Andrea had her new school uniform sorted out but the thing she'd put off was the dress for the Valentine Ball. Her Aunt Lisa had insisted she buy it here instead of a normal muggle shop in Zurich. Why? She could not quite figure out. But then she still hadn't found out what sort of hold Mr. Smith had over her aunt and the big secret she was certain they shared. It was really annoying when she was especially certain the secret had something to do with her.

She banged the bag containing her uniforms against her leg as she considered perhaps just leaving and claiming she forgot. However, the one problem with that one was the fact she'd used it one time too many. Aunt Lisa was onto her and her supposed poor memory. Andrea could see no way out of this one. Not even 'not enough funds' would work thanks to the amount of extra coins her aunt had handed over to her. Apparently Andrea was still not trusted to go the the bank by herself to do this task despite the fact that she was now sixteen and survived her first year of prefectship.

"Damn my life," she muttered to herself and then marched up to the next person she saw. "What do you think would make a good Valentine ball dress for me? Colour? Style? That sort of thing."

Get On Your Dancing Shoes Empty Re: Get On Your Dancing Shoes

Post by Wynter Ashley Tue Apr 05, 2016 12:24 am

Wynter was her father's daughter. She wanted to venture off on her own and check things out on her own. Her father understood and let her do that, with rules of course. She wasn't allowed anywhere near Whisper Alley and Wynter promised she would follow Ryan's rules. It was like the man had eyes on the back of his head and she wouldn't dare go against her father's wishes. So, he gave his daughter some money to go get her uniforms on her own. She felt so grown up now, she didn't need to hold her father's hand anymore (though his warm hand felt nice when she was afraid). She could do this all on her own and she planned to try to do all of her shopping without the help of her dad. She was a bit nervous to be doing something without her dad beside her but she was just going to have to get used to it. He wasn't going to be around every time she needed him. She had to get used to being alone, to not being able to run to daddy when she fell or someone hurt her feelings. This was a huge step for the eleven year old, she was finally spreading her wings.

The blonde took a deep breath before stepping into the robe shop. She didn't know what she had been expecting but what she had got was other eleven year olds and older students waiting on their robes. Wynter stuck her thumb into her mouth and kept it there even though she got weird looks from people, some her age and some older. It was a bad habit of hers but when she got nervous, she stuck her thumb into her mouth. She wasn't expecting anyone to talk to her or even look at her but a girl, who was clear older than her, walked right up to her. She asked her questions that made the young girl stop sucking her thumb. She wiped her hand on her skirt and folded them behind her back so they were out of sight. "Pink is a pretty color," the girl said quietly. A lot of her wardrobe consisted of the color. "If you wear a poofy dress then you'll look just like a princess." She didn't know anything about a ball but she tried her best to answer her questions. "Cinderella went to a ball and had a poofy dress. But hers was blue. But I think pink is better.

Andrea stared at the girl as if trying to figure out if she were joking or not. Why did the first person she saw have to be a child? One who looked too old to be sucking her thumb? The hiding of the hand didn't fool Andrea. She'd already saw the sucking earlier. Well she could go the complete opposite and go with a non-poofy blue dress. "I don't want to look like a princess," she replied. Princesses were prissy creatures best to be avoided. Like the English girl she'd gone to school with in Switzerland. A girl she'd successfully avoided thinking about for years up until this time. Thanks to the blonde girl standing in front of her. "Bloody Sarah Mason," she cursed under her breath.

She came to her senses as she realised she'd just swore in front of a girl who was likely starting at Beauxbatons that year. Andrea did not think she could possibly be a second year. Definitly first and a fifty-fifty chance of ending up in her house. "So you're starting at Beauxbatons this year?" she asked as a way of testing her own assumption. The dress could wait. It could wait forever if it hadn't meant a lecture from Aunt Lisa later.

Get On Your Dancing Shoes Empty Re: Get On Your Dancing Shoes

"But princesses are nice," Wynter argued. "A princess is strong and nice and beautiful." Movies that started princesses were her favorite. "They're loyal and brave." She couldn't possibly understand why this girl didn't want to look like one. But it was the other girl's decision to not look like a princess. It was a terrible decision but it was hers to make. "I think you'd be a pretty princess. But I don't know if you're as brave or loyal as one."

Wynter was a little taken back at the sudden curse that came from the other girl. Her daddy tried his best not to do that around her and told her it wasn't nice to say things like that. "Has your daddy ever told you not to say things like that? Because mine has and he said it isn't very nice." It wasn't very nice to curse someone's name.

The subject was changed and it didn't take long for Wynter to forget about what they had been talking about. She was just so excited to start school, but she was also so nervous. "Yeah, I'll be a first year. I'm so excited." She left out the nervous part because she didn't want anyone knowing how nervous she actually was.

"Sounds like a dud deal to be a princess if you're expected to be that all the time," Andrea remarked. She bet Sarah Mason would have managed it. Keep hidden what you really are was the motto Andrea imagined she had. Why was she now thinking about the dratted English girl who'd plagued her life in Zurich? "Thank you." She smiled and shook her head. "I seriously doubt I'll ever be loyal or brave enough to be one either." Thank goodness for that though of course the princesses this girl was talking about were all fiction she still wouldn't want to be a real life one either. No privacy in that life.

"My daddy's dead," she replied shortly. No time to dwell on the pain. It was buried too deep. Nor did she bother to say her aunt would also be shocked at the curse coming out of her mouth. "You're daddy's right. It isn't a very nice word. I'm sorry I said it." Well not so sorry she said it at all but that she said it in front of this much younger girl.

She smiled. "Well I'm glad you are. It took me a long time to feel excited about it myself." Not that it ever did exist and Andrea hadn't ever found the excitement of so many of her peers. Perhaps you'll end up in my house. It's a real treehouse affair in Lumière." There had to be something nice about the change up of houses and that was it.
