Round and Round and Round, Here We Go Again
Osmund wasn't big on formal dances, though he didn't mind the dressing up part, he just bore and extreme hatred for couples. He, himself, was much more modest about his relationship, but others seemingly liked to flaunt it off to the world. But the thing with dances is that it made couples who were usually more modest a bit more lovey-dovey and overall more gross.
He was standing on the sidelines, away from his date Xavior, and trying to enjoy a glass of pumpkin juice. It wasn't working. The least that could be said for the dance was that at least the live band was pretty decent. However, he still wore a look of displeasure, which failed to improve when he saw his favorite announcer approach him. He pinched the bridge of his nose as it became clear that she wasn't just going for punch, she was going to at least say something to him before leaving and probably returning to his best mate.
"Let me guess, you want to know whether or not I am drinking blood instead of punch? You want to know if I have succeeded in creating a cologne that mimics the scent of books?" He repeated the things she loved to poke fun at. "You think that the last game Montagnard played was completely ludicrous and you want me to continue playing like that?"

Re: Round and Round and Round, Here We Go Again
A formal dance was something Linette never had the opportunity to participate in before. Her family may be pureblood but they were not in amongst the wealthy elite of pureblood society. This dance was her first experience of any such thing and she was pleased with the dress her mother had helped her pick out over the summer when Linette was visiting in Luxembourg. Her mother's tastes were to be trusted more than old Patrice. Even the fact that the dress was second hand didn't put her off loving it.
Her other first experience this night was coming to the dance with a date. Right now though she was not with him but rather in a conversation with one of the seventh years. It was rather daunting to think that next year she and her classmates would be in their position. Final exams and graduation and off to look for a job. Would she be able to find something better paying than either of her parents?
The conversation was losing its momentum and Linette excused herself as she spotted someone else she wouldn't mind talking to that night. It was surprising he'd even made it with this being a social event and not involving books. Linette grinned at the first words to come out of Osmund's mouth before she even had a chance to say a word. "Actually I wasn't going to say any of those. I wish I had thought of it though because that was sheer brilliance. I take it you did't enjoy my little joke about you being the vampire. As for the game it'd be nice if it weren't so predictable. Such a yawn. You will be happy to hear that I will not be announcing the last game. My minions will be doing so." She'd been quite proud of Rene last game. He actually managed to throw criticism at the players. She would be watching closely this game to see how the two younger announcers performed.
"So Mr. Hollow aside from your lack of blood in that cup, missing cologne smelling like books and your ludicrous playing how has your evening been? Have you had a chance to show your fancy moves out on the dance floor?" She shuffled her feet in demonstration.

"Maybe you're losing your edge, then," Osmund said, coldly and then took another sip of his not-blood-but-juice, casually. He pinched the bridge of his nose with his free hand as she took his introduction as a go for chatting about those mentioned topics. He tried his best to wittingly bat each away.
"Actually, I rather liked the rumor. It kept annoying people away from me," He partially lied. Though he had to admit, having a good hunk of the school afraid of you had it's perks. "I am relieved. Your minions are nothing like the headache you are," he replied, which was somewhat true. The other announcers weren't as bad, but he was sure Linette would be watching the game anyway and give him her two-bits whether he wanted it or not.
What she asked next had caught Osmund off guard and he somewhat choked on his punch before standing himself upright once again. It sounded like she was asking him to dance. As much as Osmund was skilled in dancing, having been brought up to go to fancy dressed up parties and to make appearances and look cultured, he definitely didn't want to dance with Linette, of all people. "I have 'shown my fancy moves,' thank you very much. I trust you have as well and are exhausted." He hoped maybe that would convince her to drop the subject.

Re: Round and Round and Round, Here We Go Again
"I've got other things to do which don't involve teasing you this night," Linette replied amicably. She wasn't bothered at all by Osmund beating her to the punchline. There was always Quidditch and Linette would make the best of that before she graduated.
Linette shook her head. "My social experiment has proven that people prefer to believe rumours over fact." It had been nothing of a sort. Just Linette saying the first thing which came into her head as it had always been ever since she first go the announcing gig. "I know. Those two have a lot to learn and I'm afraid that we'll run out of time before I get them up to scratch." Maybe she should schedule a training session with the pair.
"Not exhausted enough," Linette replied. "I've danced with a few people including a seventh year who told me he liked my style of announcing. Who I haven't danced with is you. Come on Osmund. I'm not going to take no for an answer." He surely didn't think he was going to get out of this one did he?
