Hedgehog Crawl Empty Hedgehog Crawl

Minnie sat at the table looking very pleased with herself. Here she was at age eleven and very successfully talked Maman into going to the bank on her own. Thus leaving Minnie right here with a butterbeer and sandwich without any supervision at all. Just strict instructions to stay put, instructions Minnie had no intention of obeying. That was the whole reason for not wanting to go to the bank with her mother in the first place. Who wants to be bored waiting around for the goblins to decide you weren't there to steal but rather to make a withdrawal from your legitimately owned vault?

The sandwich was eaten very quickly and the butterbeer might soon follow. This left Minnie with one small problem. How exactly was she going to use her freedom? She pushed her chair back and stood. The view was not great from where she was standing and so, with glass of butterbeer in hand, she stood on the chair instead. "It's all boring," she declared once she figured out there was nothing at all going on other than everyone getting their meals, talking or going out to Amethyst Alley. She moved to get down again but stopped still. There had to be some way to make something happen. Inspiration struck.

"Hey. Is that your hedgehog going across the floor?" she called out to the nearest person. "You'd better get it fast before it disappears." Satisfied with her work she stepped down off the chair and waited for the chase after the non-existent hedgehog. Just to make it look more legitimate she also made sure to put her drink back on the table and begin looking for the imagined animal herself.

He walked in as he seen this nice little place and with this nice little bar to sit at and drink. He could smell the aroma's of food pouring out of the kitchen, that overwhelmed his nose. As he looked around he could see it was very busy.

"Hey watch it!" said a waitress caring a plate full of food.

He looked for a seat to sit at but most places were full. He manged to find a little table off to itself in the corner of the pub. As he walked across the floor he could hear the wood creak underneath him. Which reminded him so much of his treehouse. He sat down over in the corner and a waiter walked over,
"Anything for you sir?" said the waiter with a smile.

"Umm I think i'll have the butter beer," said Zach.

"Good choice sir." said the waiter and off he went to fill Zach's order.

Zach sat at the table for a bit thinking about how school will be and wondered if he will make lots of friends or if he will keep to himself this year. he was excited that so far things were going well for him. the waiter finally brought the butterbeer to him.

"Enjoy!" said the waiter and off he whisked.

He didn't know what to expect from the golden color drink... When he gave it a sip he was quite delighted by the flavor of the cool drink.

He finished his butterbeer and he thought it was delicious! He was about to leave when he noticed this girl... She was standing on he chair staring at something and moving her head back and forth. She was talking to someone nearby and he looked like he was quite confused and looking around on the ground.

Curiosity got the best of Zach and he begun to walk over their to see what was going on. he stood behind the girl,
"What are you guys looking at?" He asked in a shy but gentle tone.

It was working. There were actually people looking for the hedgehog which didn't exist. None of them hadn't even twigged that no-one had owned up to missing one either. "Come on little hedgehog," she cooed as she continued to play the game. Nothing of course came out. Impossible if it weren't there.

She straightened up again and reached for her drink. Her hand paused as she heard a question from behind her. Minnie turned to smile at the boy. "Oh nothing really. Just an escaped pet. Hey. You haven't happened to have lost a hedgehog have you? Because I did see one run down under that table." She pointed at the table next to her own where some people were still looking. Other's had dispersed, probably given up and off to do their own thing.

Minnie finally got her drink picked up again and drained it. "If you were a hedgehog where would you go in a place like this?"

Zach stood a bit confused wondering how normal a pet hedgehog seemed compared to all the owls and mice.

"I-I don't have a pet hedge hog. Would you like me to ask around? what's his name? I will look for him for you while I'm at it!" said Zach

He frantically look round for the little guy and see if he can find him. He thought he heard taping of it's feet on the bar but never did he see the pet.
"If I was a hedgehog.... hmm... Oh! I would go to the kitchen! Anyone wanna help?" Zach questioned as he raced for the kitchen.

"Oh she's not mine so I wouldn't have a clue what her name is...or his for that matter. I couldn't even tell you if it were a boy or girl." She was now almost believing she really had seen a hedgehog with the questions the boy was throwing at her. "So far no-one has owned up to it but I'm sure if we asked enough people someone will say yes." Someone in this place had to own a hedgehog otherwise why would the pet shop sell them in the first place?

This caper was coming off better than Minnie had expected and she wasn't sure how to stop it short of admitting the truth. No. Far better to continue to pretend she had seen a hedgehog and hope that Maman believed her story to when she came back. Now Minnie had never been in the kitchens of La Petit Dragon and this was her big opportunity thus she didn't waste any time in racing the boy to the kitchen. "How do you know where to find the kitchen?" she asked when she eventually stopped at the doorway.

Hedgehog Crawl Empty Re: Hedgehog Crawl

Post by Zach Branson Wed Mar 02, 2016 9:31 pm

Zach ran back there and started to crawl across the floor at first to see if the hedgehog was on the floor. He tried whistling for it, he tried saying, "here boy! Here girl!" as he tried looking everywhere for it.

"Oh I seen a sign that said 'Boil and Toil Room.' I figured that meant the kitchen and I ran in there and got lucky!" Zach said with a slight arrogant tone.

He continued to look and he smelled something bad...  He walked over to a pot and he let out a loud scream

"Why are you cooking hedgehog!" demanded Zach to one of the cooks back there.

"Hedgehog? No! That is meatball surprise! Trust me you don't wanna know whats all in there but it sure tastes good! Want some?" said one of the cooks with to much excitement.

Zach then shivered not wanting to know what was in there and shook his head no. After that he continued to look around for this pet. He even checked to see if it was eating some carrots or if it was having some pumpkin juice but it wasn't their either...

