from him huffily, pretending to be angry. "Thanks," she snapped, but her face broke into a smile. Never before in her life had Patrick been so mischievous to her. It was a good start to Beauxbatons.

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Isobel Green Sat Nov 22, 2014 8:05 pm

Isobel loved the summertime. It was never too hot or too cool in Paris and it almost never rained. But she loved it, not for the weather, but because she got to stay home and do whatever she wanted all day. She could play with her dolls or sing or just sleep if she wanted to.

Isobel was protesting talking to her parents because they wouldn't buy her something she wanted when they went to the store, so today was an "I'm not leaving this bedroom!" sort of day.

She sat on the wooden floor of her bedroom and looked around. There were clothes in random piles on the floor. She couldn't remember in they were clean or dirty, she just knew they needed to be picked up. Ryan wouldn't be happy if he saw all of her things just laying around.

Her bedroom door being tapped on interrupted her thoughts. She looked up in time to see a light blue envelope slide underneath. She sighed and crawled over to pick it up. "You're late," Isobel said. She ripped open the envelope, spilling the contents onto the floor with her. She felt like she knew what they said, and even if she didn't, her family would know. She sighed. She was going to clean her room before she told Ryan.

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Jonas Winchester Sat Feb 14, 2015 12:49 pm

Jonas had to make a big choice when he was ten years old. He had to decide whether he wanted to go to Hogwarts, like his sister, or to Beauxbatons, like his brother. He was pacing through the kitchen when an owl tapped on the glass of biggest window. Jonas rushed to let the bird in. He was hoping that it was a letter from Gregory. "What do you have?" he asked the white bird. Jonas retrieved the letter. He turned the blue envelope over in his hands. It had a Beauxbatons seal on it. "Is this for me?" The bird looked up at the boy, but didn't otherwise respond at all. Not that he was expecting it to.

Jonas opened the envelope carefully. He pulled the letter out and read it, struggling a little with the French.

"It's an acceptance! Thank you!" he told the owl.

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Katherine Hayle Wed Feb 18, 2015 11:13 am

Katherine Hayle (more preferably known as Kat) loved waking up early in the morning. Her parents were notoriously late risers, so she cherished these few hours of uninterrupted drawing time. She got out of her warm bed, tossing off the covers and ignoring the cold chill that greeted her as she went to her desk, pushing away the pile of accumulated junk to reveal her personal sketchbook. The cover was covered in an intricate floral design that complimented the brightly colored polka-dot cover. She grabbed a pencil and turned to her current page, building off the previous day's work. Her brown eyes gained a passionate gleam as she sketched, soft music playing in the background.

An hour later, her progress was hindered by a knocking at her bedroom door.

"Joshy?" The tall girl asked as she walked to the door, opening it quickly. "Is that you?"

A small brunette boy stared back at her innocently, grinning at her. She smiled, giggling as she brought the boy in for a hug. Releasing her little brother from the embrace, she tilted her head. "What's up? Is everything alright?"

The little boy took a letter from his pocket and waved it at her frantically. Curious, Kat took the letter and popped it open with her thumb nail. Growing impatient after the first sentence and  skipping around to find the meaning of the letter, the red-head began to squeal and jump around excitedly, Josh joining her by hopping around and clapping. "I can't believe it! Woohoo! I have to pack everything!" She exclaimed., racing around the room to decide what to take, her mind buzzing with activity. However her eyes drifted to the nearly complete sketchbook page, and she sat her little brother on her lap as she returned to her desk, now seemingly uninterested in packing with something much more fun to do.

"-Later."

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Apollo Kronidis Tue Aug 25, 2015 3:00 pm

Appollo woke up at 10:30 am. It was just another day. He stood up and went towards the bathroom. It was something he did every day and although he really hates routine, he never really complained about it. He brushed his teeth, took a shower and got dressed. Just a normal day, he muttered, as he went downstairs to eat his breakfast. Being naturally a happy person, Apollo came to the kitchen, with a smile drawn on his face, and said good morning to his father.

For some reason his father was grinning in an almost ironic way. That was really unusual for his father. Apollo was a typical optimist and his father a typical pessimist. They had got used to each other, despite being radically different. Seeing his father smiling, almost forced him ask in a sarcastic way: "I guess you bought a cake or something, because only food makes you that happy." He laughed afterwards, as he did always when joking. His father handed him a letter.

Apollo read the letter loudly (because really, talking loudly is way more convenient for him). "Mister Apollo Kronidis," he read. "We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Beauxbatons Academy of Magic." A broad smile appeared on his faced. Apollo screamed (with an almost feminine voice, but whatever), as he jumped up and down shouting happily: I got accepted! I got accepted! WHOOOOOOOO!

