We're Going on a Troll Hunt Empty We're Going on a Troll Hunt

Ever since Caleb had gotten the letter from his parents stating he was going to have a younger sibling, he had been out of sorts. At some moemnts, he was angry, other moments he acted like a small child. At this moment, he was acting like a four year old. He just wanted to have fun and enjoy himself. He had heard many rumors about the dungeons and how a troll lived there. He was pretty sure the stories were true.

He grabbed the nearest person, poor Adela, and pulled on her arm. "Let's go into the dungeon! We can hunt down the troll and find out where he lives!" He hoped the girl would go along with what he was saying. "We're going on a troll hunt, we're going on a troll hunt!" He jumped up and down like an excited two-year-old. He was one at heart.

Adela was wondering the halls like she usually did when she was bored and had nothing else to do. That's not true. She was supposed to be studying, but decided she could use a short break to rest her mind. Adela saw her friend Caleb and decided to stop and chat with him, but before she could even get a single word out of her mouth, he was pulling on her arm and screaming something about hunting a troll in the dungeon.

Adela had heard rumors about a troll lurking around in the dungeon, but she never really believed them. Caleb seemed excited about it though and she didn't want to upset him, so she went along with it. Besides, it sounded like fun and was a good excuse for getting away from studying for a while longer. She began jumping up and down and chanting along with the boy. "We're going on a troll hunt, We're going on a troll hunt! Let's get to it then!" Adela began skipping down the hall towards the dungeons, Caleb in arm, still chanting, "We're going on a troll hunt!"

Caleb was happy that Adela was actually going along with his little game. He felt like a small child and he wanted it to last. "We're going on a troll hunt!" He hoped there weren't any actual trolls. He was sure that they ate little kids for breakfast, and he was a little kid. As they got closer and closer to the dungeons, Caleb's excitement began to fade. It was replaced with fear. But he couldn't just give up, giving up was not for him. "Let's go!"

They entered the dungeons, it was creepy and dimly lit. He was acting brave and tough, but he was actually pretty scared. "How have you been this year?" He decided to talk to get his mind off of the scene before him.

Adela was excited to go on an adventure with Caleb, even if it was just to the dungeons to hunt for a troll that doesn't exist. But what if it did? Could the rumors be true? That's silly, she thought. There would never be a real troll in the dungeons. Even if there was one at some point, the teachers would've taken care of it by now... wouldn't they have? Adela kept telling herself not to believe the rumor, it was just a rumor after all. She had never seen a troll before, but had heard that they were big, like bigger than big. They were huge, and mean and gross looking.

By the time they got to the dungeons Adela was starting to worry. The dungeon was dark, cold, and somewhat damp, making it a very eerie place to be, especially while hunting for a troll. She kept telling herself that the troll didn't exist. Looking over at Caleb, he looked like he was being brave, but Adela could see that underneath he was starting to get nervous too. This made her feel better, but at the same time, worse. It was nice to see that she wasn't the only one who was scared, but he probably new more about the rumors. That would mean they were probably true if he was frightened by the beast.

Adela was happy when Caleb asked her a question. Maybe it would ease her mind thinking about something other than the creepy dungeon and the troll that may be hiding in it. "My year has been going pretty good. It was kind of funny seeing the the new first years try to figure things out. Now I realize how silly we must have looked last year. How about you?" Adela smiled, trying to look confident and at ease.

Caleb was starting to feel a bit better after he and Adela began to talk. It was distracting him from his horrible thoughts about trolls and how dark it was around them. "Yeah," Caleb agreed, laughing a bit at the first years misfortune of looking confused at things. "My cousin is a first year this year, but she acts like she knows what she's doing." Caleb's year was going.....somewhere. "Well..." Caleb started. "First mother took my candy away from me and I wasn't able to get it back. But I asked Payton and other students to get candy for me."

Then came the tough apart, the reason why he was acting like such a child. "Last week I got a letter from my mother and father saying that I was going to have a younger sibling. I won't be the youngest anymore! Which isn't fair at all. I'm supposed to be the baby, not some...baby!" He sighed. "I'm not happy about that. At all."

Once the conversation got going, it was a little easier for Adela to get her mind off of the Troll possibly lurking somewhere in this dark place. "Why did your mother take your candy away? That's horrible. At least you have friends who are willing to give you some." Adela could hear the disappointment in Caleb's voice when he talked about his parents having another child. She would be happy to have a brother or sister. Growing up as an only child wasn't any fun.

"I wish I had siblings. Growing up I never had someone to play with all the time, or talk to at parties where there are just a lot of old people. It was pretty boring. And just think, you can get your younger brother to do things for you just because you are older than them. Having siblings, especially younger ones, has it's advantages."

"She took my candy away cause I was getting bad grades and candy kept getting me in trouble." He recalled when he had put some of his cnady into a potion. he had goten in so much trouble. "I put some cnady into a potion and it exploded and my mother was told about it. I got an angry letter that literally yelled at me. And when I got home, she yelled some more and took my cnady away. I was grounded for some of the summer, but all I did was complain so she ungrounded me."

"But I already have an older brother and I wanted to stay the baby. But I see what you mean, I guess it won't be that bad. But its like I'm being replaced as the youngest, you know what I mean? I want to be the youngest." He hoped that the child would at least be a bit cool and would listen to him. "I hope its a boy. Cause mother would spoil a girl rotten and spend more time with her than she would with me. Mother always wanted a girl, Patrick told me. She wanted me to be a girl."

"I remember that! There was a huge purple explosion. The professor was not happy. You should probably be a little more careful when it comes to your candy." Adela laughed. "With great candy comes great responsibility!" she said in the deepest voice she could. "That punishment does seem pretty harsh though." Last year seemed like so long ago. So much has changed in a year. It seemed like a pretty long time to ban someone from the joys of candy. "So when are you aloud to have your candy back?"

"The great thing about having a younger brother or sister is that you get to pick on them and get them to do whatever you want. Well, at least that's what I hear. Like when your brother told you that your mom wanted you to be a girl. He was picking on you because you are the younger sibling and that's what happens. Now you won't be the only one for him to pick on and you have someone to pick on too. Not being the baby has its advantages." Adela was trying her best to cheer her friend up.

"I know, I know. Mother gaves me a long boring speech about my candy. Then she took it away and it was gone just like that." He was still pretty upset about it, even though he had gotten his fix throughout the year. "Maybe I can convince her to give my candy back!" His mothere had never said a thing about giving his candy back or if she was going to. "I dunno. She hasn't said a word about my candy since she took it away."

"I guess so," Caleb said, still glum about not being the youngest anymore. "I rather there be no child at all, honestly. But that's mean, I guess. So, I shouldn't say things like that. But its the truth." Patrick had never picked on him, did he? "I don't think so, Patrick has never picked on me. At least, I don't think so." Maybe his best brother in the world really wasn't what Caleb thought. What if he wasn't the best brotehr in the world?

"Bring up the candy to your mother. Just tell her you will be more responsible with it and all that boring junk. Say you have matured and are wiser about that kind of stuff. Try to use big words, those always make people sound smarter and more mature and responsible. She might let you have it back," Adela said hopefully. "Just don't wine or complain about it, that never works. It makes you sound like a baby who can't handle having candy. I know you still want to be the baby in the family, but it won't help you in this situation."

All this conversation made Adela almost forget about what they were doing in the dungeons in the first place. Chills went down her spine. They were hunting a troll. "I really hope this troll rumor is just that, a rumor. I don't know what I would do if I ran into a real troll." She became more vigilant at this point, looking into every dark corner for any signs of movement that might be the beast.
