New Faces

Kayla had wrapped up the last of her school shopping, finally. She had came to Le Petit Dragon to socialize, despite its overflowing population. She wasn't really hungry but she was willing to buy something for a new friend. Girl, boy, genderfluid, bubbly, shy...anyone really, she wasn't picky. She had plenty of money left over, she gauged, from the jingling Galleons and Sickles in her bag.

She was immediately overwhelmed by the noise. Did everyone decide to come in at this time? She surveyed the tables and found someone her gut told her to go to. A pretty young girl, probably a first year, sat quietly in the corner alone. Kayla usually gravitated towards loud personalities but she liked something about the girl. She was quiet but didn't look scared or fazed by all the ruckus. She didn't look confused, she wasn't clinging to a parent, and importantly she wasn't crying. Kayla couldn't stand crybabies.

Kayla made her way over with a smile. "Hi. I'm Kayla. What's your name? Are you going to Beauxbatons?" She stopped a passing waiter, asked for pumpkin juice and gave her the money. Kayla turned back to the girl and handed her the pumpkin juice.

Stephanie was usually a quiet person. And that didn't help her with friendships. She wasn't really good at approaching people...she was waiting for other to approach her. In her old school she only had 3 friends. She wanted that to change in her new school. She didn't want of course a lot of friends...just more than 3.

After trying to understand in which place she'd have a better chance to meet new friends, she concluded that Le Petit Dragon was the perfect place. She had never been in that restaurant, but always heard the famous girls of her school talking about it, like it was some sort of interesting space station.

She walked into the restaurant...there was surely a lot of noise. Too much from the one she could actually stand. She decided to go somewhere quiet, hoping that she'll meet somebody similar to her. She found a quiet corner and decided to sit at a table there. Probably the waiter wouldn't even notice her, but she didn't care. She came there for friends.

"Ciao, I'm Stephanie. Yes, I am going to the Beauxbatons Academy..." She said rather quietly...she didn't expect somebody to show up that quickly.

*Ciao: "Hello" or "Goodbye" in Italian.

Her new friend was Italian. Kayla smiled. "Nice to meet you, Stephanie. Are you from Italy? That's very cool." She nudged the pumpkin juice towards Stephanie. "My treat," she insisted.

She knew she needed to give quieter people more space. However, she wasn't just going to leave. "Are you excited for Beauxbatons? It's fun, because obviously, you learn magic, and it's a great experience. I've learned hours of absolutely useless information about Soap Blizzards and three-legged creatures! I kid, of course. Magic is a lot of fun."

Kayla knew what it was like to be quiet. She had been a quiet first year herself. However, outside forces had brought her out of her shell. She wanted to do the same for new first years.

The girl that talked to her was a smiley, blonde, older student. She was pretty...Stephanie sighed. She had some self-esteem problems and pretty people made her anxious, to say the least. 

"Si, I'm from Italy. Grazie..." She said, as she blushed. She wasn't used to compliments...then Kayla gave her a drink...She already had handed her that glass with pumpkin juice, but Stephanie didn't want a treat so she tried to ignore her...but Kayla's smile was so friendly, that she couldn't refuse.

"Thank you...you shouldn't have..." She said rather quietly...

After that Kayla told her several...facts about her new school...she giggled....something actually really uncommon for her...maybe Kayla was a good person, Stephanie just needed to get used to her.

"Si...I'm curious. I wonder how the school will be like."