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Aidan De Gaule Tue Aug 25, 2015 7:24 pm

Honestly, Aidan couldn't say he was very surprised when he got the letter. After all, those weird guys from the "Ministry of Magic" had already told him that he would need to go to some kind of special school, so this was probably what they meant. He felt so miserable, just thinking about it. He had heard Paris was chill, but the nearest beach was in Normandy, which was way too far. And the North Sea is cold, too. Just thinking about it made his head spin.

No. He was not going.

It was really that simple. He didn't need magic, he had gotten around just fine without it, and plenty of people did, all around the world! Still. The underwater air bubble was so random, it might as well have been some kind of sci-fi thing. He sat up, something he hadn't done in two entire weeks. He felt like throwing up. He did throw up, merely seconds later. Well, at least that's another load of water out of my lungs...

He still had to tell his dad. And so he shouted: "Hey dad! Can we talk?"

Not that long after, the older man came into the room, barely making any noise at all. "What's the matter?'

"I'm not going."

One eyebrow was raised. "What do you mean you're not going? Merde, Aidan! Ça n'ira plus!*"

Aidan didn't say a word.

"Aidan, don't you understand? We can't stay here. I can't pay the bills. You can't either. My future is uncertain, but you have got so much potential... Un sorcier... Dans ma famille...**"

Aidan realised how selfish he had been in his decision. He would have to bear it, and then see from there. Maybe he'd even like Paris... He hugged his dad.

"Aidan, ne m'oublierez jamais, d'accord?"

"D'ac, papa." ***

He would go... He had to.

Aidan De Gaule was going to Beauxbatons.

----
* "Shit, Aidan! It can't go on like this!"

** "A wizard... In my family..."

*** "Aidan, never forget me, alright?"

"Alright, dad."

Post by Max Wolfe Sat Aug 29, 2015 2:23 am

Maximus Wolfe found the summer to be an absolute nightmare, despite it be a reoccurring dream where he currently lived. It was always too hot, and he could never wear any amount of clothing to change that.

This discontent and his typical attitude caused a glare to sweep across his peripheral vision. Whenever he saw someone look at him, he smirked and called someone out for a certain trait or feature under his breath. Whether it was that a person looked like they got dressed in the dark or wouldn't know good music to save their life, he knew better than them at something.

He finally got to his house, his attitude not quite displayed as arrogance, but more of a pedestal that he wouldn't get down off of. His true friends understood this to an extent, and accepted that while he believed he knew better always, never could it be said that he didn't stick up for and support his friends.

As he flipped through the mail his mother had set on the table, he saw a very specific letter. He didn't bother opening it, but a grin crossed his face.

"I knew it. No surprise to me."

He had been accepted yet again to Beauxbatons, and this fact was just yet another reason why he knew he was better than the rest. His best friend was going as well, and was the only reason he'd even tried in the first place. He wondered why they even bothered with these letters in the first place.

Didn't they realize he already knew he'd get in?

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Garnet Hayes Wed Sep 02, 2015 11:50 am

Garnet couldn't say she was excited to switch schools, she liked the school she had been going to. But her new father had gotten the bright idea of having her transfer to the school that his daughter had gone to. Maybe this time he couldn't have a dropout for a daughter. Her mother had been married for about three years now but Garnet was still resentful and didn't think she belonged in the family. She kept telling herself that she would never belong so she never tried. Her mother tried to get her to be friendly and try, but after three years nothing was going to change. She wasn't going to try. She would get by until she was able to live on her own, until then she just had to suck it up.

What people didn't realize was that this was a big move for the young girl. She had moved her whole life around and the one thing she had wanted she couldn't have anymore. She couldn't go to the school she wanted to go to anymore and there was nothing left for her to enjoy.

The fourteen year old usually stayed in her room and ignored everyone. She had a few friends but mostly kept to herself. Today was no different, she blasted her music through her bulky headphones as she laid on her bed. She was soon interrupted by her mom entering her room and placing a letter on the night stand by her bed. Garnet didn't move to look at it, she already knew that it was the letter to new school. To her new beginning and she wasn't ready.

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Stephanie Vargas Thu Sep 03, 2015 2:59 pm

It was early in the morning and Stephanie decided to clean her room. She surely loved order. She didn't want even the slightest object to be sticking out. Some people called her a "perfectionist"...She may was one, but she couldn't do otherwise. Her mother didn't wake up until 10 (it was Saturday after all), so she decided to make breakfast for herself.

She washed her hands (she was pretty much addicted to cleanliness. Just the mere idea of germs and dust made her shudder. Who knew what she may had touched when she was cleaning her room...) and went towards the kitchen. As she was passing through the living room she thought to go outside and take the letters. She liked to read each one of them, especially the bills, in order to understand better the way she'll run her house in the future. She was only 11 years old, but things revolving around her future always stressed her.

