Do You Want to Know a Secret? Empty Do You Want to Know a Secret?

It was clear that Wolfgang wasn't allowed to keep the stray dog he had found in his dorm, but that didn't mean he still couldn't look after it. The dog was looking much better now, thanks to his care, and had gotten quite friendly with him. Wolfgang brushed and bathed the dog and occasionally brought him food. However, he didn't want his stray friend to be dependent on him for food. He played with the dog whenever he could and fashioned a small shelter for him out of some logs. The dog had it good, Wolfgang decided. The only thing better would be for the dog to be able to sleep on his bed, but Cameron was very clear about not bringing the dog into the school.

Today was a special occasion. Wolfgang smuggled some chicken from his sandwich at lunchtime in a napkin and headed towards where the dog roamed by the lake. He had a feeling he was being watched, which made him uncomfortable. He didn't want to lead any jerk of a student who might do his furry friend harm right to the dog, so he found himself constantly looking behind him. No one unusual appeared to be following in his footsteps. Wolfgang narrowed his eyes. He could've sworn he sensed something askew. He scanned the scenery behind him for a good long minute before turning around and nearly walking right into Aurora. "Rory!" He exclaimed, half out of glee, the other half out of surprise. "Were you following me? And if so, why?" He quickly asked, wanting to make sure he wasn't sensing anyone with trouble on their mind instead.

Do You Want to Know a Secret? Empty Re: Do You Want to Know a Secret?

Aurora had been out by the lake skipping stones. She had started going back to class and was getting back into the groove of things. Everything was going to be alright. When her horse had passed, she'd been devastated and had disconnected from society completely. The only person that had really been able to reign her back in had been Bo. Though he wasn't one of many words, he did listen. He was good listener. She was happy to have him as a friend. It had been their conversation that had given her a little more hope and suddenly, her future looked bright again.

She was just about to throw another stone, when a boy walked right into her. "Oh goodness!" She exclaimed and looked to see who the culprit was, Wolfie. She grinned at the boy and shook her head at the weird question. "Nope...maybe you're just paranoid." She teased and looked down at the napkin. She raised an eyebrow curiously. "Any reason for the random napkin?"

Wolfie pouted as Rory claimed that he was just being paranoid. "Paranoid? Why would I be paranoid?" He defended, though his quick glance over his shoulder didn't help his case much. "I'm just carrying a napkin. Can't a guy carry a napkin without questions being asked?" Wolfie added, clutching the napkin so the contents wouldn't fall out. He knew she wouldn't believe him, so he evidently gave up and decided to tell her the truth.

"Okay, okay, I'll tell you what's really going on, but you gotta promise to keep it a secret, okay?" Wolfie asked, pushing aside some of his blonde bangs to look Rory in the eyes. "Alright, follow me."

He lead her towards where the dog roamed by the lake. The dog was taking a nap in his shelter Wolfie made for him, but opened a groggy eye when they got close enough. Wolfie got on his knees and motioned for Rory to do the same. Immediately the dog stood up and came to him. Wolfie petted him for a bit before offering him some of the table scraps he brought. "Pretty great, right?" He said as the dog licked his face and he laughed.

Aurora giggled at Wolfie and his excuses. It was kinda cute how protective he was being over his secret. However, that just made her all the more curious about it. She crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow at him until he finally caved and told her the truth. She quickly followed her around the lake towards the woods and started to get a little nervous. The woods were filled with who knows what nastiness. "This...surprise," she said a bit nervously. "It isn't an ogre or a giant..is it?" She questioned and followed him slowly.

As the finally reached the small shelter towards the front of the woods, Aurora relaxed. She'd been expecting a horrible monster or another prank, but instead a small dog walked out to Wolfie and seemed pleased to see the boy. Aurora's grin broadened and knelt down next to the dog. "Hello there." She said scratching behind the pup's ears. "Aren't you the sweetest thing." She giggled as the dog jumped up and licked her. "You're a good boy!" She laughed musically and then turned to Wolfie. "Have you named him?" she asked and continued to scratch behind the dogs ears.

Wolfie laughed at Aurora's question. Sure, he had been vague about the nature of the surprise, but he felt if he disclosed any more details about it, it wouldn't be a surprise anymore. Instead, he kept his lips sealed and continued to lead Aurora on their way.

The dog wagged it's tail and jumped as it saw Wolfgang, usually how he was accustomed to being greeted. That was the thing about dogs; they were always so happy to see you. He ran his fingers through the dog's thickening coat. He had gotten reasonably bigger since he had first met the dog when he was only a little puppy and looked a lot healthier now too. He was thankful Aurora and the dog got on well too.

