Some Quick Questions
-Do we have to watch or like Harry Potter movies in order to join?
-How many characters are we supposed to make?
-When role-playing, do we only write what a character says, his thoughts or both? If both, then is there a special way in which we write thoughts, which is different from the way we write the speech of a character?
-Is there anything our characters can't do in this website, that real-life humans would? Some sort of activity or state that it's forbidden.
-Can characters die or kill other characters?

Re: Some Quick Questions
Hi, there!
-No! You don't have to know anything about Harry Potter, really. It's good if you know things, but it's not mandatory. The Harry Potter Wikia is a great resource if you need to know something specific. Spells, types of magic, magical items, historical figures, etc. That can all be found on that site. Really the only thing you need to know about the HP universe is that there is no electricity in the Wizarding World. Your iPods, cell phones, computers, etc. would not work at Beauxbatons. And also, this takes place in the distant future, so we'd probably have invented better devices, right?
-There is no limit on characters. You are allowed as many as you can keep active.
-You can write whichever you prefer. We don't have a word count, so you don't have to fill in any extra information about thoughts, settings, etc. If you do, that's great, but it's not a requirement. There isn't a special way we recognize something as a thought. Some might italicize. Some might actually put it in quotes. There's no set way. However, thoughts and actions should be in complete sentences so this:
is incorrect and you will probably receive a warning.
-Yes! Our rules state that, "drugs or alcohol while pregnant, suicide, rape, incest, serious medical diseases, mental illnesses, underage pregnancy, child/ spousal abuse, student-teacher relationships, adult-student relationships, cutting/ self-inflicted injuries, eating disorders, illegal drugs or alcohol for underage characters, are all strictly prohibited topics."
Now notice that it says "underage characters." There will be a point in time where your student graduates and they will be given a different set of rules to follow. So not all of these things are a no forever.
-Students may not kill students. Adults may kill adults, but only if both parties agree on it and an admin (like myself) has approved it and you are aware of the in-character repercussions of murder. Your character will be arrested for a certain amount of terms.
I hope that helps!

Re: Some Quick Questions
Hey, so, I had some questions.
1: What are the numbers on the left? I got that the words are houses, but what are the numbers?
2: How do we get started? Do we have to just find a post we shotgun and then stick to? What if you see the perfect post but it's already been taken?
3: Are there any headcanons we have to follow?

Re: Some Quick Questions
Hi!
1) The numbers on the left are the numbers of points the house have currently.
2) First, you'll want to register an account with a first and a last name. You'll see in the very first post of this thread that the post was made by "Apollo Kronidis." This is the handler's character's name. There are more instructions on posting here.
I'm not sure what you mean by sticking to one post orperfect post. Do you mean a thread? You can have as many threads as you want. Some threads are marked "Open" which means anyone can reply, even more than one person. If people have already replied, use your best judgement on where to jump in and make sure you have read all the replies.
3) Nope! None unless otherwise stated in the Announcements tab. But we're even flexible about that. Site wide plots are optional. And we have incorporated things that handlers have come up with as canon on our site. For example, one handler, long ago, suggested we base Beauxbatons in Paris rather than its canon location. We have a suggestion box that we check regularly and that was one we pulled out early to incorporate.
Thanks for your questions!