She left the letters on the kitchen's table, when one of them literary flew towards her, right into her hand. She gasped...rather loudly actually. She immediately shut her mouth with her hands...she didn't want to wake her mother up. She opened the letter and read..."Miss Stephanie Vargas, we are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Beauxbatons Academy of Magic."

"Incredibile..." She said quietly and smiled slightly. Smiled...that was surely a weird expression for her. But she didn't care for once. She was going at the school she wanted to go. She was ready to work as hard as she could...new chances come with new responsibilities, she thought.

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Ursula Valdez Thu Sep 03, 2015 3:22 pm

Ursula was surprised when she recieved a letter. After all, she had been traveling along the Amazon for nearly three months now. How did anyone know where she would be? How did anyone even know her? It wasn't a mistake, the adress stated:

"Ursula Clara Valdez Caballero
Near 5 trees in the Amazon and behind a puma
Brazil"

It had been a long time since someone had called her by her full name. Everyone always simply said Ursula. Why wouldn't they? She was the only Ursula, and her father had ran off after her mother died during her birth. Or, at least, that's what she had been told. He was Peruan, meaning she got a Spanish name. She didn't know anything else about him. She opened the letter. Accepted... Beauxbatons... School for wizards and witches... Paris... She, strangely enough, smiled a little. Destiny was calling, and Ursula would immediately pick up the phone. Ships sailed to Paris nearly every day, she should be able to find a way into one of them... Then, she would have to wait and see. She had no idea what day it was. Beauxbatons started in September... Still, how did they find her? Were there more chosen by the Earthmother? For the first time, Ursula felt a rush of energy flow through her veins. She nearly started running, but was immediately stopped by a giant growling beast. She stepped on it's tail... She started patting it on the head, like she did with all the gigantic cats that lived around her. It seemed to be really enjoying it. "Alright... You can go now... I'm not going to take you to Paris..." She set off again, this time making sure she didn't disturb anything else. First stop: Macapà, then: Paris!

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Andrea Ritter Sat Sep 05, 2015 10:54 pm

"Andrea, you can't move a bishop that way. It's supposed to go diagonally across the board."

Andrea made a face at her cousin. "Well I can't keep the moves straight. Chess is so boring. Why does each piece have to have a different movement anyway?"

"Only because you don't concentrate", Dominick retorted good naturedly, "and that's the rules".

She'd been about to argue when the voice of her aunt called up the stairs, "Andrea Ritter get down here now".

Andrea jumped up off the bed, upsetting the chess pieces. "Sorry Dom. Your mother is summoning me.  I must have put starch on the handkerchiefs again."

As she raced out the room and downstairs she could hear her cousin yell, "You don't do ironing".

The brunette jumped the last step and stopped short at the sight of the her aunt holding an envelope.  "Do you care to tell me what Beauxbatons Academy of Magic is meant to be?"

Andrea stared at the envelope addressed to her and wrinkled her brow in confusion. "I've never heard of it. Maybe that horrible English girl is playing a trick.  She never did like me."

Her aunt sniffed. "There is nothing wrong with Sarah Mason other than your dislike of her.  Open it and I'll decide for myself if it is a trick or not," she ordered.  Andrea found that a very odd statement to make but complied.  "Dear Miss Ritter...hey they called me Miss...sorry.  Um Aunt Lisa maybe you should read it.  I don't think I can keep a straight face."  And she knew how much her aunt hated what she called 'Andrea's nonsense'.

The older woman complied and sniffed again before returning the letter to Andrea.  "Whole lot of nonsense but if this does turn out to be genuine I will at least have a break from you throughout the school year. Just make sure you don't do anything that results in bad reports being sent home."

She then walked off to the kitchen whilst Andrea opened the envelope and read the contents. Magic? It was too hard to believe. Then her aunt's words suddenly hit her. If this was real she was going to a boarding school. How would she ever survive?

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Guest Wed Sep 30, 2015 1:11 am

Gretchen groaned and sat back in her chair and she listened to her mother go on and on about how disappointed she was that her daughter had been kicked out of one of the nicest wizarding schools. It wasn't her fault that they didn't appreciate the creature that she loved so dearly. Spiders were so interesting and cool, why didn't anyone else see that? Apparently Hogwarts had had enough of her bull shit and decided it was time to kick her out. It had been six years and she was surprised she had made it there for that long. She was such a trouble maker and it took a long time for someone to get tired of her shit.

She didn't want to listen to any of this, she knew that this was the last straw. Now she probably had to go to some school close to her. Some muggle school. She couldn't blame her parents if they decided a muggle school was best for her. But what her mom said next caught the sixteen year old off guard.