Once the scraps were consumed, Wolfie goofed around with the dog, getting his uniform all dirty as he playfully tackled the dog. He laughed as suddenly he was laying on the ground and the dog was on top of him, licking his face. "I've tried out all sorts of names on him, but none of them were special enough to stick," Wolfgang replied, grabbing the dog's ears gently in his hands and ruffling them. He brushed his blonde bangs aside to look at Rory. "Promise you won't tell anyone about him? I'm afraid if the wrong person found out, they might try and hurt the poor puppy," Wolfgang pouted his lower lip. If there was one thing that made Wolfie really upset, it was evil being done to a dog.

Aurora smiled at Wolfie and pet the dog. "Hmm...no name for you yet, little guy." She said and scratched his ears again. "Hmm, maybe Scruffy? Or Jumpy?" She laughed a little and then looked at the dog and really considered what name the dog should have. She smiled and looked over at Wolfgang, "How about Scraps?" She asked and shrugged. "I think it is kinda cute."

When Wolfie asked her if she would keep it a secret, she nodded. "Of course." She smiled and leaned over and hugged him. "He's super cute and sweet. I don't want anything else to happen to him." She said and pulled away from the hug and then played with pup a little bit more.

Wolf continued to lay on his back in the grass as the dog was easily swayed towards going to Aurora for attention. He laughed, baring his crooked teeth as she tried to name him. "Believe it or not, I did actually try Scruffy." The dog was a mutt of a mix Wolfgang wasn't sure of, but he loved the dog nonetheless. "Scraps..." Wolfgang repeated and then rolled onto his tummy, propped his head up by his elbows and then sat up. "I like it!"

So Scraps it was a what a fine name it was for his little misguided pup. He was going to take care of Scraps until he had a home of his own which he could share with the dog. Until then, he had to make sure his dog stayed safe.

Wolfgang grinned as Rory promised with a hug that she would keep the puppy a secret. He hugged her back, finding warmth in the embrace. He still looked at her and continued to grin even after she had pulled away to play with the puppy a little bit more. His eyes bashfully dropped to the ground as he pulled at the grass before him. "Thanks. You're a great friend!"

Rory had been playing with the little puppy's ears, ruffling them every so often. He was a little bit of a mutt, but he was sweet on the inside. Kinda of like Wolfie. He had a few rough edges, but when you dug a little deeper and got to know him. He was a really sweet and caring person. She looked up when he exclaimed that he approved of the name saw his trademark cheshire grin and she couldn't help but grin as well.

After they had let go from the hug, the young girl went back to cuddling dog. About a minute had passed before Wolfie spoke up again. She looked up slightly and smiled when the words finally sunk in. Friend. He considered her a friend. She was thankful for it. Ever since Penny had passed. She'd had a hard time making friends or doing anything for that matter. "Thanks..." She blushed and looked to the ground. "You're a good friend too."

He yanked grass up between his fingers and playfully through the uprooted grass at the dog, humored how it clung to it's fur without Scraps noticing. "Too bad I can't take him home with me," He commented. "My parents say I'm not allowed to have any pets," He sighed long and heavy. "Do you have any pets?" He asked, after a moment of silence. He feared for his dog once he had to go home for summer holiday. The worst possible thing he could imagine happening was returning to find the dog gone. But maybe if Aurora was allowed to keep pets, she could take the dog with her. He trusted her.

Aurora smiled sadly at Wolfie. It was tragic that he wasn't allowed to have pets in his house. Aurora would've been torn if she wasn't allowed to have her animals and the farm, but then again...maybe she wouldn't have had to go through the grief that she did if she didn't have Penny or her foal. She sighed and looked down as he asked about her pets. She took a deep breath and stared at the ground for a long moment.

"Yes...I did." She said and winced slightly at the memories. "I had a horse named Penny.." She started. "She was my best friend in the whole wide world..and I loved her more anything.." She paused for a moment. "But she got sick last year...and died while having a foal." She stopped again. "The foal survived, but we couldn't save Penny.." A tear escaped her eyes and she quickly wiped it away. "I'm never getting her back.."

Wolfgang's eyes widened at her words. She did. Past tense, which meant she no longer had this pet and Wolfgang knew what that meant. His grin faded. He never liked sad stories where the animal in it dies.

Scraps finally noticed the grass and started to shake it off. However, a few pieces still remained snarled in his fur, so Wolf helped him out, picking up the small dog and placing him in his lap and grooming him as Aurora told her story. He found he couldn't look at her while she spoke. He could hear the tears in her voice, which only made him feel like crying. He gave Scraps a hug once the story was through, hoping for something like that to never happen to his dog anytime soon, before releasing the pooch and scooting closer to Aurora.

