Payton was excited that Adela had been sorted into Montagnard, they were in the same house. Which meant they could spend more time together. Payton thought it would be a good idea to hang out by the lake, it was a very pretty view after all. He set up a small picnic with candies and sodas. It wasn't anything special, he just hoped she'd enjoy it. They were his favorite candies.

As a welcoming gift, he was going to give Adela a ring he had found on the Quidditch pitch. When he couldn't find the owner, the ring sat in his room for the longest time. He thought she'd enjoy the gift. It was a chance to get rid of it, he might as well get a good owner for it. He took the ring out of his pocket and looked it over. It had to be gold, he thought, but he knew nothing about jewelry at all. Maybe she'd know if it was gold or not.

Adela walked along the palace grounds, looking at the scenery. It was all quite beautiful with all the trees and hills. Adela looked one way and could see the large castle reflecting on the surface of the lake. The castle itself looked quite magnificent. Off in the distance she could see the flags of the quidditch pitch waving softly in the breeze. The palace grounds really were an amazing place to have a picnic, which is what Adela had come for. She had been sorted into Montagnard, which is the same house as her best friend, Payton. He invited her to a picnic by the lake to celebrate.

Adela walked along toward the lake, looking for the spot Payton had told her to meet with him, still looking around at all of the beautiful scenery. Finally, she spotted Payton sitting alone with what appeared to be a pile of candy. The site caused her to pick up her speed a little as she headed down to where he was. She would have ran, but it seemed wrong to do in such a peaceful place. Adela reached Payton and sat down right next to him. "Hello," she said cheerfully. She looked at the view they had from where they were seated. "You picked a perfect spot for a picnic, it's beautiful out here," Adela said with a smile.

It was such a beautiful day, the weather was warm and there wasn't. a cloud in the sky. Which is why he picked a nice shady tree to sit under. It was so calm and peaceful, it was the perfect place to just talk and have a little picnic. He could also explain the rules of Quidditch to Adela and explain whatever else she wanted to know. The pile of treats consisted of chocolate frogs, licorice wands, and other sweets the candy shop provided. He had gotta the sodas from the pub, where he and Adela had met.

When Adela sat done, Payton took no time to show her the ring. "Its for you. I found it while I was learning Quidditch and I thought you might like it. Think of it as a welcoming gift." He gave her a smile, for some reason he was suddenly nervous. "I hope you like it." He wasn't sure why, maybe he just antes her to enjoy the gift. Or maybe he wanted the date to go smoothly. Wait, he told himself, this isn't a date, its just a picnic. Before he could dwell on the thought any longer, he offered her some candy.

Adela took the ring that Payton held out to her, and put it on her right ring finger. "It's so beautiful! And it fits perfectly. Thank you so much, I love it," she smiled back. "You're the best." Adela wrapped her arms around Payton and gave him the biggest hug she could. She looked at the ring, admiring it. It looked like it was gold, but she wasn't sure. Whether it was or not didn't matter to her. All that mattered was who had given it to her. Adela caught herself blushing and quickly changed the subject.

"speaking of quidditch, we have something else to celebrate other than me getting sorted." Adela smiled and nudged Payton with her elbow. "You made the team, and got the position you wanted. How great is that?" she said enthusiastically. Adela looked at the pile of candy sitting in front of them and picked up a licorice wand. "You know what this means, don't you?" she said as she bit into the wand. "This means that now you absolutely must teach me the rules, so that I know what's going on in the games, which I will be attending every one of by the way," Adela said with a cheeky smile.

Before Payton knew it, he was pulled into a hug and Adela was thanking him. "It was nothing." Payton noticed her blush, he wasn't sure why she was blushing though. Maybe she was nervous too. There was no doubt that he was nervous, his hands began to sweat. He wasn't sure why he was so nervous. Maybe because she was a new friend and he was trying to impress her. Yeah, that was it. "You're welcome." A smile grew on his face, a smile that was huge and showed his perfectly white teeth. He was happy that she liked the gift.

