Meet The Players Empty Meet The Players

Isobel couldn't say that she was angry about being co-captain. But she couldn't say that she was full of joy, either. While not being completely in charge gave her a lot of free time, it also made her feel a lot less powerful. Greg tried really hard to include her in decisions, since she had been a captain for much longer than him and because they were friends. And maybe because he felt bad for her and Cameron's break up. But it didn't matter why because she appreciated the sentiment.

And she appreciated that she'd get more time to play when it came down to it. She had more chances to be competitive and more chances to lead her house to victory. She was also excited to get to know more athletes from the other houses. Since her goal was to make more friends, she had a lot of new chances.

So practices were about to become somewhat of a fun thing, rather than a chore. And she sort of liked that.

Isobel pulled her hair up into a ponytail and made sure her new green and yellow jacket was zipped up (accordingly for the cool weather). "Come together, Oulletts," she said loudly to get the groups attention. "Hi. I'm Isobel Green. I was the captain of Montagnard and I'm now the co-captain of Oullett. I'm a Chaser now, but I started as a Seeker. Greg is your captain," she gestured to her friend. "But for all intents and purposes, we're equals.

"We've sort of decided to just chit chat and get to know each other, since we're still waiting on tryouts. We might do some quidditch related things, but for now, we're just going to play a name game," Isobel explained.

She picked up the quaffle at her feet. "What we're going to do is toss the quaffle. Whoever catches it will say their name, age, year, position, and their favorite thing about quidditch. I'll start, even though I told you most of that already." She threw the quaffle up and caught it. "I'm Isobel, I'm sixteen years old. I'm a sixth year, a Chaser and alternate Seeker, and I like the competition. Heads up," she said tossing it into the group. "It might also help if we circle up," she said moving her arms, signaling a circle formation.

Meet The Players Empty Re: Meet The Players

Post by Ursula Valdez Thu Oct 01, 2015 10:24 am

Ursula was quite sceptical about the new team compositions. After all, Feu won last year all by theirself, didn't they? She still smiled as she thought back to their glorious victory over Nuage last year. Of course, now Julie-Pierre wasn't here anymore and, well, Feu's own Chasers weren't the best around either, so maybe this wasn't such a bad idea... She also felt a little bad for all the players who wouldn't make the cut this year, just because they couldn't play Quidditch with 14 players... Between the two keepers, however, there wasn't much competition. She was simply better, and that was all there was to it. She was confident in her abilities. Today was the first training, and she just hoped that things weren't going to change too bad... She really liked how Greg handled the team last year, so she had high expectations of Isobel as well.

The other Keeper, his name was Sébastien, threw the Quaffle to her. She caught it, giving him a smile before she started to talk. "Hi, I'm Ursula. Formerly Feu's Keeper, currently I guess I'm unemployed. I'm a second year," She reminded herself that she really should buy a broom in the near future. "Twelve years old, my birthday is in February if anyone wants to send me gifts, and what else did we have to say again? Right, what we love about Quidditch. Well, personally, I just love the rush of fresh air mixed in with the satisfaction of a well-defended goal. I don't know what it is about being Keeper, but I love it when I block things. That's all, right?" She threw the ball to one of Montagnard's Beaters.

Meet The Players Empty Re: Meet The Players

Gregory knew the only reason that he was head captain was due to the fact that he was older than Montagnard's captain. He had seniority, and he didn't think it was fair. However, he would manage. And it wasn't a totally dreadful experience with Isobel. She was a good leader. Greg couldn't deny that. So he would kind of let her do whatever she wanted. He had a lot of trouble not telling Kayla information about Isobel, but Iz had insisted that Kayla know nothing about her as a person. And Greg needed to respect that.

Greg knew all of the players already, but he listened anyway. It was so weird being the oldest in the group. It was funny looking at kids that he had see as first years, just a few years ago. He smiled, simply at the nostalgia.

It was finally his turn at the quaffle. He wasn't the last, but he sort of expected Isobel to throw it to him after herself, just to get both of them introduced. "Uh... hi. I'm Greg Bell. I'm sixteen, almost seventeen. I'm a seventh year. Um... I'm a Beater and also an alternate Keeper," he said. "Oh. And I'm also your head captain. Anyone else?" he asked, looking around. "No? Catch, Iz."

Meet The Players Empty Re: Meet The Players

Ursula wasn't really listening as the final 3 players were all Feu and she knew them rather well. Instead, she looked at the field. She would face off with the best of Nuage and Cerisier over there, and she didn't play even a bit of Quidditch during the two months of summer holiday. Of course, who would she play with? She mostly stayed in Paris, doing some travelling, and actually going to see a game of professional Quidditch. She thought that she was quite good at being a Keeper, but when she saw the Marseille Mercenaries, she was just wowed. How did he always know what the others were going to do? If that Keeper would play one game at Beauxbatons, he would be able to win the entire game on his own. Other than that, she completely forgot Quidditch existed. She didn't really get a chance to play, anyway. Teams weren't really looking for Keepers, and she didn't really make a big name. Yet. Who knew? She still had six years in her Quidditch carrier before she'd have to had made a name for herself. Greg was up. She smiled a little as he hastily added the fact that he was their captain. As Greg threw the Quaffle to Isobel, Ursula eyed her up. She was impressed. The way she caught it told her much. Determination, focus, reflexes... She smiled. This couldn't be too bad.

Isobel turned the quaffle over in her hands. "Cool," she said. "That's honestly all I had planned. Does anybody have a game or anything?" she asked, going over names in her head. She'd eventually remember everyone, but she was worried about getting on their good side.

"Also, does anyone have concerns or questions about the way this season is going to go?" Iz asked, looking around the circle they had made. "I don't want anyone to be confused. If I don't know the answer, Greg might, or we can always go to Bowen and get back to you."

Meet The Players Empty Re: Meet The Players

Post by Ursula Valdez Fri Oct 02, 2015 10:41 am

As some other questions were being answered, Ursula asked her own. "So how is the selection going to go? Does everyone have to try out all over again? And how is the cup divided?" She had been wondering about those things ever since she got the letter telling her about it. She felt kind of bad for the seven people who wouldn't be able to play competitively anymore. She did like the entirely new feel of enhanced competition, however. She looked to the other Keeper. Now that she was thinking it over, he wasn't really bad. At all. Maybe she should try harder... "And when are we going to practice again? I'm not in the best of shapes."

She was genuinely starting to worry. Was she good enough for this new competition? She knew she didn't do too well in the last game last year... She was just going to have to hope beyond hope that she would make the cut. And work out. Time for focus, she said to herself.

Meet The Players Empty Re: Meet The Players

"It just depends. We'll probably do it by seniority. The older person gets to play at least two games. But there are still some people deciding on whether they want to play or not. By the way, there are no hard feelings if you don't want to play this term. You can leave now and no one will be hurt," Greg said. Just as he expected, a handful of people walked away, murmuring apologies to him Isobel.

"Tryouts are this weekend, Ursula. So the positions we need will be filled. It's mostly Bowen's decision. But your competition just walked away, so I wouldn't be too worried about that. The Quidditch Cup will be displayed in the entrance hall, I'm sure. The points will be given out to each house equally. So if we win, Feu and Montagnard will both receive twenty five points. Practices will run the same as last year. Bowen will tell us who has the pitch for the next day at dinner time and the schedule will be in the dressing rooms. We'll start having an official practice this coming week after tryouts."