He wrapped an arm around her and rested his chin on her shoulder. "That's awful. I'm so sorry for your loss," He uttered solemnly. "I know how important animals can be and the connection people can have with them. Sometimes I think friendships with animals are deeper than ones with other humans. Animals are so pure and would never back stab a person like humans do to each other and animals all the time. To lose a creature you were so close to, that's a feeling I have not yet had, but I understand it must be really hard and how Penny can never be replaced."

Aurora sat silently with Wolfie for a moment before he sat next to her and wrapped his arms around her. She smiled slightly at the comfort of his touch. It was a kind gesture from him and she was thankful for it. He started to apologize for her loss and go on about how it was hard to loose pets, but Penny hadn't been just a pet. "I agree." She said softly. "The bond between an animal and a person is stronger than most things on earth. I'm so lucky that I got to spend the moments that I did with Penny." She said softly and leaned her head on his.

"I'm glad that you're my friend Wolfie." She said with a sweet smile and then leaned in and kissed his cheek. She blushed slightly and looked to the puppy in his lap. "Where will he go when we're gone over the summer?" She asked his with concerned eyes. "I don't want this little guy to starve." she said and smiled as the dog jumped into her lap. She hugged him close and sighed happily.

"I'm sure she was truly a remarkable creature," Wolfie noted, though now he would never know since he wouldn't ever get to meet Penny. Though if she was as loved by Aurora as she made it seem, then he knew the animal had to be something special.

He remained close to her with his arms wrapped around her. He actually really enjoyed things like hugs and cuddling, though he would never admit to it. His eyes closed in comfort, but they quickly shot open as he felt her lips gently touch his cheek. He felt his heart skip and the heat rise up in his cheeks. He wasn't sure what had happened there but at the same time, he didn't mind.

He was so distracted he hadn't even heard Aurora's question. "Oh ummm," He stuttered, recollecting his thoughts. "I don't know. I was going to try to work something out when the time came, but I can't take him home myself. My parents would find him and then send him to the pound, which is just as bad as being left behind at school, if not worse. You know what they do to dogs that can't get adopted?" His speak was increasing in speed as he felt his throat close up. This is what happened when Wolf got emotional about things. "They kill them," he choked a bit, but soon recomposed himself. He reached a hand forward and stroked the fur of the dog in Aurora's lap. "I'll have to find someone who can take him home to care for him."

Aurora listened patiently as he talk about his plan for the dog. He seemed a little confused as to what he really wanted to do, but on the other hand it didn't seem like he had a lot of options. His parents wasn't going to let him keep it and he definitely didn't want to leave the little guy alone in the woods. She sighed as she tried to think of a solution. She lived on a farm and she figured that he fathers wouldn't mind having Scraps live at home, but that also meant that Wolfie probably wouldn't be able to see Scraps again. She bit her lip a little bit and sighed. "Well....I can probably take him." She said softly. "My dad wouldn't mind. And I don't want Scraps to be here alone." She said sweetly. "What do you say?"

If Wolfgang could have it his way, he'd keep Scraps himself and take care of the dog until it grew grey hair out of age, but the fates wouldn't allow for it. He had two basic options: leaving Scraps behind and hoping the dog would be able to fend for himself, or find someone who could keep him to give him a home. The latter sounded better but Wolf never imagined he would actually find someone who would be okay with the idea.

"R-really?" He uttered, taken off guard. "That'd be...excellent! I couldn't leave him in better hands! Besides my own, of course," he said, a smile as wide as a crescent moon. It felt bitter-sweet though deciding this future for Scraps and suddenly the small ache in Wolf's chest made him say what he did say next. "I wouldn't get to see him anymore, though, would I?" His voice unusually sullen for him. "I had hoped to find someone near where I lived to take him so I could visit whenever I wanted, but I know that would be nearly impossible. As impossible as it would be for you to bring the dog back to school the following year." He paused and looked down at the pooch he had grown so fond of. "I know you'll take really good care of him." He said with a sad smile. Maybe it was for the better. Scraps was no horse, but perhaps he could help heal that wound that Penny's death had put there.

Aurora watch Wolfie carefully as she saw his face go from happy that she could take Scraps in, to the realization that he wouldn't be able to see the poor pup again. She knew that the goodbyes would be hard for Wolfie. He seemed to have a deep consideration and love for everything he came in contact with, especially this animals. Aurora gave him a sad smile and petted the dog.

"I will." She said as he told her she'd take good care of Scraps. "I promise." She smiled and hugged Wolfie. "Look on the bright side, at least he'll have a nice warm home and have lots of land to run around on. Maybe he could even help my father round up the cattle and sheep." She giggled. "But I'm sure you could come for a visit? Couldn't you?" She inquired and grinned. "I'm sure my dads wouldn't mind."
