Alpha Dog Empty Alpha Dog

Osmund had just been walking from History of Magic, partially sleepy because even a studious student like himself could find a subject boring and nearly doze off in. He had been working his arse off trying to study for the bigger fish to fry classes and was already tired for that, so that the lulling voice of the old professor did little to keep him stimulated and awake. Osmund wiped the sleepiness from his eyes and readjusted his bag as he turned down the corridor, unaware of the older boy waiting for him. The boy was a sixth year and a Cerisier, apparently even more overwhelmingly bummed about his team's loss than Captain D'Angelo himself and decided to take it out on Osmund's backpack. He grabbed the bag and tossed it to the ground before giving Osmund a shove.

"What the-!?" He went to grab his backpack, but the boy shoved him again. "Oi! Sod off, you asshole!"

"What's the matter, Hollow? You can beat a bludger but you're really just some scared little girly, aren't you?" The boy teased. Osmund rolled his eyes. What a pain in the ass! All Osmund wanted to do was get back to his dormitory, but this jerk wanted to make up for the loss of his team. He had no business with this and it wasn't his own fault that Cerisier team did worse than Montagnard this season.

"Listen you dumb cunt, go find someone else to go annoy! If you want Cerisier to win, maybe you should grow a pair and tryout next year and then win for yourself instead of blaming you're problems on me," He shoved back at the boy. The boy had a few inches on him, but Oz was young and foolish enough to think he was completely invincible.

Finlay rounded the corner of one of Beauxbatons many corridors but stopped abruptly on his way to class at the sight before him. His estranged brother Osmund was caught in a shoving match with an older student and slinging insults as quickly back as they were thrown at him. The image before him triggered something to start burning in Finlay's belly, angry and raw. "What the bloody fuck are you doing to my brother?" Finlay charged the bully, which he quickly realized was a mistake as the taller boy turned his sights onto Fin. A sound closely resembling a growl erupted from the bully and his face turned an angry tomato color.
"Oh, little sissy boy needs his baby brother to defend him?" The boy taunted.
"Fuck off, you dick." Finlay retorted, which was an enormous mistake as in the next moment he was lying on the ground with a bruised ass.

Osmund was prepared to fight his own fight if the big thug wasn't going to back off. He didnt thin he needed help, but somehow he heard help coming, yelling at the thug getting rough with him. His jaw dropped as he saw who it was and how he addressed him. His own little brother was was coming to his aid and osmund watched as the older boy knocked the twelve year old to the ground.

"Hey! You can mess with me, but if you dare touch my-my brother!"the word felt weird saying, since he always treated the boy like he was dead to him. "Again I swear to Merlin I will shove that textbook up where the sun doesn't shine!" He threatened, grabbing the boy by the collar and shoving him against the wall.

Finlay hadn't thought he would see the day when he would stick up for his older brother, let alone see Osmund defend him in return. With a grunt he scrambled up from his position on the ground and cautiously walked up to the other two boys, almost hiding behind Osmund. The bully snarled at him and Finlay flipped him off. "Thanks, Osmund." He muttered. Though he still wasn't comfortable around his half brother, he was thankful that he got away with no more than a bruised bottom and that Osmund seemed to care enough to rescue him the way he had, even if it didn't seem that the older boy needed rescuing.

Osmund forgot about his half-brother on the floor and was more focused on trying to scare the older kid from ever trying to mess with him again. It worked often with the younger students and those in his own year, but for some reason, older students just really liked to get into Osmund's business.

He kept his wand in his pocket, not wanting to take it out for fear that the older student would hex him with more advanced spells, but stuck to threats only. He seemed to have gotten the idea when he made the comment about the textbook and brushed Oz of of himself and started heading away. Osmund tossed one of his textbooks at the Cerisier for good measure and then turned back to Finlay.

"I didn't need your help," Osmund started, being too proud to admit that maybe things had gotten out of hand for him. "But like thanks or whatever. You got hurt in the process, so that's pretty tough." He folded his arms across his chest, not sure what to do with his hands. This was weird. He always hated the little bastard but now he was starting to see he didn't hate him that much, he just hated the idea of Finlay. He wanted to be his father's only son and be loved, which it turned out, he was neither.

Finlay breathed a sigh of relief when the older student walked away, and Osmund's thank you sounded almost a little impressed. "I know you didn't need my help. I just saw what was happening and reacted. I don't know what came over me." Finlay ran a hand through his hair, a little embarrassed. "But yeah, thanks again. That was pretty cool." He admitted. As much as he disliked his brother he had to admit that he was cool and tough and popular, whether he liked it or not., and he kind of admired him. No matter how much  of a fit they both threw when they met, he sort of admired his brother.

Osmund tried to assess the damage that had come to the twelve-year old, but didn't want to ask. He wasn't ready to start showing that he cared for the boy and wasn't sure if he really did. Did Osmund honestly care if they boy dropped dead right then and there? As horrible as it was, Osmund was still thinking 'no, he would not care as long as it gave him what he wanted.' However, he couldn't ignore the fact that the boy was sort of alright and if they weren't actually related, maybe he would be able to be friends with him.

Osmund didn't know what to do with himself then. Part of him told him to ruffle the kid's hair or do something affectionate, but instead he ended up sort of punching the kid in the arm in attempt to show affection. "Damn straight that one was cool," he replied, smiled awkwardly, then decided it was a lost cause. He couldn't simply change right then and there to suddenly be a good brother to the one he hated all this time. "Take care of yourself, alright?" He said, with a sigh, and was intent on departing from the scene.

Finlay tried not to recoil from Osmund's punch and sort of succeeded. He smiled at his brother's  order to take care of himself and then he was was again acting without thinking, reaching out to grab Osmund's arm as he tried to leave. He immediately pulled his hand back and hid it behind his back. "Hey, umm, maybe you'd want to hang out? I mean, if you're free after school. I might have to check my schedule, in case I'm busy or whatever..." He blabbered on. He wasn't even sure if he wanted to be around the older boy, but he was lonely and reconciling with his brother might be fun and help get rid of some of his boredom.

Osmund heard the hurried steps behind him as he started to walk away and turned to face the boy once again, raising a confused eyebrow. It was starting to seem like Osmund wasn't the only one who didn't know how to act like a brother, which earned a small smile from Oz out of sympathy. The boy wanted to hang out or whatever, which Osmund was a bit iffy about, since he could hardly stand hanging out with people who weren't Xavior or Christian. He was half-tempted to tell the boy not to push his luck. He didn't need to find something annoying about the boy's personality right when he was just starting to like him.

"I don't know...I should really be studying..." Osmund replied with instead. He wasn't even sure what to do with the younger boy. Play guitar? Play Quidditch? That seemed to work out with Christian and his cousin. But he just didn't know anything about Finlay.

Finlay returned Osmund's smile with a small one of his own and reached his arms around on each side, hugging himself nervously. He had no experience or knowledge of how to communicate with the half brother that you previously thought hated you and his face fell when Osmund said he had to study. "Oh, okay. I'm probably busy anyway. It was just an idea " He turned to walk away. He couldn't understand why he was so disappointed when less than an hour ago he didn't want anything to do with his older half brother, let alone offer up his time to hang out. It was probably for the best not to get attached anyway, as his mother might not approve.
