Grace was smiling as she waited for her mother to stop being such a blabber mouth. She looked down at her light blue nails and laughed a little at her failed attempt to be fancy and make a little flower. It looked like a chicken that had slept upside down more than it did anything else. She smiled when her food came over to the table and munched on some fried potatoes and sipped at a soda. Her mother might have made a comment about her eating fast, but she was starving Fiona had ate all of the remaining raspberry danish so Grace hadn't eaten since the night before at the last Campfire Scouts meeting of the summer. Troop leader Mindy made the best s'mores in the world. She was halfway through chewing on one of her potatoes when she saw a girl, seemingly her age walk in. Grace's face brightened right up and she waved. Maybe this could be her first non-scout friend!

Tamara's mother was talking to her about some of her own stories from school. Her daughter was only partially listening. She was still so excited about the letter. They walked into the restaurant and Tamara was studying the environment, the two were led over to a table. As they were walking by a girl wave to her. Tamara smiled politely back and waved. She didn't have very many friends her age...and this girl did appear to be as old she was. Maybe, maybe she would be her first real friend. She sat down across from her mother, who was wondering who she was waving to. Tamara simply shrugged and gestured over to the girl.

The girl seemed nice enough and Grace was so bored that she ate her last fried potato and walked over to introduce herself. With the grace and swagger of a turkey with one leg, she nearly tripped over a waiter. She fixed her glasses and apologized about a thousand times and then walked over to their table. Thankfully they were at a break in conversation and Grace decided to introduce herself. "Hi, I'm Grace." She said softly. "I'm going to be a first year at Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. I just figured it'd be nice to introduce myself if you're also a first year or a peer. If not, I apologize for interrupting you."

Tamara and her mother had just ordered, as the waiter walked away, the girl had almost tripped over him. She peeked over her shoulder and giggled. Her mother was not amused and scolded her, the giggling stopped, and Tamara was approached by the girl. She smiled. "It's nice to make your acquaintance, but I'm afraid I have no idea what your talking about."

"Tamara Sage." Her mother scolded once more. The middle name was involved, one knew it was serious when the middle name came into it.

"Just teasing." She smiled at Grace once more and held her hand out. "I'm Tamara, also a first year. It really is nice to meet you."

"It's nice to meet you too." The bubbly girl beamed. Grace really wanted to make friends.  She'd always been considered a dork-which she was proud of, being a dork was the best. She got to read all the books she wanted and no one seemed shocked about her being a scout. It was the easiest life for her to have. She had no appearance expectations so she was allowed to wear the guy clothes that she liked so much. Currently she had on a guys t-shirt and athletic shorts, he bright blonde hair reaching past her shoulders and down her back.

Tamara grinned back at her. She noted the girl's appearance and compared it to her own. Tamara dressed so girly, she was wearing a dark blue sundress, her hair pulled back into a braid. They did seem like opposites, but Tamara shrugged that off. She barely knew the girl, no need to judge on these sort of things so soon. The two had only just met. And she really wanted a new friend, especially with them going off to the same school. To have make a friend before evening stepping foot on the school's grounds would make adjusting so much easier.

Per suggestion from her mother who had begun to chat up Mrs. Perle, Grace took a seat with Tamara. The two ladies sat where Grace originally was to chat. "Are you excited about school?" Grace asked Tamara curiously. "We'll get to do magic and everything." Grace said excitedly, reaching behind her to put her hair into a ponytail. Her mother had suggested on leaving her hair down, but this wasn't working for her at all. It was much too cumbersome to deal with when she factored in the wind. A ponytail however provided much more flexibility for the day.

Tamara glanced at the two mothers, the two of them seemed to get a long quite nicely. She turned back to Grace when she was asked a question. "I'm so excited! I can't wait to be around more people my age and my parents have been telling me about the school for years. I was so anxious to get my letter too. It'll be amazing learning magic!" She said with a grin. "You're excited too, right?" She watched Grave put her hair up, she did have really nice hair and it would be perfect braiding, if the two of them became close friends, Tamara was sooo going to have fun playing with her hair.

Grace nodded, smiling happily. "My oldest cousin Patrick is a squib. So when people get their letters in our house it's a really big deal. Everyone's afraid to be the next squib. It's sad actually." But she shrugged. "I'm super excited though." She nodded quickly. "So what do you like to do for fun?" Grace asked friendly. "I like to sing and take pictures and hike and stuff like that. I'm a Campfire Scout. I'm almost high ranking enough to be a troop helper in organizing activities and stuff. I want to plan a trip to an amusement park next summer. Somewhere where the troop can sleep over and make it a few day thing." She smiled broadly.

"That does sound rather sad..." Tamara nodded, listening to her talk. It was interesting hearing about someone else's family. "I have a lot of different relatives all over. They're all witches and wizards though. I don't have any siblings though or cousins close to my age who live near me." She shrugged. "Do you have any siblings?" She smiled at Grace. "And I like to dance. I've taken lessons since I was a little girl, I think I'm quite good.I also like singing and art... but I don't know what a Campfire Scout is..." She admitted, confused a bit. What was an amusement park too...?