"Are you sure it was a hedgehog? Maybe a pet mouse or something?"  Zach asked beginning to loose hope.

He then begun going around asking each person if they seen a hedgehog and no one said they had... Although one guy said he seen a flying sock, but Zach just thought he was a bit off his rocker...

"Wait... you aren't hiding it in your pockets or something are you?" asked Zach.

Minnie looked at the sign with wide eyed surprise. "Funny how in all the years I've been coming here I've never noticed that before." Though that may have been because she'd never had any interest in knowing where the kitchen was before. Now as she looked around she could see how busy it was. "It's like watching grand-mere brewing a potion," she remarked. Sniffing the air she then wrinkled her nose and added, "smells like it too."

It was very difficult to keep a straight face as the boy accused one of the cooks of cooking hedgehog. This was going better than she expected. Never had Minnie expected anyone to be so thorough in the search for a hedgehog when she first hatched the plot. She stepped forward, "I'll try some of your meatball surprise." It had to be better than the boring sandwich maman bought her earlier. The cook looked very happy with her offer and Minnie was very happy herself with a whole bowl of it. "Mmm. This good," she said through her mouthful. "You should try some," she called out to the boy, still looking for the imaginary hedgehog.

"Well I might have been mistaken about seeing anything," she half-admitted. "It is rather crowded out there." Minnie stepped back hastily at the accusation he was now throwing her way. "No. Of course not. I haven't got anything in my pocket." Which was so very true it was painful. Maman never trusted her with anything.

Post by Zach Branson Fri Mar 04, 2016 4:46 pm

When Zach was offered some food by the girl he was hesitate to try it... but after working up much courage he gave it a go.

"Hey, that's not half bad!" he then begun to have more of it as he forgot he hasn't even ate anything.

He heard the girl give off a giggle.

"Whats so funny?" he then threw his face back into a bowl of meatball sunrise.

"You are not even sure if you seen a hedgehog?" Zach projected towards her, slightly upset sounding.

After gobbling down the meatball surprise, he seen something run by his feet and he just got a quick glance and screamed "hedgehog!" he seen it running back into the dining room and he wasn't 100% sure if it was a hedgehog still but he was optimistic it was. When he ran back out into the dining room he seen no sight of any critter...

"This hedgehog must really be getting to me... Am I seeing things now?" Zach questioned.

"Told you it was good," Minnie said smugly. She did wonder though what the surprise was in the meatball surprise. The taste despite the smell perhaps?

She shook her head at the question. "Nothing except perhaps the way you're eating." It wasn't really a lie because it was rather funny to see him eat like it'd been forever since he last had a meal.

"Well not not," she replied. "Like I said before it was crowded. The object was quick and I thought I saw quills." Minnie could see it so clearly in her head that she was almost convinced she hadn't really made the game up at all. She certainly wasn't going to admit she'd lied about the whole thing. This secret she would take to her grave and not even admit it to her cousin.

Minnie hadn't expected him to suddenly call out hedgehog and take off again. She followed him as quickly as she could and wondered if perhaps this time there really was something out there. "There! Maybe you are seeing things just like I'm beginning to think I was seeing things. If it really was a hedgehog then the owner can find it. We did our part." Okay so her part had been to lie but it had been entertaining. Even realising she had never finished her butterbeer and someone had already cleared the table where she previously sat didn't disappoint her.

Hedgehog Crawl Empty Re: Hedgehog Crawl

Post by Zach Branson Mon Mar 07, 2016 12:05 pm

After much evaluation Zach composed himself and sat down for a bit.

"Its been quite a adventure so far. I am exhausted trying to chase this diabolical little creature... If their pet was really loose in here would't they came and got it by now?" Zach sat their thinking.

After much thought Zach got up ordered some Pumpkin Juice, he took a sip of it and he really enjoyed the taste. It reminded him of a pumpkin pie. He guzzled down his drink and then got up and stood there for a minute just thinking where the hedgehog could be, if it was even really real, if he was imagining things now.

"AHHH!" he let out a loud scream not sure what to do.

He looked to the girl and asked "What if the owner already picked him up, or what if it walked out the door when someone opened it? You have any ideas?"

he sat back down having feeling he lost hope in finding the hedgehog. He has ran completely out of ideas. He only had one little thing he could think of doing. He got up and went back into the kitchen, he grabbed two bowls put some carrots in one and then put some water in the other bowl in hopes the hedgehog would come. Come to think of it he wasn't exactly sure what the hedgehog eats but it was his last little glimmer of hope. Because if there really is a hedgehog, he wanted to get it.

Hedgehog Crawl Empty Re: Hedgehog Crawl

Post by Minnie Puchard Mon Mar 07, 2016 7:26 pm

"They would if they knew it was in here," Minnie replied. Only it wasn't at all since there was no hedgehog in the first place. She winced at his yell of frustration. Not once had it occurred to Minnie that someone might take an escaped hedgehog so personally. Everyone else who'd been looking had forgotten all about it now.

She shook her head and felt in her pocket with the hope that perhaps she had a coin or two for another butterbeer. Minnie came up empty in that as well as ideas to take his mind off the hedgehog without giving away the lie. "I say that the owner found it and has left the building. So stop worrying about it." What else could she say other than the truth? That of course was never ever going to happen.

Minnie watched him in fascination as he got up and disappeared back into the kitchens again. Did he think the hedgehog was still there? Her eyes widened when he returned with two bowls and placed the bowls on the ground. "Did the cook give you those carrots?" she asked.