"You'll be going to Beauxbatons for your final years of school," her mother stated in a serious tone. "I expect you to do well and I expect you to stay out of trouble. I swear if I get any letters you will be pulled out of school and you will be home schooled until you graduate." Her mother's warning rang in her ears. She was actually giving her another chance? It was no secret that she thought her daughter was weird for having special magical powers.

She wasn't sure what to do at this moment. Did she hug her mom? Did she thank her? All she could do was sit in stunned silence as she stared at her hands in her lap. This was better news than she was expecting. "Thanks," she said quietly after a long pause.

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Reese Hayes Wed Sep 30, 2015 2:46 am

Reese was drained of all energy, he had stayed up all night in hopes to get a letter from his pen pal. His family owned an owl, a common way to send letters for wizards, and he had not come back from his journey that night. He had been sending letters back and forth with his friend for about six months and still didn't know their name. All he knew was their address and the things that they told him. They used nicknames instead of their real names though Reese was perfectly fine with revealing his true identity. This was nice for him, there was nothing awkward about this and no face to face interactions. It was so much easier for him to talk to someone he couldn't see the face of.

Since their owl had not shown up and the sun was rising, Reese thought it would be a good idea to get in a nap before being woken up to start the day. He curled into his warm bed, he could hardly keep his eyes open. But before he could drift off to sleep, there was a loud bang at his window. The young boy screamed and shot up from his bed. "That's not funny!" he yelled when he realized it had been his oldest brother on his broom. Every morning, every sun rise, his brothers woke up and trained with their dad. Everyone but him. He was kind of an outcast in his home. His brothers snickered before zooming off on their brooms. Brothers could be so horrid.

Hours later, and no sleep, breakfast was served. "Eat up," his mother grinned at her son. The happy moment was soon ruined when his other brothers burst through the door. They were loud and sweaty and gross. Jakob, his brother that was a year older than him, decided it was a good idea to wipe the sweat off of his face and onto Reese. "Gross!" the young boy screamed. This only seemed to make things worse because his other brothers followed in suit. "Get away!" He tried to push them away from him.

"Leave your poor brother alone," his mother scowled. Quickly his brothers stopped and took their seats at the kitchen table.

"Why should they stop?" his father said as he entered the room. "Reese needs thicker skin. Needs to man up. Play some sports." His brothers thought it was just a riot and began to laugh at their little brother.

Reese had had just about enough of them so he excused himself from the table, without eating, and went upstairs to his room. He loved his family, and he knew they loved him, but they didn't understand him. When he entered his room he noticed not only his family's owl sleeping on his bed but two letters. He had left his window open knowing that his bird would find its way back home.

He knew what both were. One was from his friend and the other was an acceptance letter to the school that his parents had gone to. To the school that his brothers go to. He looked at his closed door before sitting on his bed. He would just mention the letter later, he was in no mood to go back downstairs.

Getting Your Letter Empty Re: Getting Your Letter

Post by Rajan Ashley Tue Feb 09, 2016 1:00 pm

Things were quiet in the Ashley house, his parents were probably out and his siblings were possibly out as well. He was used to be at home alone and this didn't bother him one bit. The only thing that bothered him was the fact that he had to go downstairs and tell the maid to cook his breakfast instead of his mother telling her to do it and it already be prepared for him. It was so difficult being him. So he got up from his huge bed that was filled with pillows that he didn't need and pulled on his robe. He tied it around his slender body before sliding his feet into his favorite pair of slippers. He couldn't be bothered to brush his hair or worry about it, that was for Juliet to worry about once he was done with his breakfast.

Raj didn't play well with others so a nanny was hired to give him the attention he deserved without involving any children. Juliet was nice and did whatever Raj wanted, if he wanted ice cream for lunch then she delivered. It was probably because she feared for her job but he wanted to believe it was because she liked him and wanted him happy. Deep down he knew that wasn't the case and she just feared his parents, but he didn't mind that too much. She was his third nanny and he hoped she was his last, he liked this one.

The young boy threw open the doors to his room, making as much noise as he possibly could. "I DEMAND MY BREAKFAST!" he shrieked before making his way down the spiral stairs that lead to the "family" room. The room was never used and it turned into a room where Raj kept all of his video games (which he didn't play but yelled when anyone touched them). "BREAKFAST!" he said again as a reminder. He could hear commotion coming from the kitchen and knew the cooks were hurrying to satisfy him. He quickly made his way through the room and into the kitchen. He took a seat at his spot, the chair had his name on it. Instead of breakfast being there, there was a letter instead.

"What is this?" he said more to himself than the staff working the kitchen.

"It was waiting for you, sir. Thought your parents had left it for you," said one of the maids that he couldn't remember the name of. Raj quickly opened the letter and read what was inside. This had to be a joke that one of his siblings had played on him. But he still imagined what would happen if this was real.