"It does." Grace agreed and smiled when Tamara talked about her family. Tamara seemed to be much more isolated from her extended family than Grace was. "I have two sisters. Mabel, who's kind of mean to people, so just ignore her. But she's a really fantastic dancer too. And then there's Fiona, she likes to pull pranks and be messy. I don't know how I ended up being related to them." She giggled. "Campfire Scouts is like a club that's focussed on wilderness things. Like making campfires and categorizing animals and all kinds of things like that. But to move up in the ranks you need to earn badges for completing tasks like helping old ladies cross the street."

Tamara listened intently and smiling as she talked about her sisters. It made her wish she had siblings. "What's it like living with sisters?" She was curious and really wanted to know. She was still confused about what a Campfire Scout was though... "Is it a muggle thing?" Tamara tilted her head curiously. "And you actually take the elderly across the street?" Hearing all these weird activities was odd for her. She was given lessons on the simple muggle things from a tutor and taught the history of magic from her grandmother. Her experiences in the muggle world were little to none.

"Having sisters is positively chaotic." Grace decided. "But it's also kind of nice to have someone who tries to stick up for you by default. But fighting is annoying. Campfire Scouts is in fact a muggle thing. My most favorite muggle thing in the world actually." Grace smiled. "Do you not know much about the muggle world?" It didn't seem like she did, but Grace could help with that. "I love doing some muggle stuff." Grace grinned broadly. "I bet you would too if you tried them out. Especially Campfire scouts." Grace was hoping she could get Tamara to like some of the same things she did.

"It sounds fun." Tamara came to the conclusion about sisters. They probably shared clothes and hung out. They were a friend that one already had. "I know next to nothing about the muggle world. When I was growing up I had a tutor to teach me maths and history and other things like that... but activities and stuff... I don't know any of that." She admitted, chewing her lip. "Is there a cute outfit if you're a Campfire Scout?" Tamara tilted her head. She was sooo in if there was a cute outfit. She smiled at her new friend, well she hoped they were friends now, because Tamara was counting her as such.

"It is, sometimes." Grace nodded. "Well I'll teach you all different stuff like that because some muggle stuff is really really cool." She said with a smile. Grace bit her lip. "Well I like the outfit, but I don't know how cute it is." She shrugged "I wear it a lot though. It's very comfortable." She grinned brightly. She said as she sipped at a drink. She liked this Tamara girl a lot. She was nice and pretty and they were going to be great friends she was just so sure of it. Grace smiled at her kindly and happily.

"Well, having siblings compared to none sounds better to me." Tamara smiled at her. "You'd really show me muggle stuff? That would be great! I've always been curious." She almost threw her arms around Grace, but decided that might've been a bit forward of her, seeing as they just met. "Comfy is nice too." She giggled, resting her elbow on the table and her chin on the palm of her hand. Tamara liked talk to Grace so much, it was so nice to have a friend her age. She couldn't wait to become the best of friends with her. Tamara smiled brightly back at Grace.

Grace smiled and nodded. "Yeah, I suppose it would be." She nodded again more enthusiastically. "Of course I'd show you muggle stuff!" She decided. "Friends do that sort of stuff for each other." She drummed her fingers on the table. "What's your favorite color?" She asked curiously. "Your favorite color says a lot about you, did you know that?" Grace asked her. "It can say a lot about a person's personality and stuff like that." Grace explained. "I'm not sure how, but I read that in a book somewhere." She giggled and fixed her glasses. She smiled at Tamara. It was extremely nice to talk to her.

Tamara smiled brightly, giggling at her enthusiasm. Her smiled widened at the word 'friends'. She thought they were friends? Tamara felt so giddy now. "We're friends?" She asked, grinning and biting her lip. "I think my favorite color is pink... no.. purple... no blue... Ah... pink. Definitely pink." She nodded choosing the color at last. "What about your favorite color?" Tamara smiled happily at her new friend. Grace was so easy to talk to. She glanced over at the two mothers, who were chit chatting it up, she smiled glad that they were also getting along. Tamara played with the ends of her braid.

"We're friends!" She nodded excitedly. By Tamara's face she assumed that Tamara wanted to be friends with her too. "Pink is your favorite? That's cool." She grinned brightly. "My favorite is definitely aquamarine. I just think it's so pretty and yeah." Grace was loving how easy it was to talk to Tamara. She was the perfect girl to be friends with. Grace was kind of in awe of her braid. She couldn't braid her hair at all, but Tamara's was a perfect braid. "You have to teach me how to do a braid like that. It's positively perfect." Grace smiled at Tamara.

Tamara really wanted to hug Grace then, she almost did, but stopped. "Aquamarine is such a lovely color and it would look lovely on you." She smiled brightly at Grace. Her smiled widened when she realized her new friend was admiring her braid. "Do you like it? I braided it myself." Tamara grinned proudly and nodded. "Of course I could show you! Better yet, I can braid your hair for you. Friends do that for each other." She said matter-of-factly and nodded. "Plus your hair is like perfect for braiding." Oh, they were going to have so much fun together!
