Career Days: Reporter
Professor Walker took a look around as the students and adults piled in. People seemed excited for this presentation, likely because they considered reporting a glamorous job. The professor himself believed they should encourage more children to become teachers, the way he was. However certainly not everyone could be a professor and it was good to have options. He enjoyed the Career Days. It was nice to see how several of his hard working students had gotten far.
He waited patiently as everyone was seated. Today's speaker was Linette Puchard, a reporter who had graduated from Beauxbatons quite some time ago. The students seemed to be quieter than in the other Career Days, perhaps because they knew he was less tolerant of chatter as opposed to other professors.
"Today, you will learn about being a reporter from Ms. Linette Puchard." Professor Walker spoke slowly as his eyes swept the Grand Hall. "Linette graduated from Beauxbatons ten years ago. She was a prefect for Cerisier, a Quidditch announcer, and the leader of Student Organized Press. That's why it comes as no surprise that she is a successful reporter now." He let out a good natured deep short chuckle. "Please give your full attention to Ms. Puchard."
Professor Walker gave a short nod to Linette to begin and glanced at the students. He expected them to be on their best behavior and not interrupt with foolishness. He walked off to the side of the audience, ready to reprimand anyone who got out of hand.

Re: Career Days: Reporter
Ten years was a long time and Linette hadn't realised it'd been that long since she graduated. It made sense though considering what had happened in her life since that time. She smiled at Professor Walker's statement over her being a successful reporter. In reality Linette didn't feel very successful at all. One article about the Fee a few years back was the only serious news article she could count as successful. Most of her assignments were fluff pieces and annoyed the hell out of her. So why was she hear today talking to students about her successful career as a reporter? Well she was a reporter and could talk things up.
She stepped forward and her eyes scanned the students before her. "Hi," she greeted them. "Now what can I say after that snappy introduction? Well lets talk newspapers and news and reporting. The tools of a reporter are a quill. Personally I think pencil work better due to the self inking quills not being much better than a bottle of ink with your quill. A notepad. And an enquiring mind." She had held up the pencil to which she'd attached a feather and her notepad as she spoke before tapping the side of her head. "One other factor which could work in your favour is being in the right place at the right time. Those are the times when you could write something much more interesting than the latest music playing on the Night Owl or the next big event in Cheval. So anyone here have a burning desire to be the next great thing in reporting?"