Payton had nearly forgot that he had made the Quidditch team. "Oh yeah! I forgot about that." He was very proud of himself for making the team. Even though there were much better people than him. "I couldn't believe I got seeker! I was so happy, still am." He was super excited to explain the rules to Adela, while explaining, he had to be talking really fast. He wasn't sure if Adela could even understand him, but he didn't slow down.

Adela listened as Payton told her all about his favorite sport, Quidditch. She could hear the excitement in his voice as he explained it to her. He was talking so fast that Adela could barely keep up with him. She kept having to tell him to slow down or ask him to repeat something. She didn't mind though, it was nice seeing Payton get so excited about something. Plus she was excited for him, and wanted to learn about the game just as much as he wanted to tell her about it. Adela listened as he told her all about the snitch and how it was his job as seeker to catch it. She could tell he was going to a great job just by how much love he had for the sport. Like her mother always told her, if you love something, you give it one hundred percent effort.

"So, tell me about what you like to do?" He did most of the talking and it was Adela's turn to talk about herself more. He was curious to know more things about her and what she liked to do for fun. Quidditch wasn't the only thing Payton liked to do and he wanted to see if they had more in common. "Lets see what we have in common!" They should make it into a game. "Like a game. Maybe 20 questions? To get to know each other more." Payton took a sip of his already opened soda then set it down. "It'll be fun." He took a licorice wand from the pile and took a bite out of it.

"That sounds like a great idea." Playing a game like 20 questions is always a fun way to learn more about someone and see what you have in common with them. "Okay, so what I like to do- well, I love art. It was always my favorite class in school. I don't think there is a single page on any of my old school notebooks without random doodles all over it." Adela smiled. "My teachers never liked it when I turned stuff in with drawings in the corners and on the sides. They also never it liked when they would walk around and see me doodling in my notebook while we were taking notes. They weren't too mad though, since I always got good grades." She laughed, "I remember one teacher I had was really strict, and told me that doodling was taking away from my learning and that I was going to get bad grades because of it. You should have seen the look on her face when I aced the big exam at the end of the year with the best grade in the class." Adela could still picture it perfectly in her mind.

She was getting off topic. "Anyways, my favorite type of art is painting. My room is covered in pictures that I painted. I think I'm getting pretty good at it if I do say so myself." Adela knew she wasn't great, after all, she is just a kid, but she was getting better with practice. "In fact, I was just finishing a painting when I got my letter. It was a dragon flying through the clouds at sunset." Payton was probably getting tired of hearing about art. "So, I guess it's my turn to ask you a question. What was your favorite thing to do as a little kid?"

Maybe Adela would have to teach Payton how to paint, though he probably wouldn't be very good at it. Even his doodles were terrible. "They have to teach me. I'll teach you Quidditch and you each me to paint. Though you might need some paint by numbers for me." He gave a small laugh at his joke. "My doodles aren't good, I can't draw well." He listened to her story and laughed when she talked about showing up her teacher. "Sounds funny."

His favorite thing to do as a kid? That was easy. "I loved hanging out with Sawyer, I still do. We had so many inside jokes and loved confusing people. Still do." It felt like him and Sawyer weren't as close as they were this year and Payton was determined to change that. "We used to play so many pranks and would just have a ball. This one time, we super glued our teacher to her chair. We got in major trouble, but it was totally worth it." He smiled at the memory, he loved his older brother and enjoyed his time with him. "Okay, so what are you looking forward to this year?"

Adela laughed at Payton's 'paint by numbers' joke. "So it's a deal then. You teach me Quidditch and I teach you painting." She liked the sound of the idea. Adela really enjoyed Payton's company, and liked having even more of an excuse to hang out with him. "Painting isn't very hard once you get the hang of it and know what you are doing. We can start out with simple things and work our way up," she said cheerfully.

Adela laughed at the super glue story. "Messing with teachers is always fun, although I feel like they will be majorly strict at this school." So what was she looking forward to this year? "Let's see, I am most looking forward to, well, a lot of things. I'm looking forward to learning about magic, and actually doing magic, and meeting lots of new people, and going to school in an old castle- That's always cool. I'm also looking forward to hanging out with you more." She didn't want to admit it to Payton, but hanging out with him was what she looked forward to most, other than magic of course. "Okay, my turn. "What is your favorite part of going to school here?"
